She's worked so hard all her life, often putting the country before her family. I think we've been so lucky to have her.

Yeah, you can tell looking at her family.

headstone · 06/09/2022 18:14

flexible or easily swayed. Hard to know what she really believes.

She has strong beliefs about cheese.

Doesn’t everyone start as a communist and end up a Tory?

And history and rituals matter.

Without them we are in chaos.

"Hello Liz, nice to meet you"

"Nice to meet you too, Liz"

Grin

The Queen looks increasingly very frail. I shall be sad when she goes - but am not really sure if that's to do with her or just because I think of her reign and all the people I've known whose Queen she has been. Great grandparents, grandparents, parents who have never know anyone else. Her passing will make me think of those I have lost and the passing of time and memories. I think that's why.

Crikey how young are you that your great grandparents were born before 1952? My mum was born under George VI and my Nan has seen off George V and Edward VIII.

itsgettingweird · 06/09/2022 18:25

Got to hand it to HRH QE she never fails to look beautiful.

She is looking frail though. As most would at 96!

Not that young!

It's my parents who have never known any other monarch Grin. All the others have but also lived during the Queen's reign. My great grandparents went in the late 80s when I was a child.

My parents were born in 1956/59.

I think Prince Charles has worked hard. And he's only going to work harder and harder as he gets older and is king. He's been ahead of his time with all sorts of ideas. Princess Anne works,so hard. She did work engagements in the way to the Royal wedding. Edward and Sophie do plenty of work.

HM for the Queen, not HRH. Smile

Why does she need her handbag in her own drawing room?
Is it for the signalling?

j712adrian · 06/09/2022 18:42

goodness me how frail the boss looks....

Do you know nothing? 🙄
It's for her marmalade sandwich in case she gets peckish. 😁

Love she’s got a cardie on!

And a fire in the room. It must be chilly up there 🤣

JaninaDuszejko · 06/09/2022 19:34

The Queen has an old Victorian detached house in the Highlands, of course she has a warm fire on in September. And if she has heart issues as the bruising on her hand suggests then she'll feel the cold.

itsgettingweird · 06/09/2022 19:37

As I wrote it motherofpearl I knew it wasn't right but couldn't figure out why 🤦‍♀️

It depends on what your definition of hard work is, I suppose.

I think she seems like a lovely lady but I really dont think she has worked hard. She has a life of absolute privilege

Xpologog · 06/09/2022 19:56

My first thought was that fire should have a guard around it.

Fireblanket · 06/09/2022 20:05

The buttonholes on her cardy are stretched, suggesting that she actually wears it done up sometimes. I like that! she'll be having to wear it done up AND a pair of thermals underneath once the energy bills hit. oh, but wait a minute...

noodlezoodle · 06/09/2022 20:32

That smile is the smile of a woman who knows she never has to deal with Boris Johnson ever again.

You can be privileged and work hard!

dementedma · 06/09/2022 20:40

HM is tiny. My boss meets her every year at a particular event. He isnt tall but looks enormous next to her.
She is a teeny weeny Queeny but still referred to as The Boss by all in the military

hopeishere · 06/09/2022 15:49

The bruising on her hands looks like the type my mum has when she had a canula in her hand.

I thought that too. She’s not well at all.

My great-grandfather was born in the 1820s 😮

bellinisurge · 06/09/2022 22:25

Definitely had a cannula on her hand. Looked just like my mum's did. And that almost waxen look.
I hope she's comfortable - I mean, I know as the Queen she'll be comfortable- I mean in herself. I wish that for any person at that stage in their life.
