One pan meals. A lamb thing.

It's cooked on a tray, in the oven. He's also used a pestle and mortar.
Then he twonked the lamb joint on the oven shelf so that all the fat dripped through, on to the tray below.

Then he splatted all that on to a wooden board, and used another pot for the juices.

Ladies and gentlemen more ladies, I present to you, The Man Who Doesn't Wash Up.

To drip all over the place

😂😂😂

Doesn't wash up, doesn't clean his own oven and doesn't have to buy joints of meat that fit in an air fryer because he can't afford to switch the oven on anymore.

I use my pestle and mortar daily though. It's a handy place to sling pens and hair clips.

Same here. My olive wood pestle and mortar is now unusable because a biro leaked in it and everything would come out blue. I could sand it down but that would a) require me to give a fuck and b) mean finding a new pot for my pens, orphaned screws, blutak and hair bands.

He's completely out of touch. In one of his 'budget' shows he went to this sprawling concrete jungle of a council estate and told the residents good food needn't be expensive, they could forage for wild thyme and sorrel Hmm

Whats for dinner? Thyme and Sorrel? Mmmm

'😂twonked' I love it!
I agree not one pan at all.

adriftabroad · 22/08/2022 22:37

Absolutely love JO.

Theluggage15 · 22/08/2022 22:38

I think his recipes are great. Made one tonight, just used chopping board and roasting tin.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 22/08/2022 22:39

Loving this as it reminds me of dh! He's a good cook but manages to use every pan/tray/bowl/sink in the entire house with one simple meal. It bloody irritates me as I have a mountain of washing up to do. Seriously he could use 4 pans to warm up a tin of beans 😂

user1471284740 · 22/08/2022 22:40

That has made me giggle. Hilarious 🤣

Did anyone else think that the C4 trailer voice over said "One pound meals"?

Totally!

Did anyone else think that the C4 trailer voice over said "One pound meals"?

Yes! I assumed a series to battle the cost of living, but no, just more fiddly recipes with ingredients I can't afford

SquirrelFan · 22/08/2022 22:43

@Theluggage15 which one?

BungledBundle · 22/08/2022 22:47

DebussytoaDiscoBeat · 22/08/2022 21:51

Not Jamie's 30 min meals but never fails to make me laugh Grin

That's brilliant, @DebussytoaDiscoBeat . "I just don't like that shelf. That's the wrong shelf for egg fried rice." Grin

I'm with him on the spring onions too.

Fizbosshoes · 22/08/2022 22:51

Boozysoozy1 · 22/08/2022 21:55

Not my words but I’m pretty sure this recipe belongs in the husband cookbook of “How to cook a one pot meal using only every pot and pan in the house”

I'm sure my husband has this book! and has selective vision about pans that need washing up

kateandme · 22/08/2022 22:52

And there is so much people can do on mainstream at the moment.but that won’t make money for cookbooks will it.
come on chefs.each week get folk to send in pictures of their cupboards.or what they have in to use.you no in thee cost of living crisis.
then the chefs could come up with real adaptable meals using these ingredients.how amazing would that kind of food show be for people.
still the taste but less of the waste
food prices fear, come cook with us here
spending less on food without the low mood.
all titles my primary came up with!!😜

chillipenguin · 22/08/2022 21:59

He's got a 5 ingredient book..do we think this is 5 ingredients plus a huge larder of "store cupboard essentials that only the really wealthy will have on standby"

No, they really are pretty much just 5 ingredients. But some of those ingredients are things like "a jar of curry sauce"..... 🤷‍♀️

I was coming on to post the exact same video. That fried rice is an abomination!

Leafy3 · 22/08/2022 22:56

😂

NoSquirrels · 22/08/2022 22:57

Ha ha! Saw the ad for this today and immediately said to my DC “One pan? It bloody won’t be only one pan - it might end up in one pan on the table but there’ll be several frying pans and a wok involved.” Grin

Didn’t watch but glad to be validated!

I do like Jamie, though.

When my husband cooks the kids pasta with sauce from a jar, he uses a second pan to heat up the sauce 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Those 30 minute meals took me about three hours, cost more than Christmas dinner at a Marriott and made my kitchen look like I'd just cooked for my entire village.

Do you know who I hate more though, Nigel someone I think. He had a stupid giant country home and vegetable garden that looked tended to bu a 24/7 Gardner.

He instructed us to get an 'old bit of cheese' from the fridge, I had my dried up, slightly mouldy block of red Lester. He appeared from his spotless fridge with a beautifully wrapped (with brown paper and twine) artisan block of cheese. I honestly wanted to drown him in his belfast sink.

secrethedgehog · 22/08/2022 22:58

He is not your man if you like to blindly follow a recipe.
His pizza dough recipe tells you to pile the flour onto the work surface and pour the yeasty oily water into a well in the middle.
Clearly I have never attempted this, I feel this is why bowls were invented.
I sent the recipe to ds however whilst on holiday ...
I have photographic evidence of the carnage that ensued. I believe it took several hours to clean the flour and water paste off the kitchen units and floor.Grin

Ironfloor269 · 22/08/2022 21:07

What is 'twonk'? Is it the similar to 'gnarly'?

Effectively means "Idiot" - but stupider.

This thread demonstrates why Delia is an absolute goddess in my eyes. I've still got a 1970s copy of 'Frugal Food'. You always know that Delia did the washing up, and would have tutted at people men who 'leave dishes to soak'.

oh tut she most certainly would.

and she'd never 'bung' anything or declare something to be 'pukka'

Appalonia · 22/08/2022 23:00

What's wrong with a fat tongue? No wonder he bagged a beautiful wife...!😂

FrasierCraneDay · 22/08/2022 23:05

Oh he's an absolute tosser! I remember when his 30 minute meals book was released, I bought it for my step mum. Well thankfully we get on great as her words after trying a couple of these recipes "frasier these recipes would take 30 minutes with a sous chef, a dishwasher, and pre prepared shite" Grin
