It was inevitable but in this I feel very sorry for his siblings and daughters.

The old would have been the most wounding part of "sick old man". Good. We'll take our pleasures where we can, eh Andrew?

knickersniff · 13/09/2022 20:39

I wonder if they'll be a change to Monday ?

CathyorClaire · 13/09/2022 20:48

We have only ever been one mishap (starting with birth order) from having this particular morally bankrupt buffoon as king although big bro doesn't exactly storm the moral high ground either.

It's quite nauseating.

PoseyFlump · 14/09/2022 06:09

That's an interesting read. And terrible if they did use the Harry Dunn case as a reason to let off Andrew. I've also said there is more to this than meets the eye. It's always about money. Follow the money.

pinheadlarry · 14/09/2022 06:18

Shouldnt be at a funeral, people are over excited when it comes to the royals
Mant of these hecklers probably have perverts in their own family that they have yet to address ..
Im also over seeing insults about Camilla, calling her a horse calling her a wh!re, saying shes happy the queen is dead and so on
People insult her just for breathing and the woman has done nothing
Lets not pretend that princess diana was perfect god rest her soul, their marriage was a sham and
Charles always loved Camilla
Im happy that charles got to live an authentic life

KitBumbleB · 14/09/2022 08:19

I think the only person having a good week is Olivia Wilde

Alltheholidays · 14/09/2022 08:42

I thought Rory was quite restrained, calling him a sick old man!
Andrew is a sweaty nonce would have had a better ring to it!

Novella4 · 14/09/2022 08:48

I saw this on Twitter and I think it captures how a lot of people feel

@Huw Lemmey
Found myself surprisingly moved by Andrew’s heckler. You can pay off your victim, implement the Police Act, swamp the media, search every mourner, line the streets with cops and snipers, but if there’s one kid who’s brave enough to do it, you simply cannot stop him saying it

Spck · 14/09/2022 13:00

@Novella4 love that quote - sums it up really and why it really was the time and the place for the heckler to do it.

That man puts this nation to shame. To date he is the only person - the ONLY one - who refused to allow this overprivileged oaf to rugsweep his deplorable actions and to say right in his hearing: 'we see you'. It was a moment tantamount to the story of the young kid pointing to the naked emperor and shouting 'but he doesn't have anything on!' (Sorry if I've put anyone off their lunch).

I'm also delighted to see that a book about the cover-up was touted to be published a mere four days after the demise of the mother who sheltered this creep and paid off his accuser. That fucker can't hide anymore.

I also hope his is a cautionary tale to other powerful establishment figures who exploit and abuse said power that your sins will always find you out. I do not, ever - irrespective of criminal convictions or otherwise - want a diplomatic representative acting on behalf of my country, who has been photographed hanging out with convicted sex traffickers.

@MarieIVanArkleStinks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 14/09/2022 13:20

It was superbly phrased.

The new Marina Hyde article is an interesting read too.

And she's quite right in her conclusion. Were I attempting to promote and preserve the monarchy, Andrew is not the hill I'd choose to die on. He's about as popular as severe anal warts at the moment, and there is a limit to the amount of his presence that the public can realistically be expected to tolerate. It will be interesting to see if this mistake is made again.

MadeWithCare · 14/09/2022 13:58

When I sare the headline that Charles, William and Harry would walk in London, I thought they'd seen sense and Andrew wouldn't, but alas. He's also going to be allowed to wear uniform for some events.

I agree with PP, in this period of change, if your aim was to protect the monarchy you'd have Andrew present only in a private capacity. I do think know what they're thinking or who's advising them.

Even the Krays were, allowed to go to their mothers funeral. And despite being vicious murderers and torturers, I don't think they should have been harangued there either. There are times to say your piece and times to hold your peace.
Today was the latter because it wasn't about him it was about his mother.

The phrase "you reap what you sow" comes to mind. QE knew of her son's deviant behaviour and even paid to get him off the hook.

She's gotten off lightly, much like Andrew. Many of you are burying your head in the sand about the absolutely devastating, life-changing affects sex abuse has on people, in all its forms. There's never an "appropriate time" to sexually abuse someone but it happens. Focus on that.

Habreathmint · 14/09/2022 14:01

I think he's utterly foul and people have a right to heckle him. However, it was really inappropriate to do it when he and his siblings were walking behind their mother's coffin.

Sad but true

Any mention of Charles' close relationship with Savile/Ball yet? I was astounded to hear that at one point that Savile was considered as a marriage counsellor for C + D, but maybe I dreamt that bit.

Kind of a strange set of friends when you think about it.

Travis1 · 14/09/2022 14:20

astounded by the views of those who see heckling as 'worse than sex offenders' I don't think my ghast has been flabbered quite as much as it has been in the last week.

phishy · 14/09/2022 14:21

I was disappointed to see William driving Andrew yesterday, sitting side by side in the front seats.

It shows support for Andrew which is quite terrible given what he’s done.

Novella4 · 14/09/2022 14:26

@phishy
Seeing it more and more

They let him back out today

I think that when the period of mourning is over some interesting facts may emerge.

diddl · 14/09/2022 16:56

I don't think anyone would begrudge Andrew going to his Mum's funeral.

But must he also make all of the appearances that he has done so far?

Perhaps a difficult call?

At least (unless I missed it) he didn't play to the public today!
