Rudest encounter with a celeb I've ever experienced

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:17

Not that I've had many!

But Christian Bale was in London 'itsu' a few months back.

He was buying something but I'd just picked it out of the chilled section. I saw he went to reach out for it at the same time so offered it to him, as I liked something else anyway

His response? 'You've touched it. Why would I want it now?'

I was really shocked at how rude he was!

I forgot to add Ronaldo. What a plastic faced bellend. Rude, entitled, obnoxious. Absolute twat.

see also the entire Manchester City squad.

Several years ago Nicole Kidman was in London doing a theatre piece. A friend of mine worked very near to the theatre and would see Nicole and her security coming and going, and she would always wave or smile or shout out, 'Hello Nicole'. Never at any time did Nicole show any acknowledgement apart from glaring at her and looking as though she was massively inconvenienced by someone saying hello. Very cold. Didn't even smile back.

Your friend sounds annoying

Esther Rantzen. Absolutely horrible woman. Only nice when on camera...

She was kind and delightful to me as a young waitress.

alliwantissleeeep · 31/08/2022 03:09

Peter Kay was an absolute swine. Really rude and up his own arse.

bluefrog11 · 31/08/2022 03:11

Will Young (years ago though….) - rude and arrogant.

Recently saw Posh & Becks at an oh-so-famous members club in Oxfordshire. They looked very normal, I panicked and smiled at VB as she walked past and she actually smiled back!!!

Austin Healey - tosser, possible drink problem.

This won’t be popular on here 😳 but met Boris Johnson when he was mayor at a charity event, lovely, bumbling and bloody funny, remembered everyone’s name.

bluefrog11 · 31/08/2022 03:13

Also nicest footballer - Sadie Mane. My son wrote to him for his black history week project and he wrote back - such a cute signed letter that he’s clearly written himself and sent a little club badge too.

Same. 😂
also Batman like all superhero films is a bit of a niche movie. And Batman is the only film I can tell you he’s be in. The likes of Clooney and Leonardo have been in a wider range of more mainstream films (and ER).

I'm old enough to remember Clooney in Rosanne.

Dontcareforthehaters · 31/08/2022 03:52

Not a bad encounter.
I have met Lisa Armstrong several times and she is a genuinely lovely woman.

autienotnaughty · 31/08/2022 04:43

I worked in a hotel ooop north and c list celebs often stayed there-

Cast of holly oaks

MissMarplesNiece · 31/08/2022 04:43

I once saw Ed Byrne at an event once. Love his comedy but he seemed very stand offish and unapproachable at the event. His eyes were like daggers lol. I wouldn't have dared approach him in case he bit my head off!

Some friends & I went to see Ed Byrnes perform live. Afterwards we were sitting in the bar having a drink and he came over and joined us. He sat with us for about an hour chatting, till the bar closed. He was very funny on stage & very nice irl.

I was once in a lift when Damon Albarn got in. He pressed a button and nothing happened so I reached past him and pressed it again and the doors closed. He huffed and sighed loudly and his bad vibes filled the lift as we ascended.

Was he a bit gassy then? 😆

Peter Andre was driving on the m25 in a white land rover years ago. He merged from the middle lane into the inside lane almost taking out the front of my car. Didn’t indicate or anything. I had to really brake hard to not go into the back of him. I beeped and overtook, he was on his phone and gave me a one finger salute.

Joe Wicks in his rise to Instagram fame. He stole pictures from my Instagram account and wrote himself a testimonial from me about how I loved his lean something plan and how my body transformed because of him. How he’d personally been accountable for keeping me accountable (??) and how we’d built a great friendship and that I valued him as a human(!).

Reality was my mother passed away and I hadn’t eaten for so long. When I commented on his post that he’d stolen my pics and I hadn’t ever heard of him let alone did his weight-loss plan, he inboxed me calling me a fucking cunt before blocking me.

RayneDance · 31/08/2022 05:13

@badbaduncle

Which restaurant,,did the staff actually try and move you?

MyMumSaysALot · 31/08/2022 05:40

Be kind to the people you meet on your way up because you’ll surely meet them again on your way down.

