Daily Project - Round Two!

We've filled up the last thread, so here's the next one!
All welcome- in an attempt to get a thing done around the home (or elsewhere) each day.
Ideally the sort of thing that will stay done- at least for a bit!

Today I have washed my shower curtain, and my 'boiling the kettle job' was to empty and clean my kitchen bin :)

I agree @Solosunrise is so lovely to mention everyone and remember what’s going on with us all.

I ended up not doing anything other than lunch yesterday as didn’t get back till around 4.30.

Did empty some tins out of the cupboard while waiting for the kettle to boil. Sadly mostly out of date. Powdered mustard BBE 2017!

Hoping to achieve a bit more today.

As I’m in Ireland can I just let you know it’s National Potato Day here today. Enjoy! Grin

Solosunrise · 07/10/2022 09:53

Morning and thank you! I think with the coffee house feel of this thread, it's nice to include everyone. Helps move conversation forward and keeps us all feeling valued, I hope.
Note I'm not so good at it when a new page has been started! I always fear leaving people out too Blush I'm feeling the pressure of expectation now 😂

Weekend! We currently have glorious sunshine - obviously it won't last but I want to put some bulbs in this weekend so hopefully we'll get a few dry hours.
I'm just sitting quietly with a mug of tea before I leap into afternoon action. I need to go and pick up a click & collect order and order some paint.

Aria999 · 08/10/2022 19:59

Ooh @RunningKatie a mug of tea, good idea. Going to make one now.

I have just made cheese scones for a pot luck tonight and am waiting for the 2 year old to wake up.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 08/10/2022 20:05

evening. Checking in with my cup of tea here and a garibaldi biscuit. :) (Plus a bit of Jeff Goldblum In Independence Day - Resurgence to leer over).

Nothing achieved today. Well the Dcs got their covid jabs so that was something. :)

TightDiamondShoes · 09/10/2022 09:49

I am having a slow, slow start with many a coffee - so don’t worry @Solosunrise - this morning I am barista!

the pulley is up. A 6’ friend stood on a chair and assembled it in about 5 minutes, including the asshat dog getting himself caught up in the ropes!

I’ve got a smug soup on which I put in the slow-cooker in the fridge on Friday, so yes - I HAVE moved it from the fridge to the machine. I know, I know - selfless and hard-working to a fault.

i didn’t get around to making my list of jobs, so I’ll have a look at doing that today. School holidays which means 5000 loads of washing a week - HOW do they create so many dirty clothes? 🤷‍♀️

today I’m going to have a beach walk, do some washing, make a list and do some admin stuff.

RunningKatie · 09/10/2022 17:30

The image of a dog getting involved made me chuckle @TightDiamondShoes
The dc have been trying to have sleepovers this weekend with ddog, it's been like musical beds, ddog only goes where dh is, dh snores, dc wake up. There are tears, I sort it all out, and repeat. 2 weeks to half term, and a ddog free week. He's a muppet and we love him but I'm looking forward to him going on his holidays. Fingers crossed he behaves.
Yesterday I ordered paint, vests, wellies, hoodies. All set for click and collect on my day off.
Today I've been to football matches, and then been a grump on the sofa all afternoon. My poor family!

outoftimeagain · 09/10/2022 22:19

This weekend has been a bit of a write off unfortunately. I ended up working nightshift on Friday night then went straight to Parkrun. It was the absolute highlight of my week when I completed it, I'm so proud of myself. Anyway, I was a broken woman after that so hardly did anything yesterday. Today I got some bits in for my nephews birthday. I'm pleased that's done but it meant I didn't manage to tick anything off the list at all this weekend. Never mind, tomorrow is a new day and a new week, I've got my lists written and I'm going to smash it!

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 10/10/2022 06:44

weekend a total write off here too. Hopefully back to some sort of productivity this week!

outoftimeagain · 10/10/2022 07:00

Sometimes we just need a few days to reset don't we @OrangePumpkinLobelia at least that's how I'm trying to look at it anyway.

Up early this morning getting things done. I pulled everything off one of the shelves in my wardrobe this morning ready to get rid of things that don’t fit or don’t belong on that shelf. Turns out only one thing did belong there so now everything has been shoved on the other shelves. I will concentrate on my bedroom this week and do a little bit of the wardrobe each day. This morning I’ve also put an unopened bottle of perfume on Vinted. Feeling productive, hope it lasts!

Today’s jobs are to take clothes back to Sainsbury’s, check if they have a food bank donation trolley as I have a bag of toiletries in the car I keep meaning to donate. Also need to clean the fridge and write up birthday’s / events etc in my new diary. It’s an academic one and this has been on my list since July but today’s the day I’m finally going to do it!

Off to work now, hope everyone has a magnificent Monday

Peridot1 · 10/10/2022 08:50

Morning all.

glad you got your Sheila maid up @TightDiamondShoes. May she dry many clothes in her future!

I am still in Dublin. My sister and I did some clearing out of books and other random stuff from the living room cupboards on Friday. We are taking the books to the charity shop this morning. And some electrical stuff to a recycling centre. I also cleared out some drawers in a bedroom on Saturday. Washed some clothes so will take them to charity box today also. Some of them were my mother’s. It’s a bit odd seeing her things drying on radiators. Also have a lot of rubbish to go into the bin. Trying to avoid too much going to landfill but it’s impossible with some things.

