The brief was "chocolate heaven"... would you be happy with this? And how much would you pay for it?

I would say it's about £90

I made a 2 tier standard fondant cake for my friend and she paid me £40

Hankunamatata · 19/08/2022 19:10

Surely ingredients alone £30 esp if using butter

Debbacat6 · 19/08/2022 18:22

Work out what it cost you to make and then charge that .You have then given your time for free.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 19/08/2022 19:15

I would expect to pay £50 for that if freshly made, Im not in London!

Amandasummers · 19/08/2022 19:15

You need to work out how much it cost you to make for starters....its easy to say ask how much people would pay but every bit of it has cost you money so that's the starting point...

IWishIWasABaller · 19/08/2022 19:16

Looks great very on trend at the moment , it would cost about 55-65 euro in my area

Gingernan · 19/08/2022 19:22

Wow its actually a super cake! I would say charge for your ingredients, and something for electricity or gas, then approximately how long it took you to make times an hourly rate,at least minimum. It might come out at quite a lot,but they did ask!

OldFan · 19/08/2022 19:26

I like it and I know from on here that people pay a lot for novelty cakes. So I'd say £100.

NorthernPud · 19/08/2022 19:31

Posting before I look answers! I'd be happy for that brief and expect to be charged £40-50

PugInTheHouse · 19/08/2022 19:32

@Greensleeves it looks and sounds amazing. I would totally love this cake. I think covering ingredients is fair if you don't want to charge but if I was your friend I'd definitely give you extra

Solonge · 19/08/2022 19:34

I think it’s very good for an interpretation of chocolate heaven. I think if it’s an order you are not happy with its down to the person asking for the cake to give as much direction as possible. I would be very happy if it were for me….price? I would pay £65 - £70.

wonderingwanderer2 · 19/08/2022 19:36

This would definitely be at £100 at least where I live. It looks brilliant!

Londonderry34 · 19/08/2022 19:37

Looks like chocolate heaven to me.

wonderingwanderer2 · 19/08/2022 19:38

To add to my post - my friend got her boyfriend a cake from a bakery for his bday. It was chocolate and nicely decorated but very small and nowhere near as extravagant as yours and she paid £60

Jamaisy82 · 19/08/2022 19:38

I think it looks good and looks like chocolate heaven. I'd expect to pay around £40 for somebody to make it.

Twillow · 19/08/2022 19:39

Looks amazing. If you'd ordered one to be made it would cost £60-£80

GingerWit · 19/08/2022 19:43

Those look like branded chocolates, ingredients to make cake can are expensive (I know!)
. Then there's the time taken to buy ingredients, time taken to make, cost of gas&electricity to bake, buying the correct utensils to make it with etc. Most people who aren't bakers won't realise the total cost of making a cake.

I would charge £80 - £90, for this cake.

Mandyjack · 19/08/2022 19:43

Greensleeves · 18/08/2022 17:17

That's the issue, I didn't want to charge anything, but the person I made it for is insisting...I think I'll say £20, that'll cover the ingredients.

If you don't know what to charge tell them you'll take whatever they think it's worth

Beepbeepenergy · 19/08/2022 19:44

I would charge £20

Did that make you feel good ?

Ihatemyroad · 19/08/2022 19:52

I like it, it’s a chocolate overload cake and I think a chocolate lover would be very happy with that cake. I’m in South East and use a cake make for my celebration cakes. I would expect to pay £70.

Jakupi · 19/08/2022 19:55

I think it looks amazing.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 19/08/2022 19:56

I haven’t read all of the replies, but it looks amazing xx If it’s a cup cake I’d pay £15 larger up to £120

Johnnysgirl · 19/08/2022 19:59

linsey2581 · 19/08/2022 18:21

I would say about £50.
I had this cake made for my daughter and it cost me £140 it was for her 18th so was worth it!

Is it supposed to look like that?
