It's very unusual for Buck Palace to release a statement like they have isn't it?

RIP Queen Elizabeth

Lady Colin Campbell is a journalist - it's speculation. She didn't even get it right about Meghan going to Balmoral, so how the rest of her statement can be given credibility, I have no idea.

Ghastly woman, still milking a marriage of less than a year, I wouldn't believe her if she said it was raining.

Feel so sad that the queen has died.

Rabidturnip · 08/09/2022 18:52

RIP

Just thinking of the Queens family.
This morning we saw Prince William ( now the Prince of Wales ) walking his children to school. They now have to be told their gan gan ( the name they had for her ) has passed away.

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy 💕

He’s not the Prince of Wales, though. He doesn’t inherit that title just because his dad had it.

KittyCatsby · 08/09/2022 19:36

@Snowiscold an
ok , I'm just repeating what I read about them moving up , and Williams children now also being Princes / Princesses.

The heir to the throne is always the Prince of Wales.

no, it’s not an inherited title. It’s only gifted by the monarch. There was talk that the Prince of Wales title might go to Edward.

From one of the forces forums I frequent.

It can't go to Edward, The Prince of Wales title always goes to the heir.

Edward may get the Duke of Edinburgh title now that Charles is King though.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_of_Wales

Prince of Wales (Welsh: Tywysog Cymru, Welsh pronunciation: [təu̯ˈəsoɡ ˈkəmrɨ]) is a title historically used by native, independent Welsh princes and since the 14th century by the heir apparent of the English and later British throne.

I've reported the video and commented that it was not for her to make this announcement even if what she said turns out to be accurate. That it was disrespectful to The Queen and her family.

Completely agree,
Turns out The Queen did on fact die this afternoon, but that cackling old goat with her frightful laugh just had to get in there FIRST.
Campbell is very ill mannered to break protocol like that for views .

The heir to the throne is always the Prince of Wales.

Isn't it the other way round, the Prince of Wales is always the heir to the throne? Prince Charles wasn't the Prince of Wales until his investiture in 1969 as far as I remember.

LavenderfortheBees · 08/09/2022 20:23

Regardless, it would never have been Edward.

Actually that has made me think of something I have never considered before. We know that by law the heir is the eldest child or nearest relative of the monarch (previously with males taking precedence).

So what would happen if the legal heir was unsuitable for the role e.g. had a very severe learning difficulty or acquired brain injury etc. Would the Monarch or Parliament be able to disinherit that person? Both for their own good or that of the state? This would only be relevant if that person was incapable of giving consent to not be heir presumably?

KittyCatsby · 09/09/2022 08:21

@LavenderfortheBees

Wasn't there a ' Mad King George ' once ? I don't know the story though or why he was called that.
Also didn't the Queen Mother have two sisters that were locked away and forgotten about due to mental health.

LadyEloise1 · 09/09/2022 08:39

@KittyCatsby
There was a programme on "Mad" King George recently. Lucy Worsley presented it on the BBC. You can probably see it on the BBCiPlayer.

The two Bowes Lyons women were nieces of the Queen Mother, cousins of the late Queen.
