Trying to decide whether I need one in my life. Tell me your last 3 air fryer meals, best snack and a bonus question why it’s the best kitchen appliance you’ve got.

Shamelessly following.

champagneplanet · 06/09/2022 21:14

A full roast chicken (took 40 mins)
Pizza and homemade chips
Jacket potatoes

You need one in your life. Best thing i've bought in ages. The food cooks quicker and just tastes fresher.

Oh I’d like to add roasted gnocchi as also awesome.

Wow! How long ?

ReginaPerrin · 06/09/2022 21:18

Chips (home made but frozen ones come out really well too)
Chicken breast with mushrooms and peppers
Falafel

Snack: frozen sausage roll.

It’s currently my favourite appliance as it’s easy to clean, doesn’t take quite as long to cook food as an oven (any pre-heating required is just 2 mins tops) and the food seems crispier. I started with a very basic and relatively cheap air fryer but have upgraded to a bigger fancier one. Hardly use the oven at all now.

comfortablyfrumpy · 06/09/2022 21:20

Stuffed mushrooms and roast cauli
Fish burgers (Aldi buttermilk ones - yum) and chips
Quorn sausages and jackets

Snack - low carb cheese crackers I make just for me.

I love mine. And a major bonus i find in not having to put oven on is safety. I have a 2 year old with development delay/disabilities. He cant walk but can crawl and is obsessed with doors. He has to be in same room as me or freaks out. I couldnt put oven on without him wanting to touch the door. Love love the air fryer.

Greenstar22 · 06/09/2022 21:22

Roast potatoes and chicken drumsticks
Salmon and Mediterranean veg
Sausages

I got the ninja dual max after having a smaller one for a while. If you're getting one get the biggest one you can. I really rate it, only had it a week but not used the oven except for a large pizza

WhizzFizz · 06/09/2022 21:25

Today, sausages and onions, yesterday chicken in panko breadcrumbs , Sunday roast potatoes. I don't do snacks.
My big oven has hardly ever been on since I bought my air fryer.

Oooh, would you be able to share the recipe for the low carb crackers at all please? They sound lovely.

torthecatlady · 06/09/2022 21:28

We love roasting a chicken in ours. It stayed surprisingly moist!

Jacket potatoes are amazing in the air fryer. And roast potatoes for that matter!

We also cook boneless chicken thighs with fajita seasoning in it! Would thoroughly recommend.

ChonkyDonkey · 06/09/2022 21:32

Get yourself on TikTok and search air fryer. There are loads hints, tips and recipes and you can see how they turn out.

pogostickplastique · 06/09/2022 21:33

I have converted to using my Russell Hobbs 8in1 multi cooker and my airfryer for almost all meals. Godsend

ScarlettDarling · 06/09/2022 21:35

Do most air fryers just have one deepish drawer? And if so, can you only put things in a single layer?
Trying to figure out if I’d be able to cook a meal for 4 in it, eg 4 salmon fillets and wedges.

pumpkinpie01 · 06/09/2022 21:35

I got one on fb market place a year ago for a fiver as it needed cleaning , best £5 ever spent !

nancyglancey · 06/09/2022 21:36

Roasted tomatoes for breakfast (on toast)
Sausages and potato wedges
Fresh rolls (those part-baked ones)

It doesn't need heating time and is pretty easy to clean.

DorotheaDiamond · 06/09/2022 21:36

Stewed apple (my god the mess on the heating ring…pressure cooked it much too long)

whole roast chicken (2kg bird)

roast squash (15 mins!!!)

StarDolphins · 06/09/2022 21:38

Salmon
jacket potato
chicken nuggets for my DD

snack - spring rolls

Saves a massive amount of time & money & no pre-heating.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/09/2022 21:41

My favourite thing is 5 mins for lovely roast cherry tomatoes which I just now use as a side with ready meals or crispy fried kale.

Love it!!!

Which model do you have that fits a large chicken in @DorotheaDiamond?

BigEnergy · 06/09/2022 21:44

I am very interested and always follow these threads! Those of you cooking big meals e.g whole roast chickens, family meals for 4, what size did you get? I don't know where to start but keep reading that ninja ones are the best and worth the money.

LostMyUserName · 06/09/2022 21:44

Ostryga · 06/09/2022 20:43

I got a dual drawer one and haven’t used the oven since (fuck you Ovo Energy!!)

It costs a fraction of the oven and you can cook basically everything in it. Mine even fits a chicken to roast and it comes out amazingly. Far better than oven roasted.

That and a slow cooker is going to be my go to for the rest of this calamity.

Which dual drawer one do you have @Ostryga?

Ninja 11 in 1. Was a bit of a squash but came out fab!

Wow! How long ?

Omg I don’t know! But not as long as the oven. Tossed in some olive oil and kept shaking it and sticking it back in till it was crispy, about 10 minutes?
