What is the most beautiful place you've ever been?

  • country, region, city, town -

Just returned recently from Croatia, and we visited Rovinj. We've travelled a fair bit, but Rovinj is hands down the most beautiful little place I've ever been.

I need to ditch the kids with Granny and head back for a child free weekend of wine bars and little patios over the yacht-filled sea.

Stunning.

Anyone else have any places that just felt truly spectacular?

La Sagrada família in Barcelona. Felt a peace there I’ve never experienced before. The sun was streaming through the stained glass windows. Stunningly beautiful.

Pixiedust49 · 04/09/2022 21:56

Amalfi Coast

Samanabanana · 04/09/2022 21:56

The Canadian Rockies, ever since we went I've dreamed of going back! So jaw droppingly majestic.

Yosemite.

Oh I agree

Sunset of Aberystwyth beach was pretty special a few weeks ago, mid Wales on a sunny day is hard to beat, I will add I’d been many times over many years before I’d seen a sunny day!

Sunrise in the French Alps was pretty special.

Saint-Cirq-Lapopie in Lot is the prettiest village I’ve seen.

Clearly I love hills..

Bobovisca n/m on Brac is my latest crush. Going there tomorrow 😁

wonderstuff · 04/09/2022 21:59

I know it’s not strictly the same as these, as it’s not a natural wonder - but the temple of Karnak in Egypt is pretty beautiful.

LubaLuca · 04/09/2022 22:03

Na Pali coast and Waimea Canyon on Kauai. Genuinely awesome.

Bruges took me by surprise - it really is a fucking fairytale, I felt a bit overwhelmed in a couple of quiet corners there.

OnceRuralNowUrbanbliss · 04/09/2022 22:03

Stresa, Lake Maggiore, Italy

OnceRuralNowUrbanbliss · 04/09/2022 22:03

Oh and Negril, Jamaica

avamiah · 04/09/2022 22:04

The Hawaiian islands.
I was lucky enough to visit Honolulu many years ago and stayed in Maui for a few days and it really was breathtaking.

Whatawasteofcats · 04/09/2022 22:04

Falzarego, Italy 😍

ClearButtons · 04/09/2022 22:04

New Zealand for me! Esp the south - queenstown lake is just amazing!

MsTSwift · 04/09/2022 22:05

Venice in 2020. Empty. Unforgettable.

MuthaHubbard · 04/09/2022 22:06

So far, Bellagio, Lake Como
Will definitely be jotting down some of these suggestions for future travel - great thread

squashyhat · 04/09/2022 22:07

For completely different reasons: the Grand Canyon and the Bund in Shanghai.

triggers34 · 04/09/2022 22:08

Wilson's prom in Victoria Australia.

feckingknackered · 04/09/2022 22:08

This is a great thread! I've been looking for DP's 40th birthday and can't decide between Croatia and Florence. There's been a few Croatia mentions here.
I love Ireland personally, so many parts are beautiful

Nannyamc · 04/09/2022 22:08

Banff and lake louise in Canada. November a winter paradise.

Badgerforbreakfast · 04/09/2022 22:08

I’m not particularly well travelled but have been to a few places.

However, I just stare around in awe every time we go anywhere further up Loch Lomond really. I can never believe how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful country, it’s just breathtaking.

El Cotillo in Fuerteventura. Beautiful.

Ooo yes agreed - beaches are stunning and off the beaten track

JohnBetjeman · 04/09/2022 22:08

Slough. Oh no, not Slough I meant Hammerfest in Norway. Damn autocorrect!

Gherkingreen · 04/09/2022 22:09

The Grand Canyon at sunrise is literally breathtaking; the Gaudi house in Barcelona is magical, and beautiful. Mount Fuji national park, just incredible. The giant redwood forest near San Francisco is one of the most peaceful, beautiful and uplifting places I've ever visited.
