The Kardashians have reached a new low

Apologies if there ‘s already a thread about this.

Top story on Daily Mail website shows Khloe Kardashian in a hospital bed with her newborn son. Only problem is she used a surrogate. It’s bad enough men trying to erase women but when a woman tries to airbrush the birthing mother out of the picture it makes me feel a bit sick.www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-11238003/Khloe-Kardashian-gives-intimate-look-arrival-baby-son-shes-accompanied-sister-Kim.html

This makes no sense.

Unless you’re saying the surrogate had sex with the odious ex boyfriend?

Because that really would be real-life Gilead.

It was more than likely ivf then implanted, so he is a full sibling to her Dd.

wherethewildthingis · 22/09/2022 18:14

Setting aside the issue of exploitation of women in an unequal society, even if we accept that surrogates have the right to make a free choice, the point is that babies have no choice in this matter. And it does harm them.

Am I allowed to sell my one year old if its my free choice? If not, why not ?

AffIt · 22/09/2022 18:17

But there’s also people who want to sex sell, do porn, sell drugs or work for money - it’s literally their choice

And while other people - men, women and children - are hurt as a result of these people's choices, I will actively judge them for that. The personal is political.

God knows my job gets to me sometimes, but happily, I have never had to turn up for work expecting to be choked / cum on / made to do bareback anal rather than face a poor 'review' on some hideous website (see the genuinely hideous thread on Relationships written by somebody working in the sex 'industry'), whether by 'choice' or otherwise.

CrossStichQueen · 22/09/2022 18:18

Selling certain drugs is illegal - selling others aren’t

You didnt specify and in the UK the selling of recreational drugs is illegal.

Prostitution isn’t illegal - you just can’t do it on the street.

Or in a brothel or be a pimp as they are illegal.

Adult porn isn’t illegal either and hopefully I don’t need to explain why child porn is illegal.

I didnt say adult porn was illegal I was specific.

However you still haven't answered by question if its all about choice why are all these things illegal?

ReneBumsWombats · 22/09/2022 18:18

Pregnancy according to TwinkleChristmas, noteverybodylives and whatever the rest of the usual suspects currently call themselves.

The Kardashians have reached a new low
Noteverybodylives · 22/09/2022 18:23

You can’t sell them for money but you can give them up for free.

The foster parents would then be paid money to look after them.

If someone adopted it then they would get money like the equivalent of maternity pay

But this money isn’t meant to be seen as buying the child as it’s meant to pay for the expenses, like a surrogate would get.

It’s the money side if things that makes it illegal.
You can’t buy a child but you can get expenses money.

ReneBumsWombats · 22/09/2022 18:25

Loving the idea that young women can't be coerced or pressured or exploited or harmed if they don't get too much money. Must be some good shit in those Pez dispensers.

Noteverybodylives · 22/09/2022 18:27

However you still haven't answered by question if its all about choice why are all these things illegal?

They’re not illegal though, as I said.

There are just certain rules around them and it’s mainly to do with the financial side of things which is the same for surrogacy.
It is illegal for a surrogate to be paid money which isn’t classed as expenses as this would probably be seen as coercion.

It would also be illegal to force someone into becoming a surrogate which is why there are strict rules around it.
Just like it’s illegal for force anyone to do nearly anything.

CrossStichQueen · 22/09/2022 18:28

You can’t sell them for money but you can give them up for free.

Stop avoiding the question.
If you can buy a newborn in the womb why can't you buy a 6 month old from me?

MichelleScarn · 22/09/2022 18:28

MimiSunshine · 22/09/2022 16:08

It’s a hospital labour room. Not famed for many chairs and the ones they do have are uncomfortable but the rooms do come with a bed as standard.

Are you saying she should have sat on an uncomfortable chair just because she hadn’t given birth?

your gripe seems to be that the paper positioned the whole set up as though she’d given birth even though she’s been very clear it was a surrogate but blaming her for that.

