Trying to decide whether I need one in my life. Tell me your last 3 air fryer meals, best snack and a bonus question why it’s the best kitchen appliance you’ve got.

OP posts:
Antarcticant · 06/09/2022 20:36

Air fryer baby roast potatoes and chicken
Air fryer jackets with tuna
Air fryer chips and venison grills

Best appliance because it needs no pre-heating and cooks in half the time of the oven, but unlike the microwave it makes things crispy.

Antarcticant · 06/09/2022 20:37

Sorry, forgot to add I don't normally have cooked snacks so that q is n/a.

BettyOBarley · 06/09/2022 20:40

Meatballs
Chicken breast, corn on cob & sweet potato wedges
Jacket potatoes

I've only had it less than a week, so not done any snacks!

Best appliance as it cooks in half the time of the oven, cheaper and everything tastes so much nicer!

Prefernottosay · 06/09/2022 20:41

Salmon and baby roast potatoes.
Chips
Roast veg

I was dithering like you OP. I bought a really cheap one. I love it. I’m thinking about a Ninja in a couple of months time I’ll see how I go.

Ostryga · 06/09/2022 20:43

I got a dual drawer one and haven’t used the oven since (fuck you Ovo Energy!!)

It costs a fraction of the oven and you can cook basically everything in it. Mine even fits a chicken to roast and it comes out amazingly. Far better than oven roasted.

That and a slow cooker is going to be my go to for the rest of this calamity.

JubileeTrifle · 06/09/2022 20:43

Long peppers with haloumi
garlic bread (to go with some pasta)
fish cakes and chips

StrikeandRobin · 06/09/2022 20:44

Tofu in bbq sauce and sweet potato fries.

Airfryer pizza (flour & Greek yogurt for the dough-Amazing!)

DH cooked his bacon & hash browns in it for brunch at the weekend.

cook from frozen greggs sausage rolls for starving teen
popcorn chicken for starving teen.

We resisted for so long but DF gave us his as he wasn’t using it. We wish it was bigger so get the biggest one you can. We can’t cook all elements of a meal for all of us due to the size so will get a bigger one when this dies.

Best -my Kenwood food processor. It’s 30+ years old (DM hardly used it), has a separate jug attachment and can do everything from grate, shred, blend, whisk -it’s brilliant.

Yes, I've had mine about four months now and haven't used the oven. Mine is single drawer.

HyggeandTea · 06/09/2022 20:44

Crispy chicken and herby veg
Burgers and wedges
Honey roast gammon and chips

Grilled (airfryed!) bacon and cheese sandwiches

Got a 5.5l Corsori and I love, love, love it!

BettyOBarley · 06/09/2022 20:44

JubileeTrifle · 06/09/2022 20:43

Long peppers with haloumi
garlic bread (to go with some pasta)
fish cakes and chips

That's the other thing I love about the air fryer, you're not turning your oven on for half an hour just for a garlic bread or some spring rolls to go with your meal.

AtomicBlondeRose · 06/09/2022 20:45

Courgette loaf (tea bread/cake type)
Oven chips and onion rings to go with ham and egg (ham joint done in air fryer the day before)
Roast chicken

Best snack-type thing in it is cheese toasties which are amazing!

JohnsShirt · 06/09/2022 20:46

Crispy tofu to go in a stir fry
Halloumi to go in wraps with salad
Pizza

Toasties, which are more a light meal than snack.

QuebecBagnet · 06/09/2022 20:47

Jacket potato and salmon
potato gratin
Breaded mozzarella sticks
fruit crumble.

I use it instead of the oven

LipbalmOrKnickers · 06/09/2022 20:48

I only have a small airfryer, so it's more of a snacks/sides machine here.

Super lazy cooked snack:

Tin of small new potatoes. Drained, rinsed, quartered and tossed in olive oil. Into the air-fryer on high, twenty minutes later, little baby roasties.

Air-fryer chickpeas are also surprisingly satisfying, same as above, just add seasoning to suit.

I dithered over getting one for ages, now contemplating getting a larger one so I can do more in it. My best kitchen appliance will always be my slow-cooker though!

YellowHouze · 06/09/2022 20:49

Baked potatoes, corn on the cob, bacon. Ninja dual. It’s great. My DC can use it safely (using tongs to get the food out) and they enjoy being independent.

It also does really good potato wedges and baby roast potatoes with a bit of oil and garlic. Croissants are quick and so are those little part baked rolls - they can go in from frozen and are done in minutes.

The only thing is that is cooks so quickly there is a risk of burning, I go for half the recommended time now before checking, and it’s often done then.

JubileeTrifle · 06/09/2022 20:49

All this. DD is coeliac so lots of her rolls tend to be part bake. 5 minutes in the air fryer is amazing!

HyggeandTea · 06/09/2022 20:49

Oh yes..and garlic bread.

Use part baked rolls, split down the middle and fill generously with garlic butter (1 crushed clove to about 50g butter and a bit of salt).
Pre heat airfryer, then cook at around 180 for 5-10 minutes (check them after 5)

Absolutely stunning.

Timeforabiscuit · 06/09/2022 20:49

Salmon and roasted new potatoes
Roast dinner trimmings (frozen roast potatoes epic and i usually hate them, aunt Bessie's parsnips terrible - I think the fat blew off!)
Roasted mediteranean veg and falafel

Snacks
Toasted cheese sandwich, epic
Warm sausage rolls

byvirtue · 06/09/2022 20:53

Banana & choc chip loaf
courgette fries
meatballs (to go in homemade tomato sauce)

snack wise I freeze balls of cookie dough and bung them in the airfryer when I fancy one.

JubileeTrifle · 06/09/2022 20:54

Oh I’d like to add roasted gnocchi as also awesome.

BlancmanegeBunny · 06/09/2022 20:54

Cooked from scratch:-
Pitta bread pizza.
Garlic and herb roasted chicken.
Chicken tikka.

Reheated
Pancake rolls and salt and pepper chips.
Garlic bread.

Mine is a cheapie 4 L one from Wilko. I love it, great for heating tarts, pies, pasties, coissants, quiche etc. I cook from scratch and it makes amazing chicken satay, coated crispy chicken etc

Thereisnoname · 06/09/2022 20:55

Only had one for a few weeks and like it but not finding it cooks things super fast like I've seen lots of other people saying theirs does. Do you put everything on at a high temperature?

JudgeRindersMinder · 06/09/2022 20:57

Chicken tikka
Roast chicken+roast potatoes+yorkshires
Sausages

we domt do snacks so can’t help with that

carlandellie · 06/09/2022 20:58

Don't get an air fryer get a ninja foodi 7 in 1, we switched from an air fryer last year and I literally only use the oven for pizzas now it's never on.
I used the ninja to make chicken curry last night, mac and cheese the night before and tonight we had grilled garlic chicken with baby potatoes.

Winterisc0ming · 06/09/2022 21:03

Cant actually remember as we've been away.
I've made a stir fry since we got back. Meat and veg cooked in the air fryer. Only noodles had to cook separately.
