I predict a massive backlash to all this mourning once the funeral is over

So far the media is all about how we are grieving as a nation and no other voices are tolerated.

Its a pretence that will come back with a vengeance.

The country hasn't been in such a bad way for a long long time and millions have been spent on mourning someone many of us had no interest in.

Its wearing thin and we aren't at Monday yet....

One of the guards watching the coffin actually collapsed in full glad of the public and even though it was obvious for a good while he was about to collapse no one checked on him until his chest hit the floor poor man. The other guards stood there watching over the corpse while a living human swayed and eventually fell.

Charles has just inherited billions but he won't pay inheritance tax. Yet neither he nor any of his family memebers will pay for the funeral and although the Queen could have, she won't either. Yet everyone pays inheritance tax even though we already paid tax when it was earned as income tax and then vat or stamp duty when a purchase is made. Ridiculous!

Yet we're told people's energy bills will more than double in a month or so.

Rushi's wife had to pay "tax" on money earned outside the country even though she's not resident in the UK nor was she liable to pay tax on her earning outside the country. Still he wasn't good enough.

Charles is living the life, numerous servants, numerous homes, transport, all expenses paid holidays, yet he won't pay taxes. He couldn't even politely ask for the table to be cleared if he was too esteemed to do it himself but gestured rudely but the public should be mad that Harry is holding Megan's hand. This is a man who has publicly shared that the vitriol she received since they went public had made her suicidal.

The say the Queen/monarchy has no power yet she managed to change laws to suit her and her favourites.

They say they work hard why don't they step down for someone else to do the job? Instead Charles s he'd to ensure he wasn't disqualified from ascending the throne and ensured he had heirs for after he's gone.

Even the bin man works harder than they do yet he pays taxes. No money to pay doctors and teachers well. It's so wrong.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 16/09/2022 02:36

The way Charles has rewritten history is the most impressive part about him. He's an incredibly spoiled, not very bright man who was born into his role, wanted to be a tampon and completely fucked over a 19 yo girl when he was a 32 year old man. And then fucked over his own son as he didn't want to play the game. I'll never understand how that was ok.

NewBootsAndRanty · 16/09/2022 02:42

@Delectable "Yet we're told people's energy bills will more than double in a month or so."
Didn't that get called off?

I keep reading posters saying Charles has done nothing. Rather than just repeating something that is so factually wrong, why don't you go borrow a book from the library and actually read what he has done during his time as PoW. I guess you won't, though, because you're scared to challenge your own thinking.

MarshaMelrose · 16/09/2022 02:54

(he) wanted to be a tampon

🥱 Oh, grow up.

How would you be feeling right now if we had a King Andrew on the throne rather than King Charles? Your king could have recently paid off an underaged minor he (allegedly) engaged in sexual activity in the home of (subsequently) convicted repeat sex offenders.

If. But we don't. Instead we have a king who has set up charities here and abroad to help youngsters achieve their potential and improve their life chances by learning trades etc. He has championed causes that the media poked fun at for years but which the world leaders have now realised are the most important on their agenda. He has made contacts amongst dignitaries, heads of states, world leaders and world leaders in their professions, and repeatedly these people speak of his diligence, his sense of duty and dedication.
Before saying you could elect someone better, why don't you actually go borrow a book from the library abd actually read what the King does and then say which person elected for 4 years could do better.

So tedious

WoodlandMummy · 16/09/2022 03:45

So tedious

The truth often is. It's nowhere near as fun as made up gossip and ignorance of the facts. 😏

WiseKat · 16/09/2022 03:57

I understand the negative sentiment that people currently have in Britain with cost of living crisis, etc.

In fact I am relocating back to the UK from Asia (India) soon and quite concerned about things myself.

But here in Asia now … we are observing the processions , memories of the Queen flashing on our screen, her life - isn’t it pure magic , historical moment …?

Prescottdanni123 · 16/09/2022 04:09

@Delectable

Yep, the 96 year old woman who was standing up unaided, greeting our new priminister 2 days before her death didn't work hard for her country at all. 🙄

Suzi888 · 16/09/2022 04:44

A580Hojas · 15/09/2022 22:35

I don't think so tbh. The cost of living crisis is an entirely separate issue and if we didn't have a monarchy we'd still have the crisis. I honestly believe most people have the intelligence to understand this.