Wait, wait, Khloe nearly had to sit on an uncomfortable CHAIR for the photo?!
Noooooo the humanity of it!! How equivalent to gestation and giving birth! 🤨🤨

Jackiebrambles · 22/09/2022 18:29

Aren't the rules different in the states anyway? So I imagine the surrogate was paid life changing amounts of money by these people.

Doesn't make it right. That little baby has no choice in being taken away from all he's ever known. It makes me sick.

Fizbosshoes · 22/09/2022 18:30

Just someone who carried a baby?
Like "baby" carried a water melon in Dirty Dancing?
Or like just carrying a suitcase up the stairs for someone when the lift is broken....

Except that she's putting her own body at risk, monitoring what she can/can't eat, what medications she can or can't take, weakening her immune system, to grow and then give birth to (which in itself can lead to other problems) an actual human being for someone else, but yeah no big deal.

Interesting how a lot of celebrities are pro surrogacy....and yet none of them (or their celeb friends or family) actually want to be the carrier....? Funny that....🤔

ThickCutSteakChips · 22/09/2022 18:33

Commissioning a human, then immediately removing it from the only thing it has know for 9 months and into a family where the dad is a cheating cunt who is literally unable to keep his dick in his pants, and the rest of them are completely dysfunctional.

Poor thing.

As an aside I literally did not recognise Kim in that picture at all, imagine what she must look like in real life?

They are an absolute disgusting shower of gobshites, the lot of them.

MassiveSalad22 · 22/09/2022 18:34

I watched that today and did think it was weird she was sat in the hospital bed 😵‍💫 looked like she had a gown on at one point too but can’t be sure. Handmaids tale vibes or what!

ThickCutSteakChips · 22/09/2022 18:35

So Kim and Khloe have conditions that mean a pregnancy would put too much strain on their body, but yet none of their other three sisters wanted to step up and be a surrogate for them at any point along the way?

Gee, I wonder why?

ThickCutSteakChips · 22/09/2022 18:36

Yeah, it's major Handmaid's Tale isn't it? So fucked up!

Are you ok?

you do understand that someone took a photo of her sat down holding her baby, not that she sat down to take a photo right?

if it had been a reclined chair with a footrest up would that have been acceptable to you and the OP? The bed isn’t that different. She’s not in a bloody hospital gown with her feet in stirrups 🙄

JellyJaba · 22/09/2022 18:39

HermioneWeasley · 22/09/2022 12:51

the LARPing in a hospital bed is disgusting. Buying a poor woman’s body is disgusting. That family are disgusting

Can I ask what is wrong with surrogacy with a consenting woman? I was under the impression some women loved carrying babies for people

MichelleScarn · 22/09/2022 18:40

CrossStichQueen · 22/09/2022 18:42

Jelly maybe its the fact that a baby is being bought and sold, taken from its mother as was always the intention and the potential damage that can cause.

ThickCutSteakChips · 22/09/2022 18:43

JellyJaba · 22/09/2022 18:39

Because when you have women, particularly women in poverty, being paid money to do it, the idea of 'consent' becomes a bit muddy doesn't it?

Where does consent end and exploitation begin?

Again, if its so great and such a gift, then why couldn't one of the Kardashians many female relatives or friends do it? Why is it a faceless dehumanised woman who has immediately been erased and replaced by Khloe lying on the hospital bed?!

LadyEloise1 · 22/09/2022 18:48

I just do not know how or why that family get so much airtime / media attention.

roarfeckingroarr · 22/09/2022 19:15

It's absolutely disgusting. That poor baby only knows it's birth mother.

Sparkles13 · 22/09/2022 19:16

Pre kids i was supportive of surrogacy, I thought it was a wonderful selfless act.

Now I'm horrified. I think what set it in stone

UrsulaPandress · 22/09/2022 19:18

@JellyJaba

Have you had a baby?
