It was inevitable but in this I feel very sorry for his siblings and daughters.

I just it as another example of entitled blokes, not a hero.

Andrew thinks he’s entitled to have sex with whoever he wants not bothering to find out age or motivation.
Rory thinks he’s entitled to spoil a state funeral possession because his right to free speech is more important than all the other watchers, mourners and people who put effort into making this an event.
Bloke that took down Rory thinks it’s his right to shut the heckler up using any physical method possible.

The worst side of men. Always about them and their needs.

A major difference here. Only one of these three men acted within the remit of law. For the avoidance of any doubt as to which this was, sex with trafficked women and common assault have the illegal aspects very well covered.

As was pointed out on these boards recently: we are constantly telling men that VAWG can only be seriously tackled if they stand up with us against it. This man, Rory, yesterday did precisely that.

He should have been applauded, not arrested.

Comedycook · 13/09/2022 13:36

The man who heckled is a hero in my eyes!

Astounded by some comments on here.

I can't feel sorry for any of them. Presumably a conversation happened and they agreed Andrew should walk with them. Then on their heads be it.

The 'long live the king' chants over what the young lad said really spooked me, it was like some messed up dystopian fiction film with blanked faced brainwashed people not seeing what was right in front of them. (A dirty old man being paraded in front of the public)

Very well said. He turned my stomach acting like a victim with his namaste hands gesture.

It was cringeworthy

ThomasinaGallico · 13/09/2022 14:51

we even had a 'aww Prince Andrew is going to look after the corgis' story

Sounds about right; the corgis are a most unlikable lot from what I gather.

The law? Andrew has settled with his accuser outside of court. Which of course doesn’t mean he didn’t do it but does mean you can’t use “the law” ,having not been found guilty in law.
Doesn’t shouting your mouth off at the Queens procession come under some public disorder offence.

Don’t kid yourself. Gobby wasn’t standing up for trafficked women but loving putting Andrew in his place ( when they could do nothing about it) preferably with as much attention as possible. What good does it do.trafficked women?

No one likes Andrew. His sucking up to public is revolting and I’m sure the Palace is well aware following plenty of feedback after events.

limitedperiodonly · 13/09/2022 15:21

Public disapproval is a very effective way of policing people's behaviour either to stop them transgressing in the first place or to remind them that they should go away and think very hard about what they've done.

I don't want to go back to the time when young women were abused in the street for having a child outside marriage. But I'm relaxed about Andrew having to listen to robust opinions about his decision to use trafficked women for sex even if he is attempting to use his dead mum as a human shield at the time.

I really agree. Andrew is a disgrace but I am not convinced by Rory's motivations.

I still can see why some people applaud him ('never the wrong time to call out a sex offended') however his actions did warrant police intervention to remove him. It's public disorder so they had to.

Novella4 · 13/09/2022 15:44

More revisionism

Don't blame the protestor .
He wouldn't have been there if Andrew wasn't .

Blame the royals for they must have approved Andrew's appearance .
And as been said , this was an state event .
It's subliminal approval

ArnoldArnoldArnoldRimmer · 13/09/2022 15:49

As he should. It is always the time and place to heckle a sexual abuser. If you want things kept respectful then keep him out of public!

Lampzade · 13/09/2022 15:49

I don’t know what Rory’s motivations are
What I do know is that a man who has been accused of sexual ‘impropriety’ is walking around as though he hasn’t done anything wrong.
It is fucking disgraceful

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 13/09/2022 15:54

Who cares what his motivation was? The message 'you're a sick old man' - very mild in the circumstances; he could have said a lot worse - is not uniquely his view, but having been bailed out by his mother's considerable wealth, still retained his significant privileges and only happened to lose his ceremonial, public duties, the man has got away with his actions with complete impunity.

And it matters nothing that 'he's never been charged with any criminal offence', which I'm sure will be the next objection raised as it's trotted out unfailingly whenever this discussion comes up (no wonder they think they're untouchable). He was acting as a UK representative, on the global stage on behalf of this country, and was hanging out with and had been photographed with a convicted sex offender (and a woman later convicted and imprisoned for trafficking).

In most people's worlds, that would be called 'bringing the profession into disrepute' and irrespective of proven criminality, you'd be fired for it.

Andrew Windsor got off lightly, and the message that the public is disgusted and consider sexual exploitation unacceptable was as yet unheard and doesn't seem to have penetrated his thick skull.

Now, it has. And in front of a very large audience to boot. Good.

MadeWithCare · 13/09/2022 17:38

Don’t kid yourself. Gobby wasn’t standing up for trafficked women but loving putting Andrew in his place ( when they could do nothing about it) preferably with as much attention as possible. What good does it dotrafficked women?

If the world gets to see that even the richest, most welll connected men get brought down by this kind of behaviour, it has the potential to do trafficked women a very great deal of good.

Sporty2022 · 13/09/2022 18:40

Did Andrew hear the heckler? And the other royals?

carefullycourageous · 13/09/2022 18:48

Oh no, I agree with David Davis (as sometimes I do, when he remembers he calls himself liberal): twitter.com/DavidDavisMP/status/1569700441490857988

Butchyrestingface · 13/09/2022 18:52

Well, if these charges ever see the light of day in a (Scottish) court, I hope it's a JURY trial as opposed to a judge deciding the case. Grin

It won't be a jury trial. It will be in the Sheriff Court before a Sheriff, with no jury. It could even go to a Justice of the Peace court before a lay magistrate, again , no jury.

I'll just wait until I see him in my local Tesco, shall I?
Man should be sent to a dessert island with enough supplies to last him two weeks and a basic survival guide.
Not paraded around as if his birth means he's special.

Or pizza express 🤣

Sporty2022 · 13/09/2022 20:14

The heckler was totally wrong to do this.If this wasn’t about the Queens death, maybe I could understand it. But the worlds media was watching this. The Queens other children were there and surely an insult to HM Majesty.

Has the young man been named? Will be all over social media? Will this go against him for the rest of his life?

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 13/09/2022 20:20

Has the young man been named? Will be all over social media? Will this go against him for the rest of his life?

Yes he has been named, and rather than go against him, I think he's pretty much guaranteed he'll be bought a drink any pub in Scotland if he's recognised, with the exception of a few of the more rabid places in and around Glasgow.

knickersniff · 13/09/2022 20:25

The thing is we don't know what sort of back ground this young man has had , we don't know his story . Andrews face sickens me every time I see it , he's so unapologetic. I get this young man's anger im just so sorry for the Queen , she did not deserve that . I hope he's not there on Monday although I do think London will be more reserved with their emotions.

Novella4 · 13/09/2022 20:26

What sort of background ?

What is that supposed to mean ?

knickersniff · 13/09/2022 20:28

Novella4 · 13/09/2022 20:26

What sort of background ?

What is that supposed to mean ?

Well he may have been a victim of abuse himself .

Novella4 · 13/09/2022 20:32

I don't think that is relevant at all.

He was calm , measured and clear .

He is being applauded . Of those royalists who can't applaud him, most acknowledge the validity of the message

Andrew should have gone directly to the church or stayed in a car .
