Rudest encounter with a celeb I've ever experienced

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:17

Not that I've had many!

But Christian Bale was in London 'itsu' a few months back.

He was buying something but I'd just picked it out of the chilled section. I saw he went to reach out for it at the same time so offered it to him, as I liked something else anyway

His response? 'You've touched it. Why would I want it now?'

I was really shocked at how rude he was!

Several years ago Nicole Kidman was in London doing a theatre piece. A friend of mine worked very near to the theatre and would see Nicole and her security coming and going, and she would always wave or smile or shout out, 'Hello Nicole'. Never at any time did Nicole show any acknowledgement apart from glaring at her and looking as though she was massively inconvenienced by someone saying hello. Very cold. Didn't even smile back.

i imagine your friend being like this (see video below)..."Nicole, Nicole,Nicole" and La Kidman cringing every time she wanted to nip out for a sarnie...

rainingcats · 30/08/2022 21:22

Jim Davidson was spectacularly rude and awful. Members of staff in the theatre refused to work when he toured the year later.

I don’t know why people like David Walliams
he makes my skin crawl. He is dead behind the eyes and his hamming it up the is he or isn’t he gay schtick that he used to do is pathetic.

I agree - to me he is a seriously creepy person. And skin-crawlingly repugnant.

Good luck.

Well, all I can say is, whatever I did to offend you, it certainly wasn't intentional, I hope if we meet again, we can start a new page.

God.

I met God during lockdown. I was on my way up to him. I had climbed those long, white ivory steps to heaven. When I felt like I had arrived at my final destination, I was somewhat struck by the fact that I could see no 'Pearly Gates' in front of me.

I asked to speak to God and he came forth to listen to me. I must admit, I never really set the tone of our conversation right. It was hot and I was a bit pissed off, the stairlift was broken and I have not had the Millenia of patience that God has. So I did hit the beardy deity a bit hard, metaphorically speaking, and demanded either I see the 'Pearly Gates' or my soul would go to the Devil. I knew that God likes to save every one of us😉so I pushed hard for a really good deal. Whether that upset him, I do not know. I just wish now I had not put him under the pressure I had.

Well, I have to tell you that despite that stress, God was hugely apologetic and a bit of an empath. He said "I have tried to get Bill and Miranda here tonight so you can witness Bill give Miranda a lovely 'pearl necklace', but they have other commitments this evening." It was then I realised there had been a massive miscommunication. God thought I wanted to witness Bill giving Miranda a 'pearl necklace' ! 😱 It was that sort of 'Pearly Gates' God was trying to negotiate for me, but it was not what I meant.

It was then I realised that God does not always come up trumps.

Jim, Sharon, Caroline and Andrea corr all lovely. Met sharon after a concert, appeared to be drinking honey & lemon tea. Meet and greeted everyone after the concert absolutely beautiful too.

Peter kay with his wife doing a big shop in sainsburys. Poor man got so much attention from shoppers and staff. He was cracking jokes with people. Appeared pleasent enough and his wife nice too.

Kim Marsh, lovely and normal. Recognised her tatoo first. She buys healthy food. No cakes or chocolate in her shopping. All fresh fruit and vegetables.

Antoney Cotton-Came in to pay for his diesel with sunglasses on, it wasent even sunny outside. Didn't want to be recognised.

Jennifer Ellison just payed for her fuel and left.

Chesney out of corrie, dont know his real name. Appears nice and polite

A few hollyoaks cast and footballers all seem okay

Paddy out of emmerdale though he was special, didnt want to be seen, always come in with his hood up. Met him a few times.

Jason Mansford with one of his young children, again appeared normal.

Jess Glynn doesn't seem to realise she is extremely fortunate to have had any success given that she has such a hideous voice. Whenever she comes on the radio I ask myself this (and then quickly turn over).

Same! She's bloody awful!

That is kind of weird to do tho. She's just trying to go about her day.

Holly Willoughby-over confident, up her own bum and mean girl

WildFlowerBees · 30/08/2022 21:30

I think it's hard for famous people when they're going about their business and someone wants a photo or an autograph and they don't want to. They aren't public property. If people didn't put them on such high pedestals and give them names like celebrity or star perhaps some would have a lesser ego.

Horological · 30/08/2022 21:31

Prince William was behind me in the queue at Wilko's a few months ago. He had a paint roller and some emulsion and pushed past me to get to a self service till. I guess he was stressed, having to shop, decorate and look after the kids at the weekend.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/08/2022 21:31

that is fair enough @WildFlowerBees but the celeb in question was unnecessarily rude in a supermarket

Yes he was, I don't think you can be a twat if you're genuinely a kind person.