A few more things to do today hopefully and then back home tomorrow.

RunningKatie · 10/10/2022 15:37

It's another sunny day here, the forecast tells me it's not going to last though!
Today I've picked up one paint order, and written a list of all the other places I need to go to collect things.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 10/10/2022 17:44

afternoon!

I have just finished clearing a carrier bag of crap. Why I needed several raffle ticket stubs that dated back from a fundraiser I did before the Dcs were even born is beyond me.

I also did a meal plan for the week.

I also wrote down various life admin things in my diary. Things like 'book covid jab'; 'book premier inn- parents, March 2023'; etc which I have been forgetting about.

Peridot1 · 11/10/2022 07:45

That sounds like quite satisfying jobs to have done @OrangePumpkinLobelia.

My sister came up yesterday and we did some more clearing out. Mostly Dad’s clothes. We’d been putting it off but it was ok. Took most of it to charity boxes and also about ten bags of books to the charity shop. I also almost filled the rubbish bin and the recycling bin. Receipts for shoes my Dad bought in 1997 anyone?

I had kept the tv/broadband/phone package going for when I’ve been here so gave notification of cancellation yesterday so that’s another job off the list.

Heading back home today.

RunningKatie · 11/10/2022 09:07

Have a good journey home @Peridot1 - sounds like you've done loads of clearing out.
I was supposed to have my flu jab today but it got cancelled, no pharmacist so that's frustrating. Now I need to go and fetch DH from the garage as his car has gone in for a service. There's a minor matter of me having very little petrol in my car but it'll be fine!!!

petalpower · 11/10/2022 13:35

I’ve had a few days of doing lots out of the house but not much ticked off on the small jobs in the house front. I’ve been out to my regular exercise class this morning and this afternoon am planning to make sloe gin, pick up my prescription and move my butternut squash into the greenhouse to store now they’re ripe. You’ve all been busy and I’ve still been enjoying what you’ve been achieving.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 11/10/2022 14:04

Have a good trip home @Peridot1

Cleared out another drawer today. Found a small screwdriver/toch that I bought for DH for Christmas a couple of years ago and which had not been opened so have given that to him!

I have also looked through some of my jewellery as I have a few items I do not wear and wish to try and sell.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 11/10/2022 14:04

*screwdriver/torch

petalpower · 12/10/2022 12:57

I was only thinking of you the other day @OrangePumpkinLobelia as I changed the plants in my hanging basket and pot by the back door remembering all the conversations about lobelia and geraniums earlier in the year!

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 12/10/2022 13:05

Smile that's really nice!

I need to repot my front door pot. It had pansies in it which of course have died. What did you plant in your pots?

Many of my geraniums are still going strong which I am really pleased about. And I am thinking of adding a couple more ferns to the dark dank corner of our garden as the current one is doing really well and more is more. Grin

petalpower · 12/10/2022 18:34

My trailing geraniums were past their best but the ones in the pots were still doing well. I felt a bit mean taking them out but have put cream violas in my hanging basket and purple and cream winter pansies in my pot. I think they are some narcissi bulbs further down in the pot which will come through in the spring too. What are you going for @OrangePumpkinLobelia ?

TightDiamondShoes · 12/10/2022 19:24

hello 👋.

I just need to leave this here:

ooh. winter pansies and cream violas sound very nice. I have nothing in particular in mind. Two of my pots had standard box balls in them but they finally succumbed to box blight despite hanging on for a good 2 years beyond the others in my garden that succumbed. I felt so sad pulling them out. I have tried hydrangeas as well. I wanted something quite structural and ornamental originally but now fancy something gushing and floofy and colourful. (And resistant to bugs and my incompetence).

Got to say @TightDiamondShoes that quote is like reading my mind! Grin

Solosunrise · 14/10/2022 08:05

Morning all! Well I fully expected to sit around scrolling (I like your quote there @TightDiamondShoes ) and ended up having a very busy week and barely having time to pick up my phone. It's what comes of being jam in the samdwich between ever more needy mum and unexpectedly needy (not in a bad way) offspring. And a garden that really needed 'ground forcing'!

@Peridot1 you've had your hands full! You inspire me to continue my attempts at minimalism as I don't want that for my kids. Recently in my work I've met people who really won't let the oddest things go (eg bags of shredded paper and old toothpaste tubes) Mum has a lot of stuff and she won't downsize from her big house because she won't have anywhere put it all.

@OrangePumpkinLobelia I too get sadness at pulling plants out! And also I'm very impressed at my geraniums and their continuing good health. I have nowhere to put them over the winter so they'll have to take their chances. Work is going on in the garden and a greenhouse for next year is looking more like a reality ☺

I went back to work for a rest 😂

Hope everyone is fit and well!

It's been lovely catching up with all your updates. Park run in one hell of an achievement @outoftimeagain!

Trying and failing to tag our lovely regulars here and I've got to go to a meeting now (bah humbug!)
But amused and inspired as always.

Today I am mostly going to, um..., clean out my fridge and menu plan. I think 🤔
