How do you feel when you wake up

When I wake up I always feel sick, lightheaded and a bit nauseous. It always goes when I've been moving around for a bit but I'm beginning to wonder if it's an issue or if it's a common way to feel when you wake up.

I've got two young kids so I've always put it down to being tired

How do you feel when you wake up?

The dug up comment made me laugh too😁

I am a morning person but for years now I wake up feeling a sense of dread. Depressed, weary and achey. I watched a sales pitch for an air purifier on tv the other day and a light went on in my head. I’m wondering if it is the air I’m breathing whilst asleep. Toxins, dust, allergens etc. Im thinking of getting an air purifier now to see if it helps.

Tired , and promising myself I will go to bed earlier that night, then never do.

Me too.

I usually drop off on the sofa, wake up at 12/1/2, go to bed, surf, then fall asleep about an hour later. Terrible sleep routine but I just can't break the habit. Means I feel sludgy and irritable in the mornings

😂😂😂

I can't remember the last time, I opened my eyes and thought, wow, I slept well. ready for anything now.

Yes to both of those.

I cannot remember the last time I woke up feeling excited for the day, or even just not bloody shattered and wondering what the pint of going to bed even is?

Scotabroad24 · 28/08/2022 22:53

Half dead usually, body aches and a headache until I've downed at least 3 coffees.

Belatedeyebrows · 28/08/2022 23:08

@SilverLiningPlaybook

I have an air purifier and it really helps. Used to wake up with sore throat every morning but now now.
I've always been a morning person can't tell if it's helped improve my mood.

Op, I have woken up feeling sick and not hungry for the past 8 weeks. I've done a pregnancy test 4 times as I thought I could be pregnant but I'm not.
No idea why I feel sick and it does worry me. I've lost half a stone in thG time, too. Apart from that, I feel fine?!

Mossstitch · 28/08/2022 23:16

Never been a morning person, even as a child I remember waking up feeling nauseous. Can't eat breakfast or drink coffee for a couple of hours. Add to that I'm now over 60 and am so stiff I have to walk downstairs one step at a time, although that usually passes in a few minutes🤷 and yes to the hungover feeling even when not had a drink the night before. I put most of it down to poor sleep and have wondered if low blood pressure makes you feel rough as its always been low. Anyone comes up with a cure please tell the rest of us 👀

AdoraBell · 28/08/2022 23:22

Exhausted and stressed. Not sleeping due to stress, can’t do anything about 🤦‍♀️

GiselleRose · 28/08/2022 23:32

Tired.

mrsfollowill · 28/08/2022 23:39

Like I've been dug up!! Grin Grin that sums it up perfectly for me @RiderGirl - Hate mornings - never have enough sleep in the week. No young kids here these days so no interrupted nights other than by my menopausal bladder.
I have often mutter FFS when the alarm goes off at 6.30 am during the week. I'm generally OK once I've had a few cups of tea and a few fags - I also work from home so can get logged on and do my 'easy' bits of work while my joints unlock and my brain fog clears. I'm usually firing on all cylinders from 9.30 ish.
I'm bright as a button at midnight though- it's just me being an owl rather than a lark. At weekends if we have nothing on I sleep in until noon.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 28/08/2022 23:41

Like absolute shit - headache, stiff, congested, exhausted, sometimes nauseated - or groggy, miserable and a bit angry.

I never wake up feeling good, rested and happy. And even the days I seize (few and far between at the moment) start out with me hating the world.

What a life this is! What a joy I am! 😂

pumpkinpie01 · 28/08/2022 23:42

@LemongrassLollipop I don't fall asleep on the sofa very often but I just faff about when I'm in bed instead of sleeping . I have been camping all weekend not slept properly so I should be having an early night ! Do you have an early night every so often ?

StrandedStarfish · 28/08/2022 23:44

Knackered

😂😂😂

HilarityEnsues · 28/08/2022 23:47

Before 7 am, always awful.

After 8am, reasonably ok.

Between 7-8am depends on the quality of the sleep the night before.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 28/08/2022 23:48

I feel sorry for us all but I have to say, I’m finding comfort in there being so many of us in this boat! I was under the impression everyone else woke up motivated and rested, and skipped to the kettle with a big smile. 😂

Kerrrmieee · 28/08/2022 23:48

Do you think it's anxiety OP that you're experiencing on waking?

I could sleep for England, so I'm usually very disappointed that I've woken up! However there is always anxiety that kicks in straight away even though I know that nothing has happened between sleeping and waking.

I do get shot quite a lot in my dreams though 🤔

Like I've been dug up.

I actually laughed out loud because this was the exact thought I had when I read the title before opening the thread.

I am sore and stiff everywhere like I've been lying on concrete for days.

danadas · 28/08/2022 23:53

I always feel sick when I get up and can't eat for a good couple of hours but then could eat absolutely anything.

My lower back and hip wake me up now and I'm not even 40 yet 😭

formulatingAresponse · 28/08/2022 23:53

Do you drink in the evening?

PeloAddict · 28/08/2022 23:53

RiderGirl · 28/08/2022 22:22

Like I've been dug up.

That ^^

With a side of "fucks sake is it time to get up already?"

WtoB · 28/08/2022 23:54

Are you dehydrated OP?

Terfydactyl · 28/08/2022 23:57

I feel like death usually.
However I have fairly recently discovered
Weighted blanket
Wool filled duvet
Shaped pillow.
And although I stil feel like throwing up, I am at least most days rested.
I also altered shift pattern and can sleep as long as I like.
Still cant eat for a long time after getting up, can only drink water or I'll throw up but better than all the sticky feelings and tired and achy.