Or something like that.

NotYourOscarSpeech · 31/08/2022 05:42

I don’t really have any of my own that spring to mind.. I’ve seen plenty of celebrities out and about in London, but not really encounters.

DH has a senior political position and has worked with all the PMs and most senior Tories over the last 12 years. Nobody senior stands out as rude - it’s mainly junior ministers who are jumped up, finger clicking, entitled etc. More strikingly is how many are just incredibly thick with no real idea of what’s going on.

People he has met/worked with who WERE rude: Peter Jones (Dragon’s Den), James Martin, Martin Lewis. Oh; and MIL rented a flat out to Dom Littlewood who was an absolute arsehole, trashed the place; and left with significant arrears.

StandUpStraight · 31/08/2022 06:30

I remember Isla Fisher (plus glamorous girl squad) pushing past me to jump the queue and get on the ferry back to the mainland from Rottnest Island (off the coast of Western Australia) on New Year’s Day. This was probably about 25 years ago, when she was in Home and Away. We’d all been waiting (hungover and tired) for this ferry for hours and there’d been some delay with it arriving - I’ve never forgiven her. 😂

@SwissRole123 he's definitely the most famous person I've ever seen/met

I've had brief hellos to other celebs but they've all been quite minor ones such as Adam Woodyatt (very much like his character on east Enders)

Interesting.

My wife went to school with Adam Woodyatt and bumped into him in town. It was completely random as we don't live anywhere near where they went to school (mid Wales).

Anyway she went up to him, said hello and mentioned that they went to school together. He just shrugged disinterestedly and couldn't look less interested.

My wife hates soaps so was genuinely asking him how he was doing (as opposed to being star struck).

I told her she should've asked him what he was doing nowadays 😂. Rude twat.

I met Kim Jong-un a couple of years ago, he was awful. I took the last packet of crisps from the counter at Starbucks and he was so rude about it & complained to the staff that he only ate salt and vinegar crisps. They eventually placated him with a blueberry muffin but it was a tense few minutes.

😂

What gets me about stuff like this, is what do their friends actually think of them? Surely there can only be one or two guests who would enjoy a divide like this, the rest would surely feel like complete nobs being divided from the commoners.
If any of my friends were to try anything like that, I'd completely rip the piss out of them and laugh hysterically.

Maybe that's why I'm not friends with any footballers.🤔

Not all footballers are like this though. I met Arjen Robben on holiday once (once Netherlands Captain, played for Chelsea and Real Madrid so top footballer) and he was charming. Always looking after his young kids while his wife got a break and one time he and the friend he was with tried to usher me into the lift he was in ( they both had buggies so there was absolutely no room but they were being so charming about it!). Another player that people universally rave over having met him is Ray Wilkins, sadly no longer with us, absolutely lovely.

My football team is lower level (Championship) but many of our players do loads for local charities - they don't boast about it but the club sometimes does an article. And one of our best recent players now plays for a Prem club and everyone who's met him says how lovely he is.

Terry was England and Chelsea captain so it was probably not a good idea to diss him if you were a younger player. He had a lot of power. The stories I've heard about him were about how he operated in the local area as he lived quite near me. Things like parking in a disabled bay for hours when there's ample normal spaces two minutes away. Making the local Indian restaurant make chips for him. Just all round obnoxiousness. I suspect lots of players laugh about him behind his back though.

can’t stick Peter Andre.
that Joe Wicks thing is just awful. Sorry you lost your mum 💐

Goosygandy · 31/08/2022 06:46

Actually not really asking, rudely demanding was the story I was told.

paydayfun · 31/08/2022 06:55

Jane McDonald - she wouldn't speak to me as I don't have a Yorkshire accent and wasn't wearing a "Proud to be Yorkshire" badge. I've lived in Yorkshire for about 20 years and can't wait to retire somewhere else. Jane thought this was appalling!

Joking Grin

😮at Joe Wicks. That's shocking. I got slated on here once for starting a post saying that in my eyes he wasnt a hero as people were making out but a clever marketing person in the right place at the right time who made the most of an opportunity. Most people disagreed with me. He sounds vile
