Data Protection Officer. Yes, I like it. No two days are the same, so lots of mental challenge, good money, flexibility in terms of office vs WFH and I don’t have to think about work at all once I’ve logged off for the day.

I’m looking for a change too. What do you need to do to become qualified? What does the role entail?

mynameischloe · 22/09/2022 16:29

Teaching Assistant. I love it, and it's great to have the family time.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 22/09/2022 16:30

Florist. Depends what type of work you do - the big event work is fun and varied. Weddings do my absolute nut in. Lots of heavy lifting and on your feet 12 hours or so a day. Early starts, late finishes. Weekend working expected. Low pay.

For all the "Oh it's such a lovely job" type comments, if I had my time again I would do virtually anything else.

That said, flowers are pretty.

Homelessness prevention officer

Rewarding but also a bit stressful

CarefulWithTheCabbages · 22/09/2022 16:38

Work in a special school
Physically demanding but rewarding and you learn something new everyday

SingularityCat · 22/09/2022 16:39

Bookkeeping. It's not the most exciting job but it's extremely flexible.

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 22/09/2022 16:40

What training do you need for bookkeeping and is it easy to find jobs in bookkeeping? What does the role involve?

ParentallyUnprepared · 22/09/2022 16:41

Buyer.

I usually like my job, but I'm not doing it properly right now so I'm not enjoying it.

I'd get into cyber security if I had my time again.

BrilliantGreenFlamingo · 22/09/2022 16:45

What on earth is a buyer? What do you buy?

LoungeAct · 22/09/2022 16:46

Teaching assistant. Really rewarding and great hours

Desmorelda · 22/09/2022 16:46

Intensive care nurse. Loved it back in the day but since covid it's just not the same.

PeloFondo · 22/09/2022 16:53

What on earth is a buyer? What do you buy?

Basically procurement. I do the same.

tonystarksrighthand · 22/09/2022 16:54

PA ... love it. Always something new to get involved with. Some routine admin everyday but that's pretty standard.

I've been private and corporate. Prefer corporate.

MrsPear · 22/09/2022 16:55

Housewife - the only thing I hate is the judging and eye rolls

caringcarer · 22/09/2022 17:10

Foster Carer. I like what I do. I look after a child of 16 with moderate learning disabilities. I spend between 4-5 hours driving him to and from college 4 days a week. I have cared for him since he was 5.

Cranefliesthinkthecarroofiswater · 22/09/2022 17:11

Gardener. I love it as I'm good at the job, it's outdoors, gives me flexibility. I like my clients and get to hear some fascinating stories, especially from older people. Qualified in horticulture in 2005 and wish I'd started on this way of life much, much earlier.

bert3400 · 22/09/2022 17:18

I run a company with my DH, started 14 years ago. Slowly grown organically. Employ 4 people . It's working within the building trade writing reports for planning I do admin. It's a niche market and we are doing very well , mainly has we strive for great customer service, which is rare in our field. We work remotely as its all online. We live abroad with a team in the UK. Given us an amazing life but never ever take it for granted.

CocaColaMocaMola · 22/09/2022 17:26

I am a district nurse. Love the job and the patients, plus it’s relatively flexible. hate the paperwork and how much work I bring home. Also hate how much (in my experience) it is looked down upon in the nursing profession.

Isseywith3witchycats · 22/09/2022 17:30

Fundraiser for a cat charity i run the ebay department pressured as i do all of it listings packing photographs admin in part time hours etc but as two of my cats came from this charity and i have been a volunteer with them and fosterer they are a charity close to my heart and at the end of the week when sales come in very satisfying

littleegghead · 22/09/2022 17:31

Account manager at a marketing agency. I like that it's a nice mix of creativity and analysis, downsides can be dealing with annoying clients, and the sector we specialise in isn't particularly interesting. Very flexible though and easy to work remotely.

Evivie · 22/09/2022 17:33

EA to a high profile person. Very stressful and they are demanding, but I like the challenge of it!

bravegirltalking · 22/09/2022 17:34

Administrator/faculty management at a university. It’s chaotic but I love it. Every day brings up a new challenge, 27 new challenges when term is in full swing 🤣 pay is ok. Looking forward to next review as I should go up a grade.

erikbloodaxe · 22/09/2022 17:38

Very niche job looking at stuff that will kill people and save people depending on who is using them.

PandaOrLion · 22/09/2022 17:52

Therapist.

Love it but it was £££££ to train!
