This photo says it all, doesn't it?

Given how dangerous it would have been for the nanny(?) to carry Wilfred down the steps of the plane like that I am hopeful that she’s only just picked him up.

Surely one of his parents would have done something if not…

I thought the same. Am hoping he walked down the steps by himself, and the photo has captured the nanny trying to pick him up awkwardly because she is carrying so much else.

Blueberrycreampie · 17/08/2022 09:21

Absolutely ridiculous, nanny is wearing flip flops and carrying two bags with one hand and a child in the other. That is an accident waiting to happen. Bojo should've carried his child.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 17/08/2022 09:18

Oh I see now, I thought the nanny was carrying Boris!

😂😂loving some of these responses!

hewouldwouldnthe · 17/08/2022 09:24

I suspect the child started playing up at the bottom of the stairs and she tried to pick him up. No could she have carried him down the stairs. But I agree boris should have offered to take her bags. But then she's just the paid help

knittingaddict · 17/08/2022 09:26

I knew what you meant op. At a minimum it's thoughtless behaviour.

PurpleDaisies · 17/08/2022 08:39

It’s a metaphor for life at the moment. The nanny struggling with the child and all the heavy baggage just about staying upright represents most of us, while the well off just cruise along with no understand of what it’s like.

Boris has no media savvy. It would have taken a minute’s thought to think how that picture would play in the papers.

He's never had to care though. It's worked for him his entire life. Even in his earlier jobs he was lazy but somehow he got through by being entertaining and having connections. Why would he change now? He's gone through tons of events where he was proven to be a liar, unsavoury etc, but still managed to get the next, better job and a new, younger woman.

Until we stop valuing people being funny above competent, reliable, trustworthy, hardworking, talented and creative, we're going to be stuck with people like Johnson.

@JocelynBurnell That's rather perceptive you've picked up on this. I'm enjoying reading others' comments and observations too.

He IS entitled to go on holiday but two holidays back to back in his last few weeks as PM is not ok. He’s still being paid to be PM. Can he not just wait?!
You see this so often as well, woman struggling with a buggy/ wriggling toddler and man strolling along beside her with not a care in the world.

I don't disagree & definitely not convinced how much he works even when he's not on holiday, but this argument he should wait for Sept is nonsense imo.
He will be normal MP then with constituents to represent. Recess is like school holidays so imagine the outcry if he had a term-time holiday.....

MatildaJayne · 17/08/2022 09:41

It’s such a telling photo. The servant carrying 3 bags (a rucksack over her left shoulder as well as the other two bags in her right hand) as well as carrying/looking after the boy while BJ has his child’s colouring books. It’s like going back in time to when the privileged misused their maids.

SoftSheen · 17/08/2022 09:45

I'm no fan of Boris. However this looks to me as if the Wilfred started off walking and then the nanny picked him up (for whatever reason) as they were going down the stairs. Boris is behind both her and Carrie and couldn't have immediately taken her bags. This really is a non-story...

hmm yes, maybe that’s it.

Maybe Boris had Wilf and couldn’t control his own child on the stairs so let him run off to the nanny to deal with him.

I don’t think there’s any particular spin on this photo that leaves him looking anything but ‘less’.

PowerPack · 17/08/2022 09:51

Surely the nanny has only picked child up to get him over the last step, she can't have carried him all the way down like that?

But yes, I don't think I know many men who would have let a woman take all those bags (even if she was employed by him) while he had hands free.

Arnaquer · 17/08/2022 09:53

Puppylucky · 17/08/2022 08:35

It's not the holiday as such it's him swanning down the steps with a kid's rucksack whilst the two women stagger off loaded with bags and babies

This. Shows the mark of the man and how he sees women as there to serve him.
Sexist pig.

BronzeSage · 17/08/2022 09:58

I'm disgusted we are paying his wages for another 3 months , just to sit on his arse.

JCWildWest · 17/08/2022 10:08

Tbf I wouldn't trust him to carry more than a kids rucksack anyway!

Fair - but this man is in charge of the country! Expectations should be just a tad higher surely?!?

Changechangychange · 17/08/2022 08:36

Suspect that bag contains Boris’s colouring book and Hotwheels cars.

😂

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/08/2022 10:13

I can’t stand the man, but this is just a moment in time OP, it looks to me that the toddler has just wriggled out of the nanny’s arms so it looks awkward.

Chickenkatsu · 17/08/2022 10:16

I wonder if he's shagging the nanny.

You'd think but nope! And I'd rather he was called out on his failings in running the country than how much he helps parent his multiple offspring. Absolute farce of a human!

…especially because she’s carting around more bags than BJ and Carrie put together and wrangling a toddler. Yet there’s a fully grown man at the back with two free hands if he hangs the child size bag on his arm.

Hoppinggreen · 17/08/2022 10:19

He treats his nanny the same as all his staff - a resource rather than a human being

Showed my DH at his photo for his view luckily he passed the test

balalake · 17/08/2022 10:26

I wish that asking a woman to carry a child or anything else whilst carrying little himself was the worst thing he had done.

Think of all the women denied access to visit a child or husband at the end of life, whilst he and his team in Downing Street were partying. I am sure there is far worse even than that.
