What year is your car?

Curiosity question. Mine is 2005 and I'm just starting to feel anxious that it's completely on its last legs - how old is seen as 'very old' now (from someone who knows literally f* all about cars?)

2016 but with only 30000 miles so I won’t be changing it anytime soon

AiryFairy1 · 19/08/2022 19:05

2007 - still going strong, our faithful Honda CR-V 🥳

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 19/08/2022 19:05

One is 2006 and yes, I've realised it is old. Doesn't feel it though.

icklekid · 19/08/2022 19:06

2014 seems great still and no intention of changing. My mileage is pretty low 👍

solarbirdscalm · 19/08/2022 19:06

I think its 3 years old now as I have to MOT it for the first time at the end of the month. It's a very cheap and unfashionable car though.

misslomi · 19/08/2022 19:06

2010 but pretty low mileage, very reliable and I LOVE it!

Offandonagain · 19/08/2022 19:06

Mine’s 61 plate. My DH’s 09. Were looking at replacing mine in a couple of Year’s time as it’s the family car. We’ll replace it with something around 3-4yrs old and buy it outright. We’ll run dh’s in to the ground.

We like to own our cars rather than loan/lease as we tend to trash them!

WaveyHair · 19/08/2022 19:07

Just replaced my 2014 VW - only because of corrosion on the body work. Could not get this fixed as every garage said it was too old.

Fuckitydoodah · 19/08/2022 19:07

2011 and touch wood is running well and looks up together. I make sure I service it annually and try to keep it looking clean.

2005 is on the older side but really depends on the mileage and how well its been looked after. Some that age will be clapped out bangers and some will be still going great.

HippeePrincess · 19/08/2022 19:08

My 2004 car died last September, my “new” car is 2008, dp is going to keep this and I’m looking at 2016/17 cars with low mileage.

mondaytosunday · 19/08/2022 19:09
  1. Got a great deal just before lockdown!
Notanotherwindow · 19/08/2022 19:10

2010 and still going strong with super low mileage

Favouritefruits · 19/08/2022 19:10

21 but it’s a Dacia so not a posh car

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 19/08/2022 19:11

2021, a few problems with it already

HardRockHallelujah · 19/08/2022 19:11

2002 and still going strong. Very reliable Honda!

Ilikewinter · 19/08/2022 19:11

2019, not long purchased it so will keep it for a good few years !

Runnerduck34 · 19/08/2022 19:12

2014
Realised its older than I thought. Had a run of issues a few months ago. Needed a new gearbox then 5 months later a new fuel injector. Hopefully that will be it for a while.
I usually only replace a car when old one gives up the ghost, not sure it's a sensible strategy but don't like being in a continuel circle of finance

crystalls · 19/08/2022 19:13

22 plate. Had an older car before that which was on its last legs and i wanted to experience having a brand new car at least once in my life.

yonce · 19/08/2022 19:14

2021 and 2022 😂 already looking for the next one, I have a short attention span clearly.

tedgran · 19/08/2022 19:17

2004, 85000 on the clock still reliable. It's allowed into the ULEZ area, which is where the tip is. Vauxhall estate, quite narrow ,so able to park in spaces next to all the fatter more up to date models !

PuttingDownRoots · 19/08/2022 19:18

One is a 2006, one is 2018.

The 06 only cost £400 last year but is doing its intended role.

bloodywhitecat · 19/08/2022 19:19

2020, bought it secondhand this time last year with just 1800 miles on the clock. I wasn't keen on it, DH chose it, he joked that he wanted to leave me with a decent car should he die (we knew he had cancer at the time) so me and the fosterlings would be able to get out and about with ease. Little did we know he wouldn't get to enjoy it for very long.

OzonoffS · 19/08/2022 19:19

2016 and 20k miles. The only reason I would change it would be if they made the ULEZ so tight I had to pay to get to work.

Jmaho · 19/08/2022 19:20

Ours are 2009 and 2010. We have by far the oldest cars of any of our neighbours or friends. They're both owned outright, in good condition, regularly serviced and both fly through their Mot. Had them both for 4 years and spent barely a thing on them aside from tyres
