Carrie's dress today

Am I the only one who thinks that at every formal occasion she tries to upstage Boris?

Shocking pink today, often in red at important occasions.

Her dress today has an open back, slit to the waist from just below the neckline.

She's going to meet the Queen.

Sorry, but regardless of your politics I just think she has no idea how to dress.

Or maybe she does if she's seeking attention.

How , in this day and age , is it not 'appropriate' to meet the queen in ?
The queen is a person , just like anyone else and hopefully the whole shambles that is the Royal Family will come to an end one day.

I hadn’t seen that Toomuch it looked different on the news earlier. Hmmm I dunno why she would do that on purpose - maybe the lighting or camera flashes had that effect?

Oh get off her case. She looks fine. Looks appropriate.

" wet day in Balmoral " etc She'll be indoors.

And good riddance.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 06/09/2022 13:26

What was Boris wearing? Any comment on his ensemble? Or do you just save your ire for what women do and wear, OP?

Considering the damage that Boris has done to the country, you'd think that this would be the main gripe but no. Carrie's dress. Pathetic.

BeggarsMeddle · 06/09/2022 13:30

Am I showing my age if I say I think a slip in a slightly heavier fabric worn under the dress would have helped lessen the cling factor?

To be fair there's only so many times you can say "he looks like he grabbed the last thing off the sale rack in Burton Menswear then leapt into a bramble patch".

IsadoraQuagmire · 06/09/2022 13:33

I'm not particularly keen on that one (mostly because I'm too fair to look good in that shade of pink) but I've seen loads of photos of her wearing various dresses I've absolutely loved and would like to wear myself. I think she dresses very nicely and she has lovely hair too (I'm not a fan of hers in any other way though!)

SaharaSahara · 06/09/2022 13:36

I liked it especially the colour

bloodyunicorns · 06/09/2022 13:42

Is she wearing a black bikini under it?!

Was there really no more suitable dress she could find?!

Damnautocorrect · 06/09/2022 13:44

Sorry i can’t see what’s wrong either. The cling is not ideal. But you’d probably not bargain for that when trying on.

and I can’t stand the pair of cunts.

Arnaquer · 06/09/2022 13:50

What on earth she sees in that clown I will never know. I hope she runs off with a younger model now he's served his purpose, give him a taste of his own medicine

greenhousegal · 06/09/2022 13:54

They are gone and I have no interest in either of them. Out damned spot, out I say!

Imissmoominmama · 06/09/2022 13:58

It’s only slightly see through because the wind has billowed it out straight. There’s enough fabric in that skirt for it to be perfectly opaque when standing still, or walking normally.

I can’t stand the woman, but there’s nowt wrong with that dress.

Louise0701 · 06/09/2022 14:05

I think she looks great!

NC12345665 · 06/09/2022 14:21

Good grief, it's ankle length, has a high neck and long sleeves. Hardly worth getting in a tizzy about.

But no limit to the time and energy necessary to critique what a woman is wearing, eh?

Thymeout · 06/09/2022 14:33

For an event taking place outside at 7.30 a.m., followed by an audience with the Queen, mid-morning, in her country residence? Yes, it was inappropriate. The Queen herself was wearing a tweed skirt and a jersey. Carrie was only invited as 'spouse'.

But I've never been a fan of the girlie, frilly, flouncy, Goldilocks look she seems to go for. Almost as if she's trying to emphasise the difference in their ages? Perhaps that's what Boris likes, trophy-wife, young enough to be his daughter.

Tough on his grown-up kids.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 06/09/2022 14:38

I do not like tweed. The Queen does. Fair enough then that she should wear it as often as she does.

dmask · 06/09/2022 14:39

If I looked like her I would wear far more revealing clothing on a daily basis 😂

I'm sure if Boris had been wearing a see through suit everyone would have been commenting. He wasn't so the OP didn't.

LaundryBin · 06/09/2022 14:41

I really like her dresses, which irritates me a bit as I don't like her. I think I'm the only person in the world who admires her interior decorating taste as well 😂Actually the dress sense and the interiors are quite similar, she could be dressed as her own sofa.

Arbesque · 06/09/2022 14:42

It's also see through and backless. Fine if you're off to a ball, ridiculous for your husband's final day in the job.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 06/09/2022 14:47

No, Arbesque, they would not. Boris-in-the-nude even would be written off/laughed off as 'that's just Boris'. In the same way that his carefully choreographed but frankly outrageous 'antics' are accepted as humanising him. The same consideration though was not afforded to Theresa May (then PM) when she was dancing in a manner that some women thought 'poor'. That lady's dancing technique and outfit she was wearing was roundly and thoroughly criticised.

What about that then?

catandcoffee · 06/09/2022 14:52

I love the dress.

I love Theresa May's shoes.

We,England, appear to have a very weird idea about what's appropriate dress wise.....why ?
