Rudest encounter with a celeb I've ever experienced

Not that I've had many!

But Christian Bale was in London 'itsu' a few months back.

He was buying something but I'd just picked it out of the chilled section. I saw he went to reach out for it at the same time so offered it to him, as I liked something else anyway

His response? 'You've touched it. Why would I want it now?'

I was really shocked at how rude he was!

I don’t think Christian Bale is anywhere near Clooney or Leonardo league. I haven’t seen a single Christian Bale film apart from Empire of the Sun. I wouldn’t recognise him if I fell over him

My mind went blank and I had to Google Clooney's filmography. I wonder why he's in the "superstar" league when his films are so forgettable.

We used to live in the same house as Tom and Jerry. Despite coming across as the underdog in most situations, Jerry was a complete arsehole in real life. He would refuse to eat the cheese we left out for him and would regularly raid the fridge for salmon and chocolate. Tom on the other hand, while coming across as a highly-strung, devious sort of character was in fact a real gentleman. When he shat in our garden he would dig a hole and bury it. Jerry used to leave little strings of mouse shit down by the skirting board and in the biscuit cupboard. Butch was an arse as well - huge great steaming turds left across the lawn and he barked a lot as well.

Marilyn Manson.

Twat.

I am literally so glad it is not just me she is awful

Theblacksheepandme · 30/08/2022 16:17

RooniIWazlib · 30/08/2022 15:57

You'd think she would avoid Ireland after what her dick of a husband did there.

As far as I know the family are friends with them.

Namechange1990 · 30/08/2022 16:17

Sorry meant to tag lady talking about Jess Glynn

My grandmother hated the queen mother all her life, because before she married the future George VI, the QM was really condescending and rude to my gran on many occasions in the 1920s. My gran was a servant so couldn't say anything back, but she always looked like thunder whenever the QM came on the TV. She held a grudge for 70 years 😂.

My friend's father was her head gardener. The QM was extremely nasty to him on several occasions. He resigned after she shouted and screamed at him in front of his team of men, for planting something 'in the wrong place'. Took a wage drop but was much happier later working for an ex-prime minister.

I met Kim Jong-un a couple of years ago, he was awful. I took the last packet of crisps from the counter at Starbucks and he was so rude about it & complained to the staff that he only ate salt and vinegar crisps. They eventually placated him with a blueberry muffin but it was a tense few minutes.

😄

There was nothing wrong with Bale's on set outburst. He is a perfectionist.

Ugh gross, of course there was. Being a "perfectionist" doesn't give you the right to scream, shout and insult people

What did he do?

Google "Matthew Broderick Ireland".

What did he do?

He was on holiday with his then girlfriend Jennifer Grey and while driving he veered into the wrong lane and collided with another car, killing the driver who was in her 20's and her mother.

Completely wrong in my thinking after googling.

Philip Glennister I saw once in a tiny card shop in East Dulwich, was with a friend and just thought, "I've seen you before!". He seemed absolutely fine though.

Apparently James Nesbitt, Jo Brand and Micky Flanagan are all supposed to live in the area (I live not far from there but not there) but I've never seen any of them. A teacher friend of mine said that when James N's kids were at school (Dulwich area?) he had a habit of either flirting with/or having affairs with local mums and was thought to be a bit of a sleaze, was a few years back though.

BoJo is apparently meant to be moving to Dulwich Village soon with Carrie and family much to the local Labour voters' chagrin - no one wants him there! Grin

xfgdhfgnhkk007 · 30/08/2022 16:18

What did he do?

Head on car crash. The other driver and passenger - a mother and daughter -
both died. He drifted into the wrong lane, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, but convicted of careless driving. (Why yes, I did just read the Wikipedia page, although I did vaguely know it already).

AnyodyAnywhere · 30/08/2022 16:28

DH does Close Protection and has worked with loads of them. One day he had a ‘small’ job with a reality ‘star’ and wasn’t looking forward to it because they’re usually the biggest pitas around. To this day he’ll tell anyone that Joey Essex is absolutely the nicest guy he’s ever worked with!

My worst was the Cilla Black. Everything you hear about her is true, she was truly vile.

Nicest was Axl Rose (yes, you read that right) a truly lovely warm, genuine man.

I had pretty much an identical experience with a Korean political leader at Heathrow.

He was kicking off in Costa because they only had sea salt and Chardonnay vinegar crisps and he wanted Walkers. One of his minders gave him a Wispa instead and he didn't even say thank you.

I don't blame him, walkers are the best. At least his minder had a whisper to hand.

Cakecakecheese · 30/08/2022 16:34

Years ago at the Clothes Show Live Katie Price and her entourage were storming towards me, I literally had to jump out of the way or I'd have been knocked down.

quietlycontent · 30/08/2022 16:34

I met Donny Osmond once lovely bloke really funny, and Kylie Minogue was very small but really nice too.

Carol Thatcher once got on a fast train and as it whizzed past West Hampstead she got more and more fraught - until she had to turn around at St Albans and go back, she was not happy at all but more flustered than actually rude. We (the all knowing commuters) were trying to stifle our laughing.

Denis Taylor, Steve Davis and Cliff Thorburn all lovely when they played snooker in the early 90s in Sheffield. Denis Taylor was really lovely and funny.

Once was Bianca from East enders get a parking ticket she was pissed off but had in fact parked in a disabled bay - sure she was just having an off day.

TheSoundOfMucus · 30/08/2022 16:35

😂😂 Cilla Black is universally described as vile on MN!

My contribution:
Michael Ball - total sweetheart and so dimply!
Joanna Lumley - gracious, charming and polite.
Imelda Staunton - down to earth and v funny.

Rosie Boycott - arrogant and up herself.
Gina McKee - beautiful, cool and remote, but in no way rude.

Several years ago Nicole Kidman was in London doing a theatre piece. A friend of mine worked very near to the theatre and would see Nicole and her security coming and going, and she would always wave or smile or shout out, 'Hello Nicole'. Never at any time did Nicole show any acknowledgement apart from glaring at her and looking as though she was massively inconvenienced by someone saying hello. Very cold. Didn't even smile back.

To be fair to NK this would be fucking annoying.

Rapidtango · 30/08/2022 16:36

Comedian Bill Bailey is just the nicest man - DS was completely tongue tied when we saw him in a park in Edinburgh but Mr Bailey was so kind and friendly.

Ade Edmondson is a tit - rude, arrogant, unpleasant.

I'd love to hear more about this. Grin

I'm glad to hear George Ezra is lovely, he always comes across as such a sweetie. (Oh god, I'm old now, I look at him fondly like a mother. I love his music and his attitude though)

Sad to hear about Patrick Stewart. In fact, I think I shall refuse to believe it, and carry on thinking he's lovely.

I haven't had any negative interactions with celebs, luckily. The few I've met have been lovely.

I met Patrick Stewart in the restaurant of a bath hotel whilst on my hen party. He was very tolerant of my drunken admiration! He was definitely lovely to one and all that day.

As a Spurs fan, this warms my heart, although as expected. Harry Kane and Son Heung Min are such wonderful role models in a sea of questionable morals of highly paid footballers.

Second the Harry Kane and Son Heung Min love. DC (huge spurs fans) were chosen to be mascots and these two in particular could not have been nicer. Given that they do it week in week out, and they are mentally preparing for a game when the mascot stuff happens, they went so far out of their way to ensure that the day was magical for the DC. Endless photos, signing, hair ruffling, keepy-uppies and chat. DD walked out with Son and he whispered to her not to be nervous because he had her back.. I mean.... seriously....
