When was the last time you felt total and utter joy?

I just thought this morning, I can’t remember when I last felt like that. That feeling of happiness, freedom, contentment, joy. Which is really sad.

I thought maybe reading others moments of joy might give me some joyspiration.

Or if others feel similar help me to feel less alone.

It's nice to be able to share a positive update! I joined an alcohol and drug recovery programme at the beginning of November and my whole life has changed for the better. I am getting my love for life back and also my self worth amongst many other rewards. I'm starting to gain calmness and peace in my mind. I have more good days than bad now and I make decisions that will add to my happiness. It's amazing ❤️

That's amazing!! It's wonderful when people realise they really do have the power to change things for themselves from within, and it's not something that everyone can do on their own. Acknowledgment that help is needed is a huge step.

I wish my mother had reached out rather than telling everyone nothing was wrong but inadvertently taking everyone in her orbit down with her.

Finding little pockets of happiness that were mine and couldn't be taken away by anyone was a snatched fleeting of joy for me.

I had to write poetry and stories under the bed covers though as we were not allowed books growing up.

And then I had this absolutely massive, wonderful library with thousands of books to read when I went to university - I was the first person in my family to go to uni and they could not understand how anyone could actually like reading and writing.

Absolute heaven.

I live near a small waterfall, and most evenings I go for a very quick swim. As it's getting darker earlier now I often catch the very last rays of sun or the sky turning pink. There is never anyone there but me and I can swim naked.

The water is too cold to stay in for long but it is utterly all encompassing. For those minutes I don't think about anything, just experience the moment and revel in it. That brings me joy.

Will it still in a few weeks time is the question, and if not what can replace it?

Oh wow!! I would absolutely love to live near such a place. I used to go to a retreat in the Highlands near a beautiful Loch. I swam in it every day. On the last day I swam very early in the morning when there was no one around. The sun was coming up and all of nature seemed to be with me. Birds, animals, every living thing. It was absolutely amazing.

My best experiences have been in nature. Sadly I haven’t felt real joy in a very long time. Contentment is the most I can hope for these days. Moments of pleasure. They aren’t that frequent.
