Saturday evening in your home

I love reading these kind of threads, I find it very comforting so thought I'd start one and ask what is going on in your homes on this Saturday evening?

I've been studying all day for my master dissertation defence and final oral exam whilst DH took DS (2years old) out to the shops and took him on the trams and buses (he's a public transport kind of toddler). We then had a nice dinner of sweet chilli chicken boats. We've just put DS down to sleep and DH has gone to get popcorn from the cinema next door to munch over a movie night! It's chilly autumn weather here right now which I love so it'll be comfortable in the living room watching the movie.

We’ve just had tea, meatballs and nachos and now sitting watching a film together. However we’re watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid so I’m a bit bored now!

Ds, 19, had a couple of beers with neighbour’s ds, also 19, before tea which he says cured his hangover..
Dd, 16, chose the film even though she’s seen it before. She’s just relieved to have passed all her GCSEs and not be waiting for the results any more.

a lovely evening so far…

lifechanginglemoncake · 27/08/2022 20:16

I put the 3 year old to bed while DH cooked Mexican food. We've finished eating and now setting up the new (to us) PS4 so we can play a game DH got for his birthday. Wishing I could have a glass of wine or cheeky sugary snack but I'm 25 weeks pregnant with GD so a glass of water and some cheese it is!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 27/08/2022 20:18

Had a long boozy lunch with friends in town today, only got home a little while ago. Teen DD came down a for a brief chat then disappeared upstairs with the lush bath bomb I bought for her while out. Gonna put the tv on now and slouch on the sofa til bed time.

I'm in America, so it's not evening here yet. I work in a Middle School and we start back up next week. Due to construction at the school, today was the first day teachers could get into their rooms to prepare. I met up there this morning with the teacher I work with (I'm a para, or TA as you call them) to start getting the room ready. Now I'm home just relaxing and watching Little League World Series. DH is over at DS1's house babysitting our grandson. When he gets home later we will have Dinner and then watch TV. DS2 and DS3 are both at work right now. It's nice and quiet here with just me and my cat 😊

GrannieD · 27/08/2022 20:20

Just made a chicken chilli and rice.......perfect for our 2nd nite out camping !

maddiemookins16mum · 27/08/2022 20:20

We’ve had a busy day with housework/gardening etc and I made lamb koftas, flatbread and salad for dinner. DD (17) is away with the Brownies (annual camp) until Monday afternoon - they left Friday morning, she’s a young leader. DMIL is in hospital with pneumonia (I miss her, she lives with us and is 92). She is however much better and should be home within a few days.
We’re currently watching The Shit List on bbc and DH is cheating.

Lazing on the sofa with a beer, cat in my lap and fairy lights giving the room a lovely glow.

Cakecakecheese · 27/08/2022 20:22

In front of the telly having cuddles with my 4 week old baby.

maddy68 · 27/08/2022 20:26

I don't live in the UK. So may be a bit different. Just about to walk down into town for food with the dogs now it is cooling down , once we have eaten. A walk along the beach. So the dogs can have a dip. Go for a gin and then home, glass of wine on the terrace with some tunes.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 27/08/2022 20:28

Movie night. Watching Star Wars for the first time in my life. Da has autism and is loving it.

Bagpuss2022 · 27/08/2022 20:29

Love these threads too, DH did the food shop I took DD to dance then my mum met us and brought us lunch.
DH took DD to town to pick up her glasses whilst me and DS2 did some revision for his theory next week,
we had a takeaway for dinner DS2 went out for the night and to stop at his friends,
DS1 came home and picked up some things for his bed sit he got his keys for his last years uni accomodation yesterday.
DD has gone for a sleep over so me and DH are just going to open a bottle of wine and stick a film on and then get in the hot tub for a hour
not all Saturday’s are as happy as this had some very hard past few months with I’ll health for DS1 and my MH

TrufflesForBreakfast · 27/08/2022 20:40

I'm drinking red wine and watching Amadeus, which I haven't watched in years.

Dh is at the pub, dd1 is in Greece and Dd2 is walking the dogs with her friend. I'm loving the peace and quiet.

Sounds lovely!

Mad, frantic day - very different to the one planned. Very warm here this weekend and had decided to have 2 days doing nothing but lie by the pool and read books. Pool decided otherwise and sprung a leak yesterday- discovered at midnight last night. It's on the roof - queue mayhem. Have spent last 24 hours emptying buckets, mopping, scrubbing and ringing round for help. Pool now dry and sad. House damp. Wine had.

