It's very unusual for Buck Palace to release a statement like they have isn't it?

I think she has passed already 😔 they are probably giving the family privacy to grieve before letting the public know.

I think so too, and the bbc know, if so it must have been very quick, my toughts are with her family.

That crossed my mind too. The beeb are doing blanket coverage just now. I think it's building up to an announcement early evening today.

I did a double take when the picture with her at Balmoral with Truss was released- she was smiling however her hands had that mottled look to them which was passed off as bruising.

HM has been marvellous all the way until now, as morbid as it sounds she deserves an uncomplicated peaceful passing surrounded by her family, I don’t want her to suffer ill health.

Probably from a cannula

Shreik · 08/09/2022 14:59

Nice for the family that they can just grab a private helicopter and pop up in record time. Unlike the rest of us.
Also we are paying for all those children to go to fancy schools.

I do not mind Elizabeth though. She's nice enough. I hope she's not in any pain

Agree unfortunately. That’s exactly what they are doing….probably an announcement early evening.

The male and female sign language hosts are both dressed entirely in black.

I'd never thought of that, but they've already implemented 'the procedure' in a fashion. Coverage by a senior newsreader in solemn clothing.

On a lighter note, I just looked at Google Maps because I wasn't sure where Balmoral was, and if you find the Balmoral area, the 'streetview' character turns into a tiny little Queen, with her white dress, blue sash and crown, which is nice.

abovedecknotbelow · 08/09/2022 15:02

Also not a royalist but greatly respect her for what's she's done over many many years and she's a woman. She's hard core.

I hope her death is peaceful.

Ha brilliant!

foxlover47 · 08/09/2022 15:03

Not a royalist either but don't think we will ever see another royal as dedicated to the role / job / service as she has been.
The photo the other day looked almost like a photo shop she looked so tiny and frail
I don't think there will ever be another like her and do hope she isn't suffering / suffered

abovedecknotbelow · 08/09/2022 15:04

And itv news in black

JimBob61 · 08/09/2022 15:06

I'm no royalist but I feel incredibly sad about this.
I agree, I think she's passed already. If she hasn't the BBC are going to look a bit foolish.
I hope she's comfortable and her family can all put their differences aside and support and comfort each other.

DownNative · 08/09/2022 15:06

BeggyMitchell · 08/09/2022 14:48

Like HappyGirl79, I'm not a royalist but I don't think you have to be to be thinking of her. For the vast majority of us she's always been our sovereign.

Doesn't seem right somehow, the thought of there not being a Queen of England.

There hasn't been a Queen or King of England for centuries! Obsolete titles.

There's only a King or Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Realms and Territories.

Shreik · 08/09/2022 15:07

It's going to be rather expensive to get all the money changed to Charles

Sparklybutold · 08/09/2022 15:09

It is sad when anyone is nearing the end but she has enjoyed a life that many of us could only dream off. Of course they'll be worldwide mourning all the while millions of other people will die in horrific circumstances. I will never understand the admiration or respect that the RF have.

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 08/09/2022 15:11

She did look incredibly frail recently.

KittyCatsby · 08/09/2022 15:14

@Motnight

feel sympathy for her and her family but she's had a great innings

World's worse statement about a loved ones death.
Reads as - "Oh that's ok then because they've lived a long time anyway"
Not the best comfort for the bereaved, almost reads as you should be grateful they lived that long.

Having lost my best friend at a very young age, I hope I have good innings and I hope everyone says that when I'm old and die.

I think it's excellent to have the opportunity to have good innings and not everyone takes it the way you do.

Sparklybutold · 08/09/2022 15:18

@Motnight

I think what this alludes to is the fact this woman has enjoyed a life that many of us could only ever dream off. She is at this very moment receiving the best medical care, whilst thousands literally die agbosing deaths, alone. I cannot understand why people still fall over themselves for an institution who's very existence is grounded in the abuse of power and still exists within a shroud of protection and status that frankly is abhorrent.

Does anyone have a link to the last photo the public saw of the queen?

The picture of her meeting Liz Truss 2 days ago.

I agree. My father was 93 when he died. He had had a good innings. How can you be offended by that. It's sad when someone that old dies, but it's not tragic.

As for 96 being terrifying, my mum said that as you get older you accept that dying is likely sooner rather than later and you don't mind the thought as much. And maybe the Queen has faith and believes that she will see Philip again.

Beetr00t · 08/09/2022 15:23

This isn't the thread for "Also we are paying for all those children to go to fancy schools", bore off.

I reckon she's gone too, although I hope not as I hope her family makes it to her first.

NightCrow · 08/09/2022 15:24

I feel quite emotional ....she's been the Queen all my life.

I think the TV coverage is quite ghoulish - there are certain circumstances where privacy should be respected. Hopefully though the RF might be able to set their differences aside and pull together and start to heal.
