So the question is, would you join it? I’m just not very patient and don’t think I could do it!

I've got another idea, why not drive the coffin past the queue, then everyone can go home early.

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles for president !

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2022 20:55

At this point in the proceedings I'm ready for some celebrities.

the80sweregreat · 14/09/2022 20:56

Fantastic idea!
But people want the whole experience of Westminster hall and the beefeaters and candles etc!
I still feel the state can provide a hot chocolate or tea for these hardy souls.

Shpaniel · 14/09/2022 20:56

The Royal Guard people remind of the stone soldiers who spring to life in Harry Potter. Dead still not moving but ready to jump into action at any minute.

TokyoSushi · 14/09/2022 20:56

I don't think it's that long, about 6/8 hours which I'd wait. I have to come from Manchester though...

the80sweregreat · 14/09/2022 20:57

Nobody here is being disrespectful at all!
I admire them.
It's a lovely thing to do.

stillherenow · 14/09/2022 20:58

They all look knackered .

I'm off to watch Shetland. But The Queue has made my day, thanks for this thread, I'm also enjoying Twitter

gnilliwdog · 14/09/2022 20:58

@the80sweregreat Me too! They deserve a little appreciation.

Shpaniel · 14/09/2022 21:00

Do you think you’d rather queue through the night with the possibility of it being quieter, or queue all day and then get through at night?

Yes, and you'd probably be standing all the way down if you tried to travel at the weekend.

They really do !!
Come on King Charles .. do this !!

Antarcticant · 14/09/2022 21:03

Strange to see the 'EIIR' on the guards' braiding knowing that soon it will be changed to 'CIIIR'.

Shpaniel · 14/09/2022 21:05

Those guards look awesome.

bellac11 · 14/09/2022 21:06

Im thinking about my sciatica

the80sweregreat · 14/09/2022 21:07

C111R sounds like something from ' police interceptors' !
Kings horses sounds nice though.
Straight out of a fairy story.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2022 21:08

A lady just got moved along while trying to get her small child to curtsey/bow. was taking a bit too long.😬

Yes, I saw that. The little girl reminded me of my sister; she used to suck her fingers like that when she was tiny.

Or an IQ below average.

Yeah, no sneering here. No questioning the iQ of someone there.

I'm not talking about disrespect. This is just sheer nastiness and Othering.

Antarcticant · 14/09/2022 21:12

A large continent of police officers - I wonder if that was organised or if they have all just come off duty?

This really made me laugh. Put the coffin in the lid of one of Phils old land rovers and whizz past ! Then everyone is a winner and all this batshittery can be over (please)

Antarcticant · 14/09/2022 21:13

'contingent' not continent.

Shpaniel · 14/09/2022 21:14

Very moving. Expect they were off duty officers who decided to wear uniform?

Shpaniel · 14/09/2022 21:15

Anyone think they saw Jonathan Ross?

I would definitely queue through the night but London is beautiful at night. At least I hope it is in this situation. Another thing I must thank the Queen for. I’m so over London but this reminds me how it is at it’s best. Ditto the Jubilee. No one can take our history out of our hearts.
