What is the most beautiful place you've ever been?

  • country, region, city, town -

Just returned recently from Croatia, and we visited Rovinj. We've travelled a fair bit, but Rovinj is hands down the most beautiful little place I've ever been.

I need to ditch the kids with Granny and head back for a child free weekend of wine bars and little patios over the yacht-filled sea.

Stunning.

Anyone else have any places that just felt truly spectacular?

Mull

and the Alhambra.

First thing in the morning, go up the hill and be transported. I had *moments there.

But the Westoscoatlan takes some beating, as a whole.

Lake Bled.

MissAmbrosia · 04/09/2022 22:14

The castello in Ischia, Bay of Naples.
Capriciolli beach in Sardinia.
Bonifacio in Corsica
Gassin in the South of France near St Tropez
Lake Maggiore, Stresa and the Borromean islands
Villa Balbienello on Lake Como.
Sunset over Vernazza in Liguria.

We went very close to Rovinj this year but not actually to it. Now I'm regretting it! Pula was nice though.

My top would be Plitvice lakes in Croatia.

Agua Azul in Mexico (nearly 30 years ago).

Redwood forests in N California

Lake Garda was stunning.

Eyesopenwideawake · 04/09/2022 22:16

The Ring of Kerry, Ireland. Granted it's been over 25 years since I drove around it but it was just jaw droppingly serene and so beautiful.

BrightBlueFlamingo · 04/09/2022 22:16

Oh and Prague, gothic fairy tale splendour😍

NotQuiteUsual · 04/09/2022 22:19

Seaham beach. Little caves, seaglass everywhere, the way the beach is down the little cliffs. It feels like that beach is all there is in the whole world. It's like a tiny world of its own.

Emmab321 · 04/09/2022 22:19

Lake Garda . Unbelievably beautiful

Culling ridge, skye. (by which I mean on it, not looking at it)

Suzi888 · 04/09/2022 22:22

Following….
Buzios Brazil pita to get to but worth it. (Many moons ago!)

lightisnotwhite · 04/09/2022 22:22

Villefranche sur mer. Between Nice and Monaco.
Not only super pretty itself , the view is of sea and Cap Ferret and it’s one of those places you feel you could live there and live your best life.

Said this on a previous thread, in and around the Mournes. Every view is different from misty mountains to clear blues skies and dappled sunlight.

Drove home tonight & the sky was a breathtaking display as the sun went down, passed a small local lough with the glorious pinks, blues & gold of the sky reflected in it.

There are many things to love about so many places but Co.Down is on my doorstep and sometimes I just cannot believe my luck at being born, raised and living amongst such beauty.

Beefilm · 04/09/2022 22:24

Wineglass Bay in Tasmania if we were showing off our far flung travels.

But for me there is no place more beautiful than the North Cornish coast path.

FayeGovan · 04/09/2022 22:25

Glencoe
