Anyone fancy a 90s nostalgia thread?

I just thought it might be a little lighthearted fun 😁

I had a completely random theme tune stuck in my head all afternoon and decided to do a bit of Googling as I had a strong feeling it was from a kids show I used to watch and that sent me down a whole rabbit hole of much loved kids shows toys and even ads from my childhood!

A mixed bag of tv shows like Oakie Doke, Noah's island, super ted, animals of farthing wood, art attack, zzzap, the demon headmaster, the queens nose (telly addicted childhood🙋🏽‍♀️ 🤣) toys like polly pockets and my fav ads..the wide mouthed frog and the Milky Way 'red car and the blue car had a race'

What are your treasured 90s memories? Anyone fancy reminiscing?

For me it's all tied up in the music. Snogging Andy Marshall at the school disco while slow dancing to End of the Road by Boyz to Men. Copying the Take That album off a friend. Making up routines to No Limits. Riding around in Wayne Cambells car blasting out Set You Free. Oh the memories.

I had my first ever snog to End of the Road by Boyz to Men. I was 15 and it was the list song at the Under 18s night at the local night club. His name was Ryan. He was wearing a Metallica t-shirt. I was wearing a black body suit with maroon jeans and my steel toe capped DMs. I never saw him again but finally I'd had a snog (I was only 15 and attended an all girls school but it felt like it had taken FOREVER to get it done🤣)

@GorgeousLadyofWrestling - @GorgeousLadyofWrestling

  • I also had acupuncture trainers, but not clumpy ones like that, they were fabric ones with sort of a pterodactyl skeleton sewn onto them, they were awesome. I had two massive pairs of Swear boots as well - one black knee high pair that I wore to bits and some crazy pink trainer ones I got cheap through a shoe designing friend. I had them until recently hoping to pass on to my oldest, but they are actually now a larger shoe size then me, and I also found the sole had come clean off one shoe as they were so heavy.
PatSharpsMullet · 26/09/2022 20:35

Oh yes I meant to say, trolls and shag bands!! I had no idea what "shag" meant..only that if someone broke my shag band I had to shag them 🤣 I can't believe I was allowed shag bands..my parents were really strict growing up but I remember being at church with the pastors daughter talking about our shag bands and who had the best/rarest glitter one etc

Taking E’s and dancing in fields, random London clubs and warehouses. Driving back via Scratchwood and watching the sun come up with a big spliff. Good times!

Yep.. raved from Ibiza to Peckham through the 90s. Didn't feel that 'special' at the time, but now feel very lucky to have been in the midst of prob one of the last big cultural movements (& to have survived relatively unscathed..)

Shout! Magazine. Especially with a free gift like Spectacular clear lipgloss that fell off within ten seconds.

Do you also remember Sugar magazine? Those were my go to

MidnightMeltdown · 26/09/2022 20:46

I remember eating tons of sugary crap like pop tarts and sunny delight and still staying thin!

ilovepixie · 26/09/2022 20:50

The 90's I moved out of my abusive stepdads house and into my dads and my life started. I was 22 and so shy and backward I suppose. I didn't have any friends but moving in with my dad changed all that. I became a different person. Got a job and made friends and for the first time ever had a social life! It was a brilliant time of being free and friends and parties!

Rosewaterblossom · 26/09/2022 20:52

Does anyone remember the 5 finger kitkat they did in the 90s? No one I know remembers and I'm starting to think I dreamt it 🤔

Edamamebeans · 26/09/2022 20:57

Exclamation! perfume Grin

Also, Charlie Red perfume

(I was a teenager)

Do Body Shop still do fuzzy peach?

OrangeBananaFish · 26/09/2022 20:59

One of my favourite memories as a teen in the 90's was watching the Smash Hits Poll Winners party. There was one year my parents had gone out to the local pub leaving me and my sister at home. We played Monopoly with Smash Hits on the TV. Back then I'd have no idea it would leave a lasting mark, but it did.

I loved that decade, but I would as I was born in 1979 so the 90's really were my time.

Misspacorabanne · 26/09/2022 21:01

🤔Don't remember the 5 bar KitKats @Rosewaterblossom I definitely should do though!
Anyone remember the tops that used to say 99 % angel 1% devil on the back....😂😂loved mine! 😆they were everywhere at one point, probably from Tammy girl!

scrivette · 26/09/2022 21:02

I was 10 at the start of the 90's, it was great!

Benneton duffel bags
The Body Shop pink cloth bags that everyone in my school had.
Dolcies shoes
Shelley's shoes (never allowed any though)
Combat trousers, chunky trainers and cropped tops (sadly my tummy wouldn't look good enough for those now!)
Chokers

Shlomping1234 · 26/09/2022 21:02

Has anyone mentioned Heartbreak High?? Absolutely loved it ❤️

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 26/09/2022 21:04

@scrivette im the same age as you. When I was 16, I worked at Dolcis. The only thing better would have been working at Top Shop or Ms Selfridge. I had a pair of the most enormous platform trainers!

Fedupwithmondays · 26/09/2022 21:04

Just seventeen magazine.
Indie clubs, raves in a random fields. Drinking two dogs. (Alcohol but tasted like lemonade).
Holiday with friends to ibiza.
I was 17 in 1990.
Loved the 90's.

Sandy89xx · 26/09/2022 21:04

Mines got to be the rolo advert the one with the elephant. Every weekend I used to stay at my nan and grandads and we'd always watch the last train....those were the days

I would have been so envious of you working there! I had a fabulous pair of chunky boots from there and I was so disappointed when they broke!

Follow kneedeepinthe90s on insta, so many happy memories!!

UnagiForLife · 26/09/2022 21:08

I remember Greenclaws, I loved that programme! Have never found anyone in real life who remembers it. With the owl at the end and a special egg hatching. Loved it.

Dream Phone, Lolo Balls, Keepers

More magazine was pure filth

Heather Shimmer lipstick and Charlie Red perfume

When travelling around Australia I saw a lighthouse and spontaneously started singing the round the twist theme tune, when we got closer to the lighthouse we discovered it was the actual lighthouse that featured in that programme!
