When was the last time you felt total and utter joy?

I just thought this morning, I can’t remember when I last felt like that. That feeling of happiness, freedom, contentment, joy. Which is really sad.

I thought maybe reading others moments of joy might give me some joyspiration.

Or if others feel similar help me to feel less alone.

I am usually a miserable sod but someone gave me a horse recently, along with free grazing. It is a childhood dream come true and I and I cried with happiness.

Scarecrowrowboat · 01/09/2022 14:04

Every time I drink a really really good coffee I get a connected to the universe, pure joy, true happiness feeling.

Donttouchit · 01/09/2022 14:05

I must be lucky, I often feel joy.
Walking in the hills with my dear friend and her dog in the sunshine.
Watching Cold Play live at Wembley
Drinking and laughing with DP at a restaurant
DD getting the job she really wanted and has been working towards for years

Dinoswearunderpants · 01/09/2022 14:07

Every time my son laughs/is happy gives me utter joy.

eldorado02 · 01/09/2022 14:08

Yesterday, swimming in the clear sea on holiday in the hot sun, and seeing my five year old experience the wonder of fish in their natural habitat for the first time. We are so lucky to have this joy in our lives right now and it’s a memory I’ll treasure when the days aren’t as good.

courgettigreensadwater · 01/09/2022 14:09

@saveforthat sending all the best wishes. You deserve ALL the joy x

Last Sunday, went for a walk with DH

His mobility problems had been increasing, he used to travel a lot, and claimed it was travelling that exhausted him. Only during covid being together 24hrs a day did I realise quite how difficult moving around had got for him.

Covid gave him the excuse to stay at home for long enough for me to be worried about his mental health.

Then DSS persuaded him to get a mobility scooter, he found one he liked and is suddenly enthusiastic about being outdoors again.

Walking thru the park, the sky was blue, the sun was shining and all is good with our lives. #happy.

I feel joy all the time to be honest. I have a great life and I’m so lucky. I feel very grateful.

Bagpuss2022 · 01/09/2022 14:11

At a recent westlife concert at Wembley for someone who barely leaves the house due to my mental health it made me feel alive for the first time in years and has given me a sense of purpose to carry on

Reader57 · 01/09/2022 14:11

In a bar with live music in the States, visiting my daughter for the first time in 3 years - we just danced all night, total and utter joy…

MrsC3PO · 01/09/2022 14:11

When I found out I was pregnant from IVF. Never felt anything like it, happiness just wasn't the word, it was so much more!! ,just every perfect emotion in one go, amazing feeling and the fact that it happened to me twice was mind blowing, literally felt on top of the world and screamed with joy 😊

Sunshinebluebells · 01/09/2022 14:16

This will sound silly, but I am in the process of getting my teeth straightened with aligners. After having such awful squint teeth for so long and never smiling, it makes me so happy to see my teeth becoming straighter every week. I have a daily smile to myself looking in the mirror as I brush my teeth 😀.

Also still get excited if I find some money in old clothes, handbags or down the back of furniture! I’m delighted with finding a £2 coin 😆.

UrgentScurryfunge · 01/09/2022 14:16

Twice in the past month.

On a boat trip this summer with warm sunshine sparkling on the water, a gentle warm breeze from the boat's motion and dolphins swimming around us.

Runner's high after a trail race that went well.

I get a lot of highs from running and open water swimming. Nature lifts my soul a lot, and exercising in nature is a powerful combination.

onmywayamarillo · 01/09/2022 14:18

I do feel joy quite often too

Scoring a goal against my very talented football playing son

Watching the dog make weird faces when we had a fake convo and mentioned her favourite words

Snuggling up to my youngest son

Laughing my head off to point of crying with my best mate

Watching the rain
Swimming in the sea

Paying off my mortgage and knowing I might be all right in old age (panicked last year realised I'm very old) and needed to sort it out!

Endless simple things give me joy.. being grateful for everything I do have in my life has made a huge difference to me, compared to my 20/30's when I was miserable

Zebrasandfairytales · 01/09/2022 14:18

These are making me feel all emotional. How wonderful for you all. Some really lovely ones and good inspiration.

Definitely think I need to get out in nature and fresh air more during the week. and start noticing the little things people are mentioning. Coffee. Sun. Laughter.

Reading these it appears being out in nature ideally with a pet dog is the key to joy !

Fupoffyagrasshole · 01/09/2022 14:33

all the time - i live my life how i want and do things that make me happy

notpastaagain · 01/09/2022 14:34

Flying a kite a few weeks ago on a particularly windy day. :)

TheSmallThings8 · 01/09/2022 14:35

I got up really grumpily this morning to take my dog out and caught the sunrise. It was a glorious vivid red. I felt very moved by that. And joyous that I had caught it.
Just like a previous poster - watching my dog's unbridled joy at running in a wood or on a beach, really brings you into the moment.
And this week I jumped for joy when I got over the river for the first time on a particular hole on the golf course! I have only started playing recently.

To the original poster - I used to do a gratitude list every morning, starting off with 3 things, then up to 5 and I found that this really helps you see more of the things that are already in your life. I hope you find more joy.

ItsnotaHenryMoore · 01/09/2022 14:36

I've been very lucky recently to start work for a lovely charity which requires me to travel a lot, by the sea in the beautiful west country and, as a bonus, to the Channel Islands. I feel joy quite frequently!

YukoandHiro · 01/09/2022 14:37

Before I had my children, tbh, though I wouldn't be without them. What a weird thing parenthood isn't.

YukoandHiro · 01/09/2022 14:38
  • what a weird thing parenthood IS!

YESSS!!!!!

AuntieDolly · 01/09/2022 14:40

Call me shallow, but I had a really wonderful day out a t the Tiffany exhibition recently.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 01/09/2022 14:41

Yesterday, scurrying across the bridge between Westfield Stratford and the old Stratford shopping centre, over train tracks, with weird mushroom sculptures and bright sun and ominous clouds overhead, trying to catch up with DS and his friend on scooters. We haven't been that way since before the pandemic and they are twice the height now - I just had a feeling that life is very good.
