I just thought it might be a little lighthearted fun 😁

I had a completely random theme tune stuck in my head all afternoon and decided to do a bit of Googling as I had a strong feeling it was from a kids show I used to watch and that sent me down a whole rabbit hole of much loved kids shows toys and even ads from my childhood!

A mixed bag of tv shows like Oakie Doke, Noah's island, super ted, animals of farthing wood, art attack, zzzap, the demon headmaster, the queens nose (telly addicted childhood🙋🏽‍♀️ 🤣) toys like polly pockets and my fav ads..the wide mouthed frog and the Milky Way 'red car and the blue car had a race'

What are your treasured 90s memories? Anyone fancy reminiscing?

I've just remembered another one. Does anyone remember Pilot - the clothes store? Blush

Totally, they used to do these (I thought) lovely little corset style tops, I had loads!

TheRealShedSadie · 26/09/2022 22:29

Dancing!

The battle between Blur and Oasis, indie clubs for inspiral carpets, James, pulp, I lovedsaint etienne too. Stereo mc’s.
stone roses, suede beloved, primal scream.

Then rave, house and techno, going to club nights in so many London basements (an abandoned bank vault was memorable) walking home as the sun came up. We could never find those places again afterwards or remember where they were!

Then dance music, faithless, underworld, Paul van dyke, trance in fields and going to festivals wearing the same clothes for 3 days.

I think I danced for a decade.

I liked Pilot and also Bay Trading - I still have a couple of dresses from there, they have done well and still fit!

Does anyone remember the wide toothed pink comb that was free with more magazine?

EVERY girl I knew had that and I managed to keep hold of mine until the early noughties.

I still had mine until about 18 months ago whereupon it vanished who knows where

1990s · 26/09/2022 22:48

It wasn’t perfect at all, but I miss it so much. Would time travel back in a second 😢

birchtree23 · 26/09/2022 22:50

More magazine with position of the fortnight
Kappa trousers with the buttons
Skousers (trousers with a skirt)
Through the dragons eye
The White Room

pastypirate · 26/09/2022 23:01

Born in 79. Caught the tail end of the stone roses and Manchester music. Lived for Oasis, my life story and suade. Spent my teens getting the train into London for gigs and going to the 100 club. I was so happy in my 501's and Stan smikths and probably a body suit. Bleached my hair to bits and skinny as hell. Whet a time to be alive

Summer776 · 26/09/2022 23:43

£2.50/hr Saturday job
Alcopops
Schnapps and lemonade
Dance music
Velvet jackets from charity shops
Halterneck tops
Blue satchels from Army stores
Tartan shirts tied around the waist

RomanMum · 27/09/2022 06:14

Waistcoats, bags/clothes with little mirrors sewn in, sun and moon designs, bodies - nightmare to do up, cut off jeans shorts with tights underneath and black brogues, magic eye pictures, Quiggins in Liverpool!

Loved the 90s

Do you mean the one from Just 17? Or did More do one too? I’ve still got mine, and so has my friend. Mine and hers have ‘you are gorgeous, oh yes you are’ on it, but our other friend had one that said ‘it’s what’s on the inside that counts’. We always thought that was a really crappy one to have!

Photo for proof that I still have mine, complete with melted bit in the end from my straighteners±

14-24 in the 90's and best time of my life
Early fashion I had jeans with patches and logo of the guy smoking spliff ( surprised mum let me have that) moving on to bodysuits and banging your head on toilet door trying to do the bloody thing up half pissed
Out every fri , sat clubbing or wine bars
Getting my ford escort with the go faster stripes and my 10 disc cd player
Mobiles only just made it into the end of 90's when I fot my first one
Glad no phones around though then and nights out just enjoyed
More magazine bought every week or two and just 17 although by 15 never bothered as was too young for u
Smash hits with the words
Going to concerts all the time
Loved the 90's feel we had enough but not too much

lollipoprainbow · 27/09/2022 07:48

I remember wearing cut off denim shorts with thick Black tights and chunky black dm type shoes with a huge aviator jacket, also wore a cropped leather jacket over my school uniform to copy the coolest girl in my class !!

