How do you feel when you wake up

When I wake up I always feel sick, lightheaded and a bit nauseous. It always goes when I've been moving around for a bit but I'm beginning to wonder if it's an issue or if it's a common way to feel when you wake up.

I've got two young kids so I've always put it down to being tired

How do you feel when you wake up?

It appears I'm not alone,

I do suffer from anxiety but I don't usually feel it when I wake up.
Not sure on my blood pressure any time I've had it checked it's been fine but I haven't done it in the morning.
Probably am dehydrated, I suffer from UTI's quite a bit. Could also eat a lot better, I do eat lots of veg and fruit but I also eat quite a bit of sugar.

@SilverLiningPlaybook

I use a brand called levoit. I've had it 4 years and had to replace the filters once in that time. I wouldn't be without it.

I'm a teacher on school holidays and every day I have woken up before 7. Feeling super sick this morning, too. Just starting to think it is anxiety related...

Mol1628 · 29/08/2022 07:59

My bladder is usually about to burst despite a middle of the night wee usually as well

I feel sick and groggy and my eyes sting.

I find it impossible to lie in though I like to get up earlier and wake up slowly. If I have to get up and leave the house in a rush I feel sick for the rest of the day.

LemongrassLollipop · 29/08/2022 08:00

@pumpkinpie01 not really. I have tried but then I end up on my phone for ages. I've always been a late to bed person but now the kids wake me up early so sleep is shortened at both ends!!

Hope you catch up on your sleep soon 🤞🏽

Moomoo75 · 29/08/2022 08:00

Awful like a bulldozer has driven over me.

pumpkinpie01 · 29/08/2022 08:02

@LemongrassLollipop that's what I do too ! I'm supposed to be catching up now 😂

mountainsunsets · 29/08/2022 08:02

A bit groggy and normally in desperate need of a wee!

saraclara · 29/08/2022 08:04

Confused. Is as if my brain lags behind, and though my body's woken up, my mind hadn't fully. I don't know what day it is or remember anything anything about what my plans are, even when they're big (like I'm going on holiday that day). It takes a good few seconds of mental effort to get there.
This is relatively recent, and as I'm in my mid sixties, it worries me a lot..

Anyone who is waking feeling sick (especially the poster with the lack of appetite and weight loss).

I'm diabetic and those were my 3 main symptoms before I was diagnosed. I'm still sick on a morning sometimes and it's always when my blood sugars have gone too high overnight.

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 29/08/2022 08:06

I feel a bit groggy and stiff and achey. I can't usually stay lying in bed for long - I need to get up and stretch and go to the loo, and then I don't want to get back in. I often get up much earlier than I want to because I'm just uncomfortable in bed. Hoping to get a new mattress soon and see if that helps!

Qik · 29/08/2022 08:10

Amazing. Refreshed and ready to go. Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bounce. Like Tigger!!

But I’m the only one.

Get your thyroid checked.

Wonderwoman333 · 29/08/2022 08:15

I wake up hungry, aching, headache and congested. My eyes always run too. I struggle to walk down the stairs initially, everything is so stiff.

I hate waking up, it doesn't seem to matter what time I wake up either, always the same feeling. It does pass but I have to sit in bed for ages and have a cup of tea.

Ragwort · 29/08/2022 08:18

I am a morning person so although I don't usually sleep that well I am always happy to get up ... but I don't have young DC and I don't have a long commute to work ... I actually love quiet mornings on my own ... we have four guests staying at the moment but I've been up since 7am, drinking coffee and reading ... quite relaxing - DH, adult DS and guests all seem to be still in bed Grin.

Whendovescry03 · 29/08/2022 08:20

Thank god, I thought how I felt in the morning was unusual! I feel like I need another 10 hours sleep when I wake up and I'm very snappy at anyone who tries to talk to me. I've never understood how anyone can possibly wake up feeling good.

Greengreengrassofhome01 · 29/08/2022 08:23

I wake up early feeling not too bad. I make a cup of tea and within half an hour I have a headache which sometimes lingers for the day. I wondered if I should eat straight away to stave off the headache but I can’t face it.

eurochick · 29/08/2022 08:32

Bloody awful. Groggy like I haven't slept at all.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/08/2022 08:36

Completely normal.

sueelleker · 29/08/2022 08:40

Great. I'm recently retired, so I sleep until I wake up naturally. And recently had cataract surgery, so I don't have to fumble for my glasses when I get up.

biggreenhouse · 29/08/2022 08:41

used to wakeup with headaches, but then I got botox in my jaw muscles which has stopped me clenching and that's fixed that.

Drinking water as soon as awake helped me feel a lot better too.

BertieBotts · 29/08/2022 08:46

If you have low blood pressure they will tell you it's fine or "very good!" as they are concerned about too high, not too low. But borderline low blood pressure can make you feel crap.

I hate waking up even if I've had enough sleep. It's better if I can sleep until 8 or 9. Then I just feel groggy and slow for a bit. If I have to get up before 8 then it makes me feel crap for the entire day, I will usually need a nap later. It's npt related to amount slept - because if I've gone to bed late or been woken by DC in the night, I still feel crap but in a different way. If I let myself wake up when I like, I will get to about 11-12 and then start to feel ridiculous or need the toilet so I'll get up then, but still feel groggy and slow.

You can't tell people this because they will look at you like you're nuts and say 8?? Lazybones, everyone would like a lie in. But I really don't think my reaction to getting up earlier is normal. I don't go to bed late - I aim for about 11, and fall asleep easily.

I have ADHD which can cause issues with waking up and it's sometimes correlated with Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder, which I haven't been tested for but wonder if I have. As a teenager, if I wasn't woken I would sleep until the afternoon.

I only recently realised jaw clenching was the cause of most of my morning headaches too

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 29/08/2022 08:54

Mostly a headache and blocked nose. Sometimes I can tell I've been grinding my teeth. Often still tired. Very rarely feeling good lol although if I've been to the gym the night before I sleep better.

How much Botox did you have? I think I have that tmj as often clenching my jaw or grinding my teeth

IceStationZebra · 29/08/2022 08:59

Normal, unless I’ve woken up mid-sleep cycle and then just tired. Don’t relate to any of this.

I exercise a couple of times a week (not enough) and don’t usually get more than 6 hours of sleep as I have an early rising 2yo. I should probably feel a lot worse!

locke360 · 29/08/2022 09:05

Pretty awful until I have had coffee and moved around a bit!

I have been like this for years though, even when younger, so I think it's just me.