Eeksteek · 27/08/2022 20:44

My usual mild weekend frustration of not having five minutes to sit down, but not getting anything done either. Attempts have been made at housework (feeble) shopping (unsuccessful) sorting out school stuff (tardy), figuring out what the electricity bill is going to be next year (taxing and terrifying), gardening (so interrupted it wasn’t worth bothering with) and cooking (a lot), No worries, school starts next week here, and I will have time to get things done then. Huddled under a blanket as the dog still ill and needs to go out the moment I get settled, so it’s easier to leave the door open. Just fed everyone (Again. I swear that’s 18 meals today. Damn teens and underweight dogs!) and going to watch Stranger Things with my knitting and the last of the good gin and tonic. If DD ever bothers to take her plate out, she’ll come and pretend she isn’t watching it too, and generally be so annoying I can’t watch concentrate on it. Still, season two is a bit shit, so no loss there. And it’s a shared interest, which isn’t to be sniffed at.

MajorCarolDanvers · 27/08/2022 20:47

We've all had completely different dinners at different times.

DH and I are just back in from a walk.

DS on PlayStation

DD still out playing with her pals.

FreezyFreezy · 27/08/2022 20:50

We are currently debating whether to have burgers in sliced bread with some peas or defrost the mystery brown meal in the freezer for our tea; the dc had hotdogs with sliced bread and tomato ketchup with some carrots earlier on.

I'm sitting in the dining room watching crap on YouTube, dh is upstairs and the dc are watching reruns of You've Been Framed on TV.

JessesMum777888 · 27/08/2022 20:50

Me lying on my sons(12) bed while he tells me minute but minute what happened in the 90 minutes of football he played today … that I actually watched 🙄
waiting for match of the day to start so he can talk me threw all these games…
and I’m starving because I’m fasting.

Camomila · 27/08/2022 20:51

DH has been out all

notalwaysalondoner · 27/08/2022 20:52

We went to a local beer festival today with DHs crew from a hobby he does. I left in the afternoon so DS (13 months) could nap in the pram and DH could drink more…! Then I’ve come home to put DS to bed and DH will get a taxi home later. I’m mostly faffing about researching how to decorate a play area for DS and wondering how to fill the time until bedtime. I do miss the time before I had children where I used to do stuff in the evening instead of just eat dinner and watch tv and go to bed - we live rurally and only moved fairly recently so I don’t have a big network, so it’s not easy even though DH would be supportive if I wanted to go out (like he is tonight).

Camomila · 27/08/2022 20:56

Day doing overtime so it's just been me and the DC.

We've had the big wooden trainset out, had an easy dinner, baths with the sea creature toys, and are now cuddled up in front of spongebob.

I'm looking forward to the DC falling asleep so I can watch grown up TV on Netflix and eat Minstrels.

ChicagoBears · 27/08/2022 20:57

Homemade pizzas and a salad for us and a nice bottle of Merlot.

We’ve had a busy few weeks recently so a movie night is a must for us tonight.

TenoringBehind · 27/08/2022 20:58

We’ve had a full on day with aged relatives visiting. Spent all morning preparing food. Lunch and a long afternoon chatting with relatives. Now we are all chatted out.

I'm watching rubbish on Netflix (Selling OC)
dh is watching some dull sport in tv in another room
Ds1 is playing on his xbox
ds2 is playing some online game with friends
dogs are sleeping

troppibambini6 · 27/08/2022 21:04

I love these threads too.

I've be spent this afternoon sorting out two of the kids rooms and getting rid of clothes/ toys they've outgrown.

Had fajitas for tea.

Dd1 is at Leeds festival
Dd2 is upstairs chatting with mates on iPad
Ds1 is in bed reading
Ds2 is watching a tv programme about football academies
Dh is next to me on the iPad and I'm messing about on my phone.
Dog is has zoomies so have given him a filled bone to chill him out.

tobee · 27/08/2022 21:04

Had fish cakes for dinner. Putting off tidying up.

Dd upstairs in her room chilling.

Ds has gone out for work; he's a journalist.

Dh has gone out for a walk.

I'm sitting on a sofa having just eaten a Nuii ice cream, the 100 cricket is on. Thinking about if I need to buy anything for holiday starting next weekend. Hoping to finish my book later and maybe watch a film or catch up on tv. Looking forward to choosing my new book to read.