Gregg Wallace shouted at me.
I put on my Mum voice and told him NOT to speak to me like that.
His great stupid lantern jaw dropped, as did that of his “people”

Doesn't surprise me. He's an *rse

This will only interest equestrian types, but in a sport full of down to earth, well mannered people, Oliver Townend and Caroline Powell stand out as being not the most delightful people you will ever come across.

Oli Townend in particular - I passed him on my young horse, being a fellow competitor, right shoulder to right shoulder, giving him plenty of room, and smiled at him in greeting, as one does. No-one else around. He looked right at me and then right through me and deliberately ignored me. My young horse is a particularly nice one who would pass muster in any circles.

It was incredibly embarrassing. Considering he constantly tells the press about how he came from a humble background, you would think he would appreciate that some of us have to actually work for a living to afford to be able to event. Albeit some of us have been quite successful at that and might be thinking about who to send a good horse to in the future because we can now afford it, and it won't be him.

Oh that reminds me of many many years ago, I'm really old, I was at Badminton and fell over like an idiot, no horse just clumsy feet. Someone helped me to my feet and asked it I was OK, it was Richard Meade, I almost fell over again and again!

That Milton Jones guy isn’t even funny

He isn't. And ugly on the inside apparently?

I asked Nick Grimshaw at Manchester airport if my sister could have a picture taken with him. He said no and walked away! We had landed and we’re just waiting to collect luggage so it wasn’t like he had a flight to catch

I wouldn’t be too happy if I’d just come off a flight and someone was pestering me for photos.

I had the same with him in Lidl Sad. All he had was 6 giant packs of toilet rolls and a carton of potato salad and for some reason he thought that gave him the right to skip to the front of the massive queue for self service. A few of us put him in his place.

I met Oli Townsend at YHL. I think he was pissed, because he grabbed my hand and was very friendly! I love the photo of us! He told me how great he thought my home town was, he’d been out and very drunk there the week before. 🤣I met him again when he was doing a show and he was very different, polite but cool.

If he was taking part in an event he was probably in the zone as many are before they ride.

FeetupTvon · 30/08/2022 21:39

Paul Gascogne- lovely man.
Harry Redknapp- kind and charismatic.
A privilege to meet them both.

bruce43mydog · 30/08/2022 21:39

Also William Roache walked past our coach when we went to the science and industry museum in Manchester, the whole class was shouting Ken! its Ken Barlow, Ken! while banging on the coach window to get his attention. He give a smile and waved at us kids. Many years ago.

My mates kids got friendly with John Terrys children. They were invited over for a children party. There were two separate bits of the party. One for the non-celeb types children and their parents one for the celebrity parents and their children and they were kept apart by a red rope. No one was allowed in the house either.

This is fucking insane! John Terry is a nasty piece of work though. This validates why I can't stand him. Can't really look beyond his racism.

Thank you - the slight stuff made me think she was quite fragile (have observed that on SM) and yes to a drink problem. I do feel sorry for her though. Although she is doing herself no favours sharing messages the stuff IG was sending to his daughters was awful.

What was he sending to his daughters?

I know I could Google but there’s so much it’s all such a depressing mess!

I was going to say nicest celebs I've ever met were footie players - Andy Cole is top of the list. Peter Schmichel howver is bottom of the list. He got cranky with Andy who was signing autographs and had left his car in tge way whilst he did it. Schmichel honked husband horn a lot and Andy looked at him once, ignored him and carried on until he'd signed for everyone at the training ground.

I had an almost identical experience with Peter Schmichael. He was playing in a charity golf event and when he left the course, there was a young boy about 7 maybe, excited to meet him and clutching his ticket and a pen. The caddy threw his ball to the child and indicated to wait until Peter had handed in his card. My fellow marshall noticed that when Peter exited the score hut he flattened himself to the wall and slid along and behind it to avoid the little boy, he then dashed into the mini bus. My colleague chapped on the (tinted) window and loudly informed Peter to get out the bus and sign the ticket for the boy. He very sheepishly complied! Unlike Hugh Grant at the same competition, who stood for ages, talking, signing and posing - waved away the bus because the other 'slebs were harrumphing at the time he was taking. He did not leave until he was happy that everyone who wanted to speak with him had a chance to.

ivfbabymomma1 · 30/08/2022 21:45

I haven't met loads of celebs but two I've met that are absolutely lovely are lady gaga (early days) & gordon Ramsey

David Dickinson - awful 😂
