Anyone fancy a 90s nostalgia thread?

I just thought it might be a little lighthearted fun 😁

I had a completely random theme tune stuck in my head all afternoon and decided to do a bit of Googling as I had a strong feeling it was from a kids show I used to watch and that sent me down a whole rabbit hole of much loved kids shows toys and even ads from my childhood!

A mixed bag of tv shows like Oakie Doke, Noah's island, super ted, animals of farthing wood, art attack, zzzap, the demon headmaster, the queens nose (telly addicted childhood🙋🏽‍♀️ 🤣) toys like polly pockets and my fav ads..the wide mouthed frog and the Milky Way 'red car and the blue car had a race'

What are your treasured 90s memories? Anyone fancy reminiscing?

The 90’s was the pinnacle of human life, it’s all been downhill since then. Christopher Pike, Sweet Valley High and Point Horror books read while ploughing through a big bag of pick & mix from Woolies. Or taping songs off the top 40 introduced by Mark Goodier.

greektreacle · 26/09/2022 18:51

Had a good ol sing along to Seal's Kiss From A Rose earlier. That song was everywhere for what seemed like forever!

PatSharpsMullet · 26/09/2022 18:51

Does anyone else remember the wide mouthed frog ad? It was top tier comedy in my house 🤣 I remember we had something recorded on vhs and the ad was played during the ad break..we all looked forward to it coming up and I remember asking my mum to put it on just to see it 😁

I've heard there's meant to be a reboot of Gladiators on BBC One at some point. I remember Sky One tried this a few years back and it was a flop.

PatSharpsMullet · 26/09/2022 19:20

Oh yes the gladiators looked so much fun didn't it, I was desperate to have a go!

I'm so glad someone else also remembers the spice girls photos, I loved mine so much! I had so many and I'd love to look through them all again but sadly my dad had a habit of going through my room and throwing things out without checking with me 😭

I was at university!

The 90s makes me think of vintage suede waistcoats, 'pirate' shirts with voluminous sleeves, doc Martins with tiny skirts and thick tights.

Going to see bands like Pulp, House of Love and Elastica at the Leadmill in Sheffield. 1970s nights at the Leadmill!

I miss my student days ...

Stayathomenamechange · 26/09/2022 19:29

I actually found a bottle of So! at my parents house, a genuine 90s one, ahh that smell brings back memories!

Does anyone remember a really sticky lipgloss that came in a glass tube? It might have been called Constance Carroll? It made us all feel so classy! 😁

BlackCatTabbyCat · 26/09/2022 19:29

Wizardora
Zzapp
Tots TV
Rosie and Jim
Playdays
Singing Kettle
Alphabet Castle (and the gobbledegook turkey)

Was the Queens Nose the one where the daughters were called Melody and Harmony? There was another programme similar at the time but there was a boy in the family who was very into animals can anyone remember that one?

Yes that was the queens nose.. I just googled the cast as I had always thought Louise Redknap played the older sister, but I was wrong!

The show you're talking about sounds familiar to me, it wasn't 'the wild house' was it?

The wild thornberries?

Enjoysomerum · 26/09/2022 19:42

Does anyone remember Aquila?

PatSharpsMullet · 26/09/2022 19:43

Oh and a show about a robot who was called 'why-me' or something and whenever something bad happened he'd say "why me?"
I thought that was the height of intelligent word play 😁

Badger and Badger too!!

Wow how did I fit anything else in with all this tv 🤣

Did anyone watch Greenclaws? Used to love all the different seeds they planted and waiting to see what plant would grow! Also, The Smoggies and the Paw Paw bears...?

Also, all the cool gifts you got in cereal boxes! And ricicles!

Ahhhh good times...

teaginandlaughter · 26/09/2022 19:58

Also, did anyone watch a rather spooky show on CBBC called Moondial? I can't remember much apart from it freaking me out!

TheGirlWhoLived · 26/09/2022 20:02

We were shown Aquila in school!

I loved the wide mouth tree frog advert, there’s no wide mouth tree frogs round here! 😂

im possibly a smidge late to the 90’s, so for me it was round the twist, get your own back and going to Tammy Girl to get my krunchy jeans

crosbystillsandmash · 26/09/2022 20:02

I was in my 20s in the 90s.
Oh my how I loved it!!!
Glastonbury every year, dancing in fields & numerous indie clubs with no phones and literally no shits given about how you looked.

I moved to London in the mid 90s it was a whirl of nights out, gigs and excitement.
Camden clubs and the good mixer were my favourites but I also did some memorable stuff like hanging out at TFI Friday and sneaking into the groucho club to hang out with all the 90s Cool Britannia crowd.

My kids are deeply envious that I grew up in the 90s and interestingly think I was so lucky to do it without the presence of social media

Claritybythesea · 26/09/2022 20:02

Hey Arnold

I remember Moondial, I agree it was creepy. It's also a book which I now have, actually.

MidnightMeltdown · 26/09/2022 20:03

90s makes me think:

Dream Phone
Slicked back hair with hair gel
Live and Kicking
Bomber Jackets
Record bags
Round the twist
Yin yang

MidnightMeltdown · 26/09/2022 20:04

Oh, and Brit pop!
