I’ve read Dave Goulsons book Jungle Gardening (or how to save the planet) a couple of times. It’s changed my way of gardening.

So I would bang on about how greenfly are just as important to the environment as the birds and bees. That grass is a desert for wildlife and you should leave the weeds.

It would be a bit disjointed if I’d had no prep. But a captive audience - oh my lord! My husband normally changes the subject when I start on this with any guests in our house.

I am waiting to hear back from my local one after applying to volunteer a couple of weeks ago and really hope they will allow me to share my knowledge and get really stuck in.

I let some of my lawn grass grow long / wild is that better for the environment? I've started cultivating a wild meadow in one corner. Is it short mowed grass that adds no environmental value at all?
