What's suddenly not in shops near you?

I've been trying to buy cream of tartar for all of September. None in Coop or Tesco in three towns. A friend bought the only tub on the shelves of an upmarket foodie shop further afield today. She lent me it so I could take what I needed for scones promised for a village event, but she wanted it back. There's bicarb soda and baking powder - why no cream of tartar?

Dry roll on deodorant if any kind. For about a month now. Very annoying.
And on a few occasions meat of any kind except for super spenny lamb

blobby10 · 16/09/2022 10:21

Blancmange powder - the strawberry one as they haven't done 'sets' for years! I know I can get it off Amazon but it used to be always in the shops.

Round here it’s watermelon season - all the local greengrocers have stacks of the things, lovely and ripe, for very cheap. So I thought it was watermelon season!!

How strange!

puddingandsun · 16/09/2022 10:22

Filo pastry

sunglassesonthetable · 16/09/2022 10:23

See if I can get to a proper greengrocer this weekend!

WimbyAce · 16/09/2022 10:23

Cucumbers have been absent in our morrisons for a while. But able to get them in lidl.

ChillyFloss · 16/09/2022 10:24

Dishwasher salt. Weirdly hard to get to hold of, and Asda has stopped selling it completely.

Summergarden · 16/09/2022 10:46

Ironing water- haven’t been able to find it for months now.

Mitchum dry stick deodorant- though FINALLY got one last week.

No coffee beans in three branches of Aldi. Very few in Sainsbury’s.

orangeisthenewpuce · 16/09/2022 10:53

Nothing in particular. I live within easy radius of about 8 big supermarkets so anything I've noticed one doesn't have the, one of the others do have it. Just come back from Sainsburys. Loads of flowers available.

mam0918 · 16/09/2022 10:56

Sweetcorn Sauce/Salsa... havent been able to get it anywhere bar one specific Sainsburys since brexit.

I also noticed several resteraunts cut back on sweetcorn too and our pizza place put the price up... I had no idea that would be the brexit effect but I love sweetcorn.

Jellywobblescobbles · 16/09/2022 11:05

Chives! And not suddenly but for over the past year, Pepto Bismol & the Boots own brand of this. Something to do with some chemical in it. The shops are strange these days.

Warbuton pancakes and slim line tonic in the south east

sunglassesonthetable · 16/09/2022 11:15

Another one for me. Carrs Water Bics - only cheesy ones available in lots of places.

worriedniece · 16/09/2022 13:16

Cartons of coconut milk

ShaunaTheSheep · 16/09/2022 14:05

I bought a Tesco Indian meal box, which from memory would've usually had an assortment of samosas etc. This one just had several onion bhajis.

carefullycourageous · 16/09/2022 14:16

Wensleydale cheese has been hard to find this week Sad

Sidge · 16/09/2022 14:35

My usual supermarket hasn’t had the following for weeks -

Chicken Super Noodles
Imperial Leather shower gels
Nivea face wash
Frozen sliced green beans or frozen cabbage
Cream of Tartar (I had to buy sachets)

TheDogsMother · 16/09/2022 14:41

It looks like quite a lot of diet type drinks so I wonder if its the sweetener and where it comes from.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 16/09/2022 14:46

There seems to have been run on stuffed Paddington Bears.
Can't get one for love or honey. (Oh, that's the other one isn't it!)

xogossipgirlxo · 16/09/2022 15:03

Vinegar

sunglassesonthetable · 16/09/2022 16:07

@Talipesmum
@Squ1ggle

Got Watermelon! It was in a local greengrocer.

Previously I'd been looking in all the supermarkets. Thanks for the advice. 👍🏻
