Currently an IT Change Manager but I'm not enjoying it anymore. I'm working my notice and an going to be a Business Analyst for a bank.

Susiesue61 · 22/09/2022 19:12

Hospice doctor, absolutely love it 😊

EmmaStone · 22/09/2022 19:12

Finance in a creative industry. I love it.

Allthegoodnamesaregoneffs · 22/09/2022 19:13

Benefit Fraud Investigator. Love it but can be very challenging some days

ivfbabymomma1 · 22/09/2022 19:13

What bookkeeping course are you doing and what does the role entail? Thanks 😊

@BButterfliesnWaterfalls

I'm doing the ICB level 2 (just passed) and level 3 about to start, if you go on their website they have a list of training providers.

The role.. well I input all financial transactions regarding the business, generate invoices, credit control and chase overdue payments, reconcile bank statements, process vat returns, do the company payroll, generate profit and loss sheets, and cash flow forecasting. I find it interesting but it is slightly the same most days. The admin side helps to break my day up a bit.

I work for a small company and I basically do everything that isn't the engineering output.

Skinterior · 22/09/2022 19:15

Clothing development and production. You would have to go back to uni to train, but it's much fun and in the place I work at - often a bit silly.

Pinetreesfall · 22/09/2022 19:15

Chartered surveyor working in the rural sector. I like cows and being outdoors so it suits me Smile

SarahShorty · 22/09/2022 19:15

I'm a software engineer and do web tech work for a small-medium sized software company. If you have a head for objected-oriented programming and have a keen interest in web performance, it's a rewarding job.

Dreikanter · 22/09/2022 19:16

I currently help manage an historic property, but have done lots of other things in the past (as have my colleagues). It’s fascinating but often frustrating.

Ooh! I love my job, but if I had my time again, I'd become a CS and work in rural estate management.

(Or maybe a pyrotechnician.)

EnlightenedSlug · 22/09/2022 19:19

Speech therapist. Rewarding but I don't like all the admin.

Pinetreesfall · 22/09/2022 19:20

@AffIt it's good, I enjoy it. Plus I don't have to deal with clients so it's even better in that respect!
I trained on the job basically until I qualified. Took 5 years and that was with 3 maternity leaves

RhubarbFairy · 22/09/2022 19:23

TA in a specialist school working with children with complex medical needs, autism, ADHD and a whole host of other things.

I absolutely love my job. I'm planning to train as a SEND teacher upon completion of my degree (Education) in May and my school will 'sponsor' me to do it with them, so I'll be paid too. Won't be loads but it'll be more than I'm on now.

HerRoyalNotness · 22/09/2022 19:23

Cost engineer/analyst
manage budgets, project reports and change management.
a lot of interaction with different depts and clients so good communication is a strength

you don’t necessarily need a degree but currently they ask for engineering, construction management or business (I’m just finishing my business degree as I didn’t have one prior)

i like the job well enough but prefer to be on site so I can go out and kick tires, also less politics on site I find

devildeepbluesea · 22/09/2022 19:24

Head of HR in an arm of the Civil Service. I love HR, love working for the CS - but not this bit of it! Bureaucratic, elitist, impossible to get agreement from all SMT, under resourced and overworked.
I’m haunting the CS jobs page for a suitable change.

Production operator in a small factory

i quite like it, don’t have to deal with the public, always lots to do and we get good bonuses and benefits like free health care.

Dalaidramailama · 22/09/2022 19:34

Learning Support in a SEN college. Love it. Overqualified for it but office work makes me depressed.

Stuffthisstuff · 22/09/2022 19:35

I'm a ghostwriter - I write other people's books for them. I love it ❤️

Rightmoveanon · 22/09/2022 19:39

Senior lecturer/Course leader. It has ups and downs. There’s a high workload but if you’re good at prioritising and work efficiently then it’s manageable. Hours can be flexible, lots of opportunity to WFH around the kids.

You will probably need a PhD in your chosen subject probably not a sensible career change though!

Captinplanit · 22/09/2022 19:40

Librarian. Very misunderstood role. I enjoy it but wouldn’t recommend to anyone coming to it afresh!

GyozaGuiting · 22/09/2022 19:41

I run a business, employ 5 people now and it’s growing quite rapidly, it’s very stressful and I rarely get a whole day off! I do enjoy it though, I thrive on pressure, love decision making and generally like leading people.
If you enjoy pressure and trouble shooting, business could be for you! The income can be unlimited, you can always work more hours, go into new markets etc!

CaitrionaAnne · 22/09/2022 19:45

HR Business Partner - I love it most of the time but its definitely challenging when dealing with people

dropthevipers · 22/09/2022 19:47

Design and make bespoke furniture. Love it, every job is different and the clients are (mostly) lovely.
