I don’t like alcohol. So all this gin time and wine time flies over my head.

I don’t like pyjamas which is annoying because there are really cute ones out there. I prefer nighties.

I don’t like high end food. Oysters and stuff like that..bleh

Oh also DIY and garden shops. Do most adults like these? I find them incredibly boring just as I did as a child.

BogRollBOGOF · 14/08/2022 06:54

Another tea and coffee. It's the lack of choice and looks of utter bewilderment on people's faces that's wearing.

Diet anything. Sweetners hate me, and I hate them. People can't grasp that they contaminate 90% of soft drinks (and some alcohol) and they make me feel crap for hours. I'm not on a diet anyway (even if they did work) and a choice of Coca Cola or water gets tedious (lactose intolerance also unhelpful too)

Sunbathing.
Currently on holiday and it seems to be the done thing that any mum of a child older than 5 wants to flop on a sunbed by the pool. I've been enjoying playing with the kids. I'm slightly wobbly about DS(9)'s swimming ability; he can do 25m but his style is a bit haphazard for playing on the cusp of his depth. DS(11) I'm happy with. But it was more pleasurable to play with them than flop and bake on a sun bed. I like reading, but it wasn't a place where I'd concentrate well.

I agree with dressing up. I love socialising and going out but very much prefer casual dress, I hate having to wear shoes instead of sandals or boots, can't wear heels, don't like any sort of formal dress. I don't mind so much for weddings though and love going to them.

MischiefTheChicken · 14/08/2022 07:47

@SquirrelFan oh absolutely Paris! I’ve tried so hard to like it but I just can’t! I like other European cities but Paris … 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also coffee and beer. They always seem to be the norm for people to have in and offer guests, and I don’t like either.

@A580Hojas I hope you decline the invitations? My PIL had us invite a lot of their friends to our wedding. Because of limited capacity at the venue it had to be at the expense of some of our own friends which was bad enough, if it turned out PILs friends thought it was a pita then what a shame for everyone.

Yes to redecorating/new sofas (esp leather ones - wtf is comfortable or homely about those?)/everything matching/'themes'.

Having a 'career'/getting 'ahead' in said career. Have never wanted to have management responsibility of any kind. I'm more of a specialist/niche skill person and work for myself now - however well I do, I will never, ever have an employee. Can't be doing with it. I'll always keep things at a level I can manage solo.

I don't get the hype about diamonds. I have some tiny ones in pieces of jewellery where a coloured stone is the main attraction, but if I want a sparkly clear stone it's cubic zirconia for me. Moissanite is also quite nice, but cubic zirconia has more rainbows.

Fun fact, cubic zirconia is a natural stone, although what's used in jewellery is man made. In nature it's very rare, and it's the same with moissanite. I was floored when I found out cubic zirconia is based on a natural stone!

Coffee. I live in a country known for excellent coffee and I just can’t really get around it. It tastes a bit bitter, caffeine doesn’t really sit well with me. Milk doesn’t always sit well with me. So I never really got into coffee drinking.

AchillesLastStand · 14/08/2022 11:49

Where to begin:

Tea/coffee
Alcohol
Parties/socialising
Olives or any fancy kind of food
Cars/driving (I don’t drive)
Fancy expensive shoes, especially of the high heeled variety
Expensive skincare products (they bring me out in a rash)
Makeup (waste of time and money)
Soaps
Game of bloody Thrones
Smartphones (love my iPad though)
Twitter

I have more in common with my 8 year old than adults.

AchillesLastStand · 14/08/2022 11:51

Oh and sport and any hot weather related activity like sunbathing.

Full bodied red wine. Yuck. Like licking an oak barrel.

Or sucking a tea-bag! I don't like oaked white wines either.

Violinist64 · 14/08/2022 17:12

I'm not keen on dark chocolate - l much prefer milk.

Naimee87 · 14/08/2022 17:16

Dinner parties… loooong drawn out meals with tons of courses and hosting other people for longer than a few hours unless its kids their fine to stay and play with DS

superplumb · 14/08/2022 19:29

Gin wine esp the expensive stuff. Quite like blossom hill lol
Hate ironing, new build houses grey interiors general house proud-ness, being a mum, getting hair done
Healthy food I'd love to live off pizza and crap food. Driving, cant be arsed and would rather be driven everywhere. Shopping

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/08/2022 21:58

High end chocolate. Give me a KitKat or a Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut any day.

FayeGovan · 14/08/2022 22:18

Posh food from posh arsey restaurants we're all supposed to admire. I'd rather have a cheese toasty.