^ fingers crossed.

Money comes from different ‘pots’. If the Queen hasn’t passed away, the millions spent on her funeral wouldn’t have been spent on anything, not the public, not towards cost of living, not issued to people on benefit, not issued as a Christmas bonus etc.

georgarina · 16/09/2022 05:11

I've been living my normal life and it hasn't changed or affected anything at all besides having a bank holiday on Monday. The only thing I'm feeling inundated by is posts like these.

onlythreenow · 16/09/2022 05:16

Have you seen the crowds of people in London and on the journey the Queen's casket made? Or are you living under a rock somewhere?

oakleaffy · 16/09/2022 05:41

HRTQueen · 15/09/2022 23:35

This revolution has been talked about on MM for years

I thought the whole point of a revolution was to actually do something

its not been much of a success

The British are far too passive.
Coming on to Mumsnet and having a little whinge is about as revolutionary as it gets.

The French- Completely different.
British way is to moan and not take to the streets like the French Farmers &c.

User777777 · 16/09/2022 05:46

The Mumsnet uprising, happens every week for one thing or another

Personally I love the sound of the Music as the processions March along-
Much like Remembrance Day Service for Servicemen and Women.
It is historic.
Koh I Noor Diamond was India’s Jewel, I think?

PhoneyM · 16/09/2022 05:49

I do think riots will come at some point but not about the royals. Liz Truss has a tricky time ahead.

This. The focus has just been delayed. And the costs will undoubtedly be linked (even though I see it’s separate I’m not sure that matters if you’re cold).

User777777 · 16/09/2022 05:50

MN predicts a riot on a regular basis, they want to watch it on the telly

Andromachehadabadday · 16/09/2022 05:58

I think half of the problem is that the people who are moaning loudly on the internet. Only do so on the internet.

I get people not liking the monarchy. I get people wanting to avoid watching any of it. But I have been really surprised by the way many people on MN and other social media platforms, are so disgusting about people who do. There’s a definite sense of ‘I am better because I wouldn’t queue, it makes me more intelligent’.

But that’s all they are doing. Being smug on the internet. I have seen on MN and heard in RL that their be an uprising and protests, that would oust the whole government, in the streets since around November 2020. One person in my life even bought me tons of bottled water as they were so convinced and they were excited for the anarchy.

But it didn’t happen. Because the people stirring things up are not interested if it’s anything outside sitting on their phone talking about how enlightened and intelligent they are and how they know so much more than every one else.

The funeral isn’t costing the country billions. I doubt it’s as little as 5p a person. But it’s not billions. It’s not enough, to sort the countries problems.

I think what will happen is that the people who are the loudest about how they hate the RF will go back to being fairly quiet about it. When it’s not exciting to be seen as controversial. The people who adore the RF and are devastated will go back to their normal lives and not really think about it. And then it will all start for the coronation. Then go back to normal again. The vast majority of people are just somewhere in the middle.

BruhWhy · 16/09/2022 06:02

Fucking hope so.

JustoneQuickquestion · 16/09/2022 06:10

What kind of backlash are you predicting?

If it’s someone sitting next to someone else on the bus and they say ‘it’s been a nightmare all this funeral business, hasn’t it’ and the other person tuts and says ‘oh, I know’ while rolling their eyes, then yes, I predict a backlash. Otherwise, probably not.

MintJulia · 16/09/2022 06:26

No. I think the funereal theme will be countered by people putting it behind them and planning a cheerful Autumn and Xmas.

The 'backlash' as you call it will be people changing gear, changing season, and making a conscious effort towards a more cheerful and practical mood. Especially around children.

That's what I intend to do.

FindingMeno · 16/09/2022 06:29

I think that the unity seen within the country from the Queens death will translate to grit when it comes to the unfolding crisis. Many will see it as their duty not to complain and that the noble thing to do is to endure.
Which worries me as we should all be angry.

Aishah231 · 16/09/2022 06:41

It is estimated that the funeral and associated procession etc will cost 4-6 billion! That's a lot of pay rises!

it won’t. There was an apology for that story.

It’s likely to cost the tax payer millions, but more like 10-20. Still a lot. Nowhere near the billions and not enough to fix all our problems.