HotSauce1 · 27/09/2022 09:09

Kids tv shows now are so serious and bland! Any one remember that show where you could take your teacher on and do a quiz and if they lost they'd get plunged into gunge?! was on cbbc.
The queens Nose
The worst witch
Ghost hunter
Jeopardy!
That show early 2000's where you'd have 30 seconds to trash the set up house to hunt for things hidden in draws sure it was cbbc?

Those little phone stickers you got in crisps that when you stuck them on the phone, they'd flash when you got a text 😂.

TigerRag · 27/09/2022 09:13

Going to the park and taking 2 10ps for the phone box.

Pokemon (or was that 2000?)

Omg yes!!!! Also Jungle Run which was total wipeout for kids with the promise of a BMX if they got through to the end and collected the monkeys 😆

Jacqueline Wilson ‘Girls..’ books. About a group of 13 year old girls who drink vodka, meet men off the Internet and lie to their parents every time they move their lips. Bloody loved those books.

It all does seem very sterile and ‘morally policed’ now which is a shame.

HotSauce1 · 27/09/2022 09:23

@Cuppasoupmonster LOVED those books! Do you remember the one where the pupil had an "affair" with the teacher?? Sure it was called love lessons. I think the early 2000s and 90s was a very wild time 😂

Cuppasoupmonster · 27/09/2022 09:24

Oooh yes love lessons with the saucy Mr Raxberry! If I remember rightly he got away with it while she had to change schools…

Pokémon was late 90s I'm sure as my son was into it then.

That gunge show sound similar to 'get your own back' but I don't remember that as being a quiz though, I remember it being more of competing in challenges so it might not be the show you're thinking of 🤔

I was a teen at the start of the 90s and had my first baby at the end of the decade.

I remember having Just 17 magazine delivered every week and Mizz magazine every fortnight.

I had a pair of denim shorts that I loved that came just above the knee and had a pink and yellow stripe on one leg. I thought they were the best thing ever and wore them with black tights and a black bodysuit.

Sports bags for school/ college with the strap. I had a bright pink Adidas one.

Slouch socks for school (as in really long socks rolled down).

I had a perm when I was 14 (my hair was really long) as I wanted to look like Charlene off Neighbours.

My friend had a pager (before mobile phones) and we thought it was the best thing ever. My first mobile phone was like a house brick!

I used to read all the Sweet Valley High/ Twins books and then moved on to the Babysitter's Club books.

MovinOnUp · 27/09/2022 17:05

@risefromyourgrave that's not the one, The more one didn't have a handle.
I often think about it when I'm using substandard tools to comb through my products 😁

Monkeybutt1 · 27/09/2022 17:18

Born in 1980, Heather shimmer lipstick for me, the glass jars in Body Shop with the different smells and All Saints (the band)

Goldenbear · 27/09/2022 17:27

Yes, Just 17 purchased when you were 12,
Waistcoats, DMs, band-tshirts from HMV, weekly visit to HMV for a new single, album or poster.

Diary writing, the content of which was mostly deliberating over whether certain boys fancied me and then lofty ideas of how I was going to change the world!

American teenage TV shows - Party of Five, Dawson's Creek, Saved by the Bell in the Holidays. British teen TV so Grangehill as pretty much my school in London, very relatable. Loads of TV whilst doing homework.

Video rental shops as a PP said on the weekend. Going to gigs at the end of the 90s as affordable.

Smilelesstalkmore · 27/09/2022 17:30

Has anyone mentioned the Instagram page 'Knee Deep in the 90s' Yet?

It has unlocked so many memories that I didn't even know i had!

Obviously free combs in the 90’s were the dog’s bollocks, as I have had Paul Mitchell, Burts Bees and GHD combs, but still go back to my Just 17 one, and you’re mourning the loss of your more one. Even freebies were better in the 90’s! 😁
