We've filled up the last thread, so here's the next one!
All welcome- in an attempt to get a thing done around the home (or elsewhere) each day.
Ideally the sort of thing that will stay done- at least for a bit!

Today I have washed my shower curtain, and my 'boiling the kettle job' was to empty and clean my kitchen bin :)

Could be a squirrel's tail 🤔 @Aria999 Be interested to see what the wildlife control make of it. Keep us posted!
Seems there's been Activity around these parts! Pleased the boys are better @WinterLobelia
Busy one here with work but I'm home now and I need to run round with hoover and I intend to wash my kitchen floor as well. Dinner can be thrown in the microwave today.
Also, email vets for cat medication.

Going out for a hot date airing with DH tonight. Just a pub dinner with friends. Looking forward to it ☺

WinterLobelia · 19/11/2022 20:57

Could that be a raccoon @Aria999 ? I have just googled 'raccoon butts' which is an unexpected but delightful way to spend a Saturday and it might be (although there is no tail visible). I hope so much you get it sorted soon. Thanks

Right. [rubs hands] cinema tickets and pizza hut all round. That sounds very lovely. I love the idea of a Daily Project team meetup one day. Smile

Aria999 · 19/11/2022 22:00

@WinterLobelia yes I suspect it is a raccoon, possibly a baby though it might be the wrong time of year for babies. I had a glimpse of a narrow black and white nose, I think.

And we do every year seem to get abandoned or sick baby raccoons in our yard in the spring.

We spent $3k on roof defenses against raccoons and squirrels in the spring. Luckily they give a 1 year guarantee ! I have asked them to come and take a look as whatever they did is clearly not working...

Aria999 · 19/11/2022 22:02

I have temporarily patched it up with gorilla tape. I don't want raccoons loose in DD2 bedroom!

FireworkFluster · 20/11/2022 06:19

I'm going to look up racoon butts now 😂 It crossed my mind, partly because I'm currently reading The Yearling which is set in Florida, but decided as I know nothing about them I'd keep quiet! But no you certainly don't want wildlife of any sort in baby's bedroom @Aria999. I hope you get it sorted very quickly!

Yes yes pick me 🙋‍♀️ for cinema and pizza @WinterLobelia! What are we going to see? I saw Mrs Harris Goes To Paris last week. Very Daily Project friendly I thought. Was lovely feelgood film.
What are you hoping to see today WL? With three, none of mine ever seemed to want to all do the same thing so there was usually one who wasn't happy. Thankfully not always the same one. Now, they hike and cook together would you believe, when they get the chance! I like being old and grey: you get to see the outcome. Walking when they were primary aged always involved at least one wailing about mud 🤦‍♀️

Have a lovely sunday everyone! Whatever you're doing 😘

FireworkFluster · 20/11/2022 06:46

@WinterLobelia there were also some unexpected and less delightful results from googling racoon butts 🤯

Peridot1 · 20/11/2022 09:19

Yikes @Aria999 - I think raccoon too. From my extensive knowledge. I.e. zero. Glad there was a guarantee with your roof defence company.

I really want to see Mrs Harris Goes to Paris too @FireworkFluster. Might see if my neighbour fancies going this week.

I got quite a bit done here yesterday. DH and DS moved the narrow table from the living room to the landing. Then DS went to Tesco and by the time he got back DH and I had rearranged the living room furniture. The living room is a bit of a nightmare regarding furniture placement and we are still figuring out what to do with it. Current experiment is that we have blocked off one of the doors with a sofa as we think that’s what we will do long term. We have also decided to get rid of the fireplace I think. It’s a huge red brick inglenook with an old bit of oak above it. Would be fabulous in the right house. Utterly ridiculous and way too big for this house. Which was built in 2018.

So Operation Landing is proceeding. Table is in place and I’ve moved all of my Burmese lacquerware there and will add in some more of my Asian stuff. And need a lamp.

I also did some ironing. In front of a cheesy Christmas movie. Was lovely. Might do the same again today to finish off the ironing pile. Which is now all table linens. No idea why I decided linen placemats and napkins were a good idea!

have a good Sunday all.

Grin ! I only saw cute little fuzzy things. Mind you I did not scroll down too far....

I have tried and failed to tempt the DCs with all sorts of films. i am also keen to see Mrs Harris. My parents saw it this week and said it was good.

I'd like to see the film about the finding of King Richard under the car park but that was never going to be a starter with the DCs. i tried tempting them with the film with The Rock and the new Black panther. Their eyes have been rolling. I think we are entering the Tweenie phase.

So we are heading out En Famille to a roast Sunday lunch at our favourite pub. I am pleased. And speaking of which, I have everyone else looking at me waiting to finish MNetting. So I will dash, and reply properly on the thread later.

Thanks to everyone.

Aria999 · 20/11/2022 12:12

@Peridot1 good luck with your room rearrangement.

One possible thought - if you are not using the fireplace and it is getting in your way... at our last place we had a very large tv and a non functioning fireplace and we put the tv on the floor right in front of the fireplace, on the tiles. It worked well. (The center of a tv is apparently best slightly below your line of sight.)

Peridot1 · 20/11/2022 13:22

DH actually suggested that yesterday @Aria999. I wasn’t sure but we may give it a try.

petalpower · 20/11/2022 19:16

Hope everyone has had a lovely day. Big roast late lunch for friends prepared by your truly which was delicious (although I say it myself!). Now wine, Strictly and I’m a Celeb. The kitchen chaos will be dealt with in the morning!

Peridot1 · 21/11/2022 08:56

Sounds lovely @petalpower. I do love a nice leisurely Sunday lunch.

I finished the ironing yesterday! I now have NO ironing. Nothing. Zilch! And I’ve gained a laundry basket.

