School admin. Stressful and very badly paid but I like it most of the time.

Arwen7 · 22/09/2022 20:23

Midwife. It's sometimes tough and exhausting but I love it

Head of HR in an arm of the Civil Service. I love HR, love working for the CS - but not this bit of it! Bureaucratic, elitist, impossible to get agreement from all SMT, under resourced and overworked.
I’m haunting the CS jobs page for a suitable change.

Have you thought about going over to the private industry? You’d probably get a great salary with your experience

@CeltictigerMum

Do you not enjoy it?

catinboots123 · 22/09/2022 20:25

I'm an advisor for a a criminal justice charity

NonPolitical · 22/09/2022 20:29

Government Adviser (non political)
Not a civil servant.
Done the role in 1 form or another for the past 14 years through Labour, Coalition and Conservative governments.

TabithaTittlemouse · 22/09/2022 20:29

Psychiatric nurse. Love the job, hate the politics.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 22/09/2022 20:44

I work in probation now having just left teaching. Still early days for me but I’m loving it so far.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 22/09/2022 20:48

I work on the railway and I've had a few different roles since I started working for my current employer.

I like my current job, but since my line manager left, I'm bored shitless.
So, I'm going to apply for an internal role within the company.

MrsTopaz · 22/09/2022 20:48

Physiotherapist-MSK, I love it, it’s got enough technical work to keep me thinking, it’s promotes health and movement and it’s working with people who are keen to understand. Best job in the world to me. Plus there’s a huge number of jobs out there. Never going to be rich but I love what I do.

@CeltictigerMum

Do you not enjoy it?

Yes I do , what I don't enjoy is everyone's judgement on me. Must be lazy, money grabber etc etc. That's why it's lonely. Everyone's situation is different.

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 22/09/2022 20:51

Research scientist. Love my job, working on making the world a better place.

I'm a ghostwriter - I write other people's books for them. I love it ❤️

How did you get into this?! How do you become a successful ghost writer? 🤔 Not asking with the intention of changing careers, just sooooo curious!

Therealjudgejudy · 22/09/2022 20:53

Writer. Love it.

Money good enough for me to only have to work part time.

Love my voluntary role also

Sarah8719 · 22/09/2022 20:54

Teacher. No! Do not recommend 😂

lady725516 · 22/09/2022 20:55

Cancer support worker, I love helping people but there is a lot of sadness

livingthesimplelife · 22/09/2022 20:57

I love my job and just sort of fell into it one way or another. I am a Political Affairs Manager within the health sector. This involves political monitoring, responding to Government consultations, meeting with politicians and Gov't officials, attending party conferences etc. in order to lobby for the area I work in. It's great fun rubbing shoulders with the leaders shaping our policy, and means I am always kept up to date on the goings-on in this country

southbailey · 22/09/2022 20:57

School librarian.

Love it!

Degree then post grad degree required for many posts.

fairycakesandtea7 · 22/09/2022 21:02

Occupational therapist in an acute hospital, about to leave and go into a non clinical role. I love being an OT, I hate working in an acute setting (plus I have health conditions that are not well catered for in this type of setting)

CleanQueen123 · 22/09/2022 21:02

Public sector HR. Workload is insane at the moment but I love it.

ReverseGiraffe · 22/09/2022 21:03

Paralegal. Underpaid and overworked. I love working in law, love running my own cases. Hate the sector I'm in.

tamarinda · 22/09/2022 21:05

the couple of doctors on here saying they (mostly) like their job is very reassuring for me as a final year student! makes a nice change to what we usually hear

OfMark87 · 22/09/2022 21:05

Mortgage advisor for a big bank on maternity leave at the minute and not sure if I'll go back to the same role due to the crazy hours and work load but would love to stay in the bank.

MuffinFeatures · 22/09/2022 21:08

Primary school teacher (13 years). Absolutely adore being in the classroom but absolutely hate the ever increasing targets/data/pressure/pointless paperwork. Unfortunately it’s changed so much that I won’t last much longer. I would love to be a TA but they are woefully underpaid.

Loki01 · 22/09/2022 21:11

Postdoc (researcher) at University. As the name suggests loads of training needed. I like the work but will be leaving academia as it is a very toxic environment and funding is scarce.
