big patch of it, more appearing every night. Live quite rurally with woods near. Each poo is about 5cm diameter.

would like to know as it’s literally right in the middle of the fecking lawn and now becoming an issue to mow etc!!

Fox. Especially if it stinks.

Saisong · 28/09/2022 18:17

Pigeons love acorns...

birder · 28/09/2022 18:26

The fresh poos look like the pooer is a berry eater.

Whylurkwhenicanjoinin · 28/09/2022 19:30

My money’s on pigeons too, its very similar to the mess i have to deal with on the bird feeder

Pixiedust1234 · 28/09/2022 20:17

I stand by my original post. Its the teenager pigeon party hangout.

TheSpottedZebra · 28/09/2022 20:18

What's around your poo patch/garden?

Other gardens? Suburban? Urban? Rural? Any water?

I still think pigeons but I am so so so intrigued at what else it could be!

Pixiedust1234 · 28/09/2022 20:22

Oh for an edit button....

The "holes" in the lawn look like squirrel caching esp if you have a lot of acorns. The pigeons will be gathering to get the cache hence the concentration in that area. I have loads of those "holes". Both pigeons and magpies (and hedgehogs and foxes) enjoy the treasure hunt. My purse in buying said nuts for the squirrels etc al is not enjoying it (but it is great fun to watch).

SplashingMermaidSparkleTail · 29/09/2022 06:55

@Mykittensmittens did you find out who it was?

Haggisfish3 · 29/09/2022 06:58

Oak trees have a bumper drop of acorns every seven years. I think this may be one of those years.

Mykittensmittens · 29/09/2022 07:10

I’ll go and check the camera when I’m dressed.

we have squirrels but they bury their stash in the beds - we have lots. They don’t need to bother with the lawn!

what’s around us? Woods at the back, but the garden is huge so the woods are some way away. We do have neighbours but due to the size of the garden they are many metres to the left and right. Open fields to the front/farmland.

the oak trees are a distance from the poo. The poo is not overhung by anything and is in the most open spot on the lawn you could imagine. Absolutely no water anywhere near!

I’m here and ready for breaking news!

Mykittensmittens · 29/09/2022 07:23

Checked. No creatures except this squirrel at 7am. Squirrel is to the left of the poo patch by quite a distance. Poo patch is right in the foreground. I may reangle the camera.

the other 7 triggers are me setting it up/taking it off!

will reset it and go again….

Someone mentioned pine Martin earlier. Have you googled that, OP?

Mykittensmittens · 29/09/2022 07:27

@picklemewalnuts yes I think that poo looks more solid and darker but could be. I have seen a stoat months ago but a camera wouldn’t catch it - it ran through the garden so fast it was like a blur, and was small - it would have to have a mighty big bum to produce such disproportionate poo!

They are amazing creatures- at least, I've never quite worked out which is which, size wise. Stoat, weasel, pine Martin, ferret...

So fast!

picklemewalnuts · 29/09/2022 07:36

Oooh look what I found!

I mean, you're asking for it aren't you? Saying you cannot tell a stoat from a weasel...

One's stoatly obvious and the other is weasely recognised.

I'll get my coat....

I dreamt last night that there was a giant talking pigeon in my garden. A cross with a Dodo and an eagle !

It warned me not to let my dog out into the garden as it would fly off with it.

I saw it earlier flying up into a tree with a sheep !

This mystery needs resolving soon 🤣

LadyEloise1 · 29/09/2022 08:49

We don't have weasels in Ireland.
My Mum says of a cranky child "He/she is like a weasel."

Has anyone else heard that expression ?

I do hope the OP gets an answer today and the camera was set up correctly.

worriedniece · 29/09/2022 09:07

I am so invested in this now

In England, someone 'like a weasel' would be sly.
He weaselled his way in to the group.
She weasels her way out of trouble.
Careful, he's a right weasel!

Just checking .... it's not fungus is it?