Today I’m going to finish the landing area, sort some books and stuff out that can go from the study to the bookcase upstairs and free up space in the study for games and other bits that are currently sitting on the floor in the living room. Other task today is clearing and sorting the kitchen larder cupboard.

Aria999 · 21/11/2022 12:40

Woop @Peridot1 congratulations on your victory over the ironing! You are on a roll!

FireworkFluster · 21/11/2022 14:43

@Peridot1 do go if you can! I went with my mum and my daughters and all four of us loved it. The girls said they wouldn't have considered seeing it but as I asked them they humoured me, and were glad they did.
You truly are on a roll!

Ooh petal home cooked Sunday lunch sounds wonderful!

My job for today is to pamper my houseplants. It's all football in this house so I may take to another area of the house this evening and leave DH to shout at the telly in peace. Perhaps a bath and a book, or maybe a film on the laptop.

petalpower · 21/11/2022 16:22

Lunch was really nice and there were some bonus leftovers today - roast pork and apple sauce sandwich for lunch and veggies and gravy for the dog!
Today I’ve had a post office trip to send our nephew his advent calendar and buy all the stamps for Christmas cards. That was an expense and a half even for second class stamps. This afternoon I’ve had the England game in whilst wrapping Christmas presents as my dad and stepmother are visiting later in the week and will take presents back for extended family that we probably won’t see.
I’ll keep an eye out for the Mrs Harris film when it comes onto Netflix. I don’t really go to the cinema as I just fall asleep - dark, warm and comfy equals sleep!
Any news on the squirrel/raccoon @Aria999 ?
Impressed by the clear ironing basket @Peridot1 . How long will that last for? I was going to do some ironing this afternoon but can’t be bothered so will leave it for another day.

Aria999 · 21/11/2022 16:36

Not yet @petalpower I am hoping someone will call me today (still morning for us).

FireworkFluster · 22/11/2022 07:17

Your lunch sounds lovely @petalpower and I do love a good leftover! (I'm coming over all gransnet there) One of my lot had a partner who thought left overs were beneath them in their family. We think they're the best bit. Nowt as weird as folk!
Hoping for news this morning @Aria999 !

I have hung a door curtain over my front door! It feels warmer in the lounge already.

Hope everyone is ok today!

RunningKatie · 22/11/2022 14:57

Greetings lovelies, I've been missing in action for far too long I'm sorry.

I'm plugging my way through a huge list of things to do, got 3 days off without children before I start my new job. One day a week so I've time to make ridiculous lists in between! We have stairs carpet going down tomorrow, whoop!

FireworkFluster · 22/11/2022 16:35

Hello @RunningKatie it's lovely to 'see' you! All the very best with your new job Flowers

petalpower · 22/11/2022 16:53

Permission to have a big moan as I am officially fed up with today. This will be very outing so hope no one in RL recognises me.
Had early morning cardiac MRI which involved leaving home before 6.30am. Results not for another month and I’m a bit worried as last appointment wasn’t great.
Uncle very ill in hospital. Possible end of life.
My dad has Alzheimer’s which seems to be getting worse. It’s his brother who is ill which he is struggling to cope with. Also his much loved dog is ill - he’s not coping with that either. I’m rather selfishly worrying about the big pile of presents that they were taking back after visiting this weekend, think their trip may be unlikely now.
Visited care home auntie to try on yet more clothes. All a success but the buggers all had black labels which make them hard to name label. (Realise this is a first world problem!). Care home seem to be changing all Christmas entertainment/activity dates around. I’m keen to be there as last gear was Covid central and relatives not allowed in communal areas. Not sure how much I can be there for.
Both PIL generally more frail and going down hill.
And a huge first world problem - DH spotted a bargain black Friday new freezer to replace ours which is slowly dying. Arrives on Friday - hurrah! Old one being taken away - hurrah! But they won’t take it if it’s not defrosted and it’s currently 3/4 full. Have asked for favours from friends and neighbours for 24 hour freezer storage. Don’t think there’s enough.
No need to do anything other than give me a reassuring pat on the arm. Tomorrow I will put my big girl pants on and get a grip.

Aria999 · 22/11/2022 17:43

@petalpower sending hugs.

How cold is it outside right now? Could you put it in a big box outdoors?

petalpower · 22/11/2022 20:14

Ah thank you @Aria999 . Although it’s cold now it’s single figures overnight and not cold enough to keep food frozen. Also would worry about animals especially vermin (ooh I love that word!) eating food. We are very rural and have a grand selection of animal visitors although not raccoons! There’s no meat or fish in that freezer just bread and vegetables/fruit etc. I’m going to be brave tomorrow and have a proper look at how much space I really need to beg and borrow.

FireworkFluster · 22/11/2022 20:23

@petalpower what a lot for you to cope with! Very best wishes for your own health outcome, and so much sympathy for the situations with your loved ones 💕
Consider your arm patted and a great big hug too (if you like such things!) If i were up your way i would absolutely find space in my freezer for you. I'm sure your local friends will feel the same!

petalpower · 22/11/2022 20:49

Thank you @FireworkFluster , hug gratefully accepted. I will now stop being such a whingebag. The dog and I are watching the Bake Off Best Bits programme and I’ve stopped feeling so sorry for myself!

Peridot1 · 23/11/2022 13:29

@petalpower - I’m hoping ironing basket will stay empty till at least Christmas. Although we have a few things on which will mean DH needs to wear a shirt. Easy to keep on top of though.

I’m sorry you are dealing with so much. That is really hard. Moan away here. Dealing with elderly relatives and their issues is really not easy. Espeywhen you have health issues yourself.

good luck with the freezer issue.
