  • country, region, city, town -

Just returned recently from Croatia, and we visited Rovinj. We've travelled a fair bit, but Rovinj is hands down the most beautiful little place I've ever been.

I need to ditch the kids with Granny and head back for a child free weekend of wine bars and little patios over the yacht-filled sea.

Stunning.

Anyone else have any places that just felt truly spectacular?

A Nile sunset near Qena, a tiny beach in the west on Anguilla, the Setouchi islands in Japan…

Triglav National park and the Soča river in Slovenia - was like entering Narnia (and indeed one of the Narnia films was made there).

The mountains around Merano in the Italian South Tyrol - just so idyllic and pretty.

@SkygardenTower @Mcintosh I’d love to know what areas of the west coast of Scotland you love if there’s any in particular? 😊 It’s where I live and I sometimes feel like I take it for granted and don’t spend enough time exploring!!

Agree with others mentioning some places in Majorca. It’s my happy place and some of the views are just stunning 😊 Looking out from the viewpoint at Cap de Formentor is beautiful

Wistmans Wood, Black A Tor and Piles Copse woods in Dartmoor

The top of monte baldo in Italy, Italian alps on one side and lake garda on the other. Beautiful, well worth the cable car up!

All about the beaches for me….

Camusdarach (west Scotland)
zanzibar
The Maldives (meerufenfushi and komandoo were the best ones)
Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands
and an little cove in Majorca called Cala figuera (not a beach but a little port)

I clearly need to live by the sea!

The Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Went there on my own when it was fairly quiet, it was magical.

The monastery of Saint Simon, near Aleppo, Syria. It's up a high hill and once up there (in the right season) it's so quiet that you can hear the seeds rattling in their pods in the trees. Endless views too.

It was wonderful in 2010. Needless to say, it may be different now.

Yes though we made the mistake of walking down as there was a long line for the cable car.

It was the first time in my life I realized youth is not always a substitute for fitness. I thought I was going to die.

BunsyGirl · 04/09/2022 22:35

Moorea, French Polynesia
Big Island, Hawaii - particularly the Northeastern coast which has amazing waterfalls

ThickCutSteakChips · 04/09/2022 22:35

I have been lucky to go to many, many beautiful places.

But the most beautiful place I've ever seen remains Yosemite Park. There is a viewpoint you can drive up to, Glacier Point and you can see the whole park from there, the half dome, the whole of Yosemite Falls - its so unbelievably beautiful. And I saw it when I was quite young and didn't even really appreciate things like nice views!!!
