It was inevitable but in this I feel very sorry for his siblings and daughters.

He has very much been in the centre of the proceedings and it feels like he is trying to use this as his 'come back' tour to take on a working royal/public facing role again.

Blossomtoes · 12/09/2022 22:46

Greywhippet · 12/09/2022 22:42

Why is it that he isn’t a convicted criminal? How come he never went to court?

Because there was no or insufficient evidence to bring a case against him.

theworldhas · 12/09/2022 22:47

Responding to the Guardian, the Metropolitan police said: People have the right to protest. We urge those who want to, to do so with the dignity and respect that is expected during this significant period of reflection.

Funny, I thought the role of the police was to uphold the law, rather than give random subjective interpretations of what “period” individual citizens may be living through.

Century123 · 12/09/2022 20:38

I was there today quite close to this. Completely disrespectful and disgraceful. Ruined people's experience who wanted to pay their respects. It broke the complete silence and was frightening. Time and place

Frightening… ? get a grip. Being trafficked for sex would be frightening. A skinny kid shouting is not frightening

theworldhas · 12/09/2022 22:49

@Ladybyrd
Why would you do that if you were all about justice?
to take a pay day … as opposed to risk getting bumped off by a family with resources of literally countless billions and likely direct lines to countless powerful global “security” organisations? Not a tough choice really.

I for one cannot imagine why the police, who on joining make an oath to serve the Queen (and whose helmets bear her insignia) may have elected not to pursue historic sex charges against the Queen’s favourite son. I imagine they struggled long and hard with that decision.

He got official dog walker 🤷‍♀️ I think that's probably as good as it gets.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 12/09/2022 17:25

I think even odious sex offenders should be allowed to grieve their parents in peace.

He’s vile. But heckling him is worse.

No heckling is far from ‘worse’, don’t be ridiculous, but this was not the time to do it.

Because the Queen paid a significant sum in charitable donations as an out of court settlement to make it go away

Indeed - 3 people have already been arrested now. One for holding an anti-monarchy placard. Anyone would think this was a dictatorship!!

Namedifferentorquestion · 13/09/2022 00:26

He wasn't convicted because she settled for money out of court. She chose to not seek a trial for whatever reason that is private to her. Money/lack of evidence/not wanting or unable to face a trial - who knows.

She hasn't brought a criminal case against anyone and she wasn't brought forward as a witness in the Maxwell case. She is being sued for defamation by that lawyer guy she accused and her old lawyers had to pay him some sort of settlement. She is counter suing him - due to come to trial next year

Century123 · 13/09/2022 02:04

@Greywhippet commotion breaks out beside you. Thousands of people and narrow streets. Police perched high on platforms with guns. It was frightening.

When would be the time to do it?
There are unlikely to be many more opportunities for a member of the public to tell Andrew what they think of his behaviour.

diddl · 13/09/2022 08:11

Didn't it occur to him What this young girl was doing hanging out with them? Didn't he think it was very odd a young girl farmed out for sex?

Nothing seems to occur to him.

Like not meeting up with a convicted sex offender after they are released from prison.

That he shouldn't be trying to play to the public's sympathy now & should stay well in the background.

diddl · 13/09/2022 08:16

He does seem absolutely clueless.

It has been said I think for many years that Charles intended to slim things down & I'm pretty sure that Andrew (& daughters?) would be ones to go.

This possibly predates his ill advised post release meet up with Epstein.

Does anyone remember some event/celebration & there being noticeably few of them on BP balcony?

Lampzade · 13/09/2022 08:26

Ladybyrd · 12/09/2022 22:22

Victim blaming at its finest.

No, not really. The first time she was a victim. But when you keep going back for more, that's a choice.

And keep going back to Epstein and Andrew years later? For hundreds of thousands, then tens of millions. Yes, she was a victim. Whatever. She was all about stopping that happening to other people. It wasn't all about money.

It wasn't a criminal investigation. You can all read it as you like.

I take absolute issue with your statement that she went ‘back for more’
What the fuck does this mean?
I would be grateful if you would explain.

Lampzade · 13/09/2022 08:29

Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. You have very little idea of the complexities of being a victim of sex trafficking
The victim blaming by some in this thread is shocking

storminabuttercup · 13/09/2022 11:15

Astounded by some comments on here.

I can't feel sorry for any of them. Presumably a conversation happened and they agreed Andrew should walk with them. Then on their heads be it.

The 'long live the king' chants over what the young lad said really spooked me, it was like some messed up dystopian fiction film with blanked faced brainwashed people not seeing what was right in front of them. (A dirty old man being paraded in front of the public)

Pedallleur · 13/09/2022 11:22

Doubt he will be back in his old roles. His brother/nephew and wife (William and Kate) will have had a conversation about that. The family paid the bill, thats as good as it gets. he can live on the largesse of the family. Balmoral and Sandringham available to live in. He can be in charge of dogs and horses

I found it truly pathetic when other members of the crowd started shouting long live the king.. what pathetic serfs and peasants. It's embarrassing. Imagine. These people live unbelievable lives of luxury and the forelock tuggers are tripping over themselves with gratitude. Just how thick can people be?!

Novella4 · 13/09/2022 12:17

Yes , @comedycook but serfs gotta serf !

I wondered if they had 'plants' placeed there to start a chant in case there was heckling.

Maybe that's a conspiracy too far

God it's dispiriting to read royalist repeat the lies they are told ( royals bring in money , president would be worse blah blah )
It's not just that people are unquestioning , some people don't seem to want to know the truth

I do have some hope things will be questioned more widely once the media blitz is over .

Charles will provide plenty of fodder

HouseOfGuineas · 13/09/2022 13:00

@Novella4

Some people do know the truth and also know elected people actually in charge of executive government on a daily basis have been guilty of the same and a host of other crimes.

To be absolutely clear I am not an Andrew apologist, far from it, or particularly Royalist but your arguments for not having the Royal family are very much like the stay/remain and Tory/Labour debates when people are just accused of being stupid if they don’t have the same views as you.

Apparently 40+% of the electorate voted Tory and of course there have been no sex abuse, fraud scandals surrounding them as elected officials. Oh wait….

Novella4 · 13/09/2022 13:03

@HouseOfGuineas

for the billionth time : politicans are elected , we can and do get rid of them .

Royals are not only unelected , but above the law pertaining to all this issues to mention. Handy for them isn't it ?
