Has everyone forgotten that king Charles was good friends with Jimmy saville?

Only in the same way everyone has forgotten that Andrew has spent much of his adult life hanging out with human traffickers and that Buckingham palace has an exemption from the Equalities Act so they can avoid employing people from BAME backgrounds.

SO proud of that British representation 🙄

Forgotthebins · 19/09/2022 19:55

Ah posted too soon. Certainly there must still be a lot of people in the world without a TV or smartphone. So 4 billion seems too huge. Unless it means most people with access to a TV watches a clip on the news or something.

I’ve also spoken to people in Europe, the US, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia this week, and all have them have been, at a minimum, been deeply respectful of the Queen’s service over the last 70 years.

Your spelling and grammar is appalling for someone that is English, so I can only assume that the people you’ve spoken to are as well educated as you are.

Oh lovely! A personal attack mocking someone’s education on a discussion forum.

Yep those good old British values of snobbery and elitism are alive and kicking right here!

Cantanka · 19/09/2022 19:59

Yes if only they hadn’t had this funeral, then the cost of living crisis caused by a global pandemic and war breaking out in Europe wouldn’t be happening at all.

Plus if that’s your response to someone who holds a different opinion to you I suspect most folk you know just nod and smile and disengage.

they’re hardly going to tell an obvious royalist that they don’t give a shit are they?😂

So you can ‘laugh’ at Brits and call them ‘batshit’ when you don’t agree with them, but not take any criticism back?

I’m not British, as per my username.

I suspect that is the case for all those who talk to ‘people around the world’ about how bad U.K. is. Imagined entirely or people just back away when they see the vitriol about a country they don’t think about much.

Umm… please point out where I called anyone ‘batshit’? @RoseauBabe ?

Also even if another poster did that, didn’t anyone ever teach you that two wrongs don’t make a right?

FWIW I AM British and I agree it’s batshit to behave in this way. But sycophancy is strong in British culture so it’s hardly surprising our priorities place throwing money at a bunch of racist rich sex abuse supporters.

Topgub · 19/09/2022 20:07

I wonder if the rf are pissed and fighting yet?

Topgub · 19/09/2022 20:08

Can any royalist explain why they like the monarchy?

Why they believe all the selfless service stuff?

caringcarer · 19/09/2022 20:12

The parade was about four times bigger than I imagined it would be. The Queen had a right good send off. Because she died in Scotland she got an extra parade and lying in state there too. I don't think any other country in the world does pomp and peasantry as well as the UK. It all went without a hitch. Very proud of our Armed forces and I loved the marching music.

Cantanka · 19/09/2022 20:12

Because it is part of our culture and our history, and I enjoy the escapism of it. I was genuinely comforted at an extremely worrying time when I listened to the queen address the nation at the start of lockdown. You can sneer if you want, but I was, as were millions of others.

I also enjoy the escapism of it and really enjoyed the royal weddings, jubilee celebrations etc and thought it was great the way the country came together.

I don’t believe the selfless service thing. They do serve but are well rewarded.

Topgub · 19/09/2022 20:14

@Cantanka

I dont get the country coming together thing either.

Or feeling reassured by a rich person who wouldn't face any hardship

That’s fine, you don’t have to get it, or agree, or participate. I don’t get why people like loads of things, like pot holing or camping - people are different, and that’s ok.

Well we’re certainly doing an excellent job of increasing the peasantry!

as long as the Billionaires get their pomp then it’s all worth it though eh?

TrainRide · 19/09/2022 20:18

British exceptionalism is absolute nonsense. It's the stuff of Brexit. The type of mentality that brainwashes people to think we don't need logic and that we are somehow magical.

The Queen was extraordinary. She deserves every single accolade and more. She was an absolute beacon in this world of power hungry leaders. I was moved by her funeral. The organisers did ask incredible job and they should be pleased. But...

This does not make British people or our nation exceptional. It is no reason whatsoever to feel proud of an arbitrary fact such as where you happened to be born.

KimberleyClark · 19/09/2022 20:19

Great typo. Just about sums it all up

Yes if only they hadn’t had this funeral, then the cost of living crisis caused by a global pandemic and war breaking out in Europe wouldn’t be happening at all.

If they hadn't spent millions and millions of pounds on one funeral, all those millions and millions of pounds could have been put to better use feeding people and keeping them warm.

onlythreenow · 19/09/2022 20:29

I'm embarrassed by the sea of mobile phones as the coffin goes by. What have we become?

I agree. Why can't people just watch something anymore (and I say this as someone who normally takes a camera everywhere, but definitely wouldn't have been so disrespectful to have filmed a funeral procession).

Excellent typo. Says it all really!

KetoSlawrus · 19/09/2022 20:33

It's possible to be both respectful to someone who has died, and their family, but to also not agree with the funeral expense in light of a cost of living crisis.

It isn't something that needs to be polarised.
