I don’t like alcohol. So all this gin time and wine time flies over my head.

I don’t like pyjamas which is annoying because there are really cute ones out there. I prefer nighties.

I don’t like high end food. Oysters and stuff like that..bleh

The theatre. It actually gives me second-hand embarrassment.

For some reason musicals don't make me cringe in the same way (although I still don't like them).

VioletInsolence · 13/08/2022 22:04

Coffee. I like the flavour in a cake or in coffee creams if they’re very mild.

ofwarren · 13/08/2022 22:05

The PTFA and all school events like sports day and the nativity.

Boulez, stockhausen and all other squeaky Gate composers. Yes, I'm sure it's all very clever but it is also unlistenable bollocks so off you fuck.

This. Somehow atonal composition got the upper hand and for a long time no composer could write anything else if they wanted to be taken seriously.
I wonder how many people actually like it, as opposed to pretending they like it.
No wonder people want to go to Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.

The rise of the squeaky Gate school has weird parallels to the current state of gender woo. A few well placed academics calling the shots and ghosting anyone who doesn't drink the kool aid. None of this had anything to do with what people actually liked or what was popular. Funny, that.

Kisses, hugs and hand shakes
Just don't touch me at all thanks

ThomasinaGallico · 13/08/2022 22:12

Oh, and finance and law. How anybody spends their lives working in either is beyond me. I’m supposed to have an interest in investments and shares, but other than the necessity of knowing what goes where each month, I really can’t be bothered.

To the PP who posted about Boulez and the like, I will add that Harrison Birtwistle was always known as ‘Fartwhistle’ in our house.

Rollercoasters! I just hate them. Infact anything theme park just doesn't do it for me. I usually hang out by the ice cream shops 🤣 weirdly tho I love the atmosphere so I'm always happy to go

Hmm. I actually think this is normal for most adults over say 30?? I loved theme parks as a teenager and student, went to one in my late 20s and really didn’t enjoy the rides! My husband felt the same.

tortoiseshellsub · 13/08/2022 22:15

Also not great with phone calls. Weird I know but it gives me anxiety 😦

Agree with you on this. Hate them

ofwarren · 13/08/2022 22:16

Gardening

Yup.
At what age am I meant to enjoy this - actually do it instead of going out?!

It's getting to the point I'm going to have to drop the postman an apology note.

ofwarren · 13/08/2022 22:18

Dancing

RenegadeMatron · 13/08/2022 22:20

Pyjamas?

Rollercoasters…?

What’s ‘adult’ about these?

Snowleopard98 · 13/08/2022 22:22

People

Incacat2 · 13/08/2022 22:22

All alcohol
Coffee
Having anyone other than the 6 of us in our house
Visiting others - Mainly because of the pressure to drink (especially from extended family)
Spas.

tortoiseshellsub · 13/08/2022 22:23

The responsibility of life lol

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/08/2022 22:23

Alcohol , by choice I don't drink
I'm vegetarian ( by choice over 42 years now ) so oysters, steak, McD mean nought to me
Handbags all those designer names , I might recognise but no desire to own (I don;t wear leather anyway)
I don't have my nails done though I might like a Spa Day (if I could find ethical one)
TV like HandMaids Tale or Killing Eve , I don;t want to commit time

TempyBrennan · 13/08/2022 22:23

Hot drinks, tea/coffee etc

Like as an adult you offer or are offered by people ‘would you like a cuppa?’ But really I’d just like a juice or a Pepsi or something 😂
I get looked at like I have three heads when I mention it.

ABlindAssassin · 13/08/2022 22:25

Reed diffusers
Scented candles

I love bird feeders though! And sex and wine!

PuppyMonkey · 13/08/2022 22:25

Gravy.

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 22:25

Wine
Coffee
Olives
Smelly cheese

ofwarren · 13/08/2022 22:26

Fancy underwear
Much prefer my huge M&S knickers and my crop tops.

Shortskirtlongjacket · 13/08/2022 22:27

I love this thread!

Going out at night, I’m knackered and want to be asleep asap.
Dressing up for any occasion; work, functions, day out in the park, shopping…I’ll be wearing my comfy casual clothes to everything thanks!
Ironing is a big fat nope.
Making friends with Mum groups at my kids school, sends shivers down my spine.

Peachyroll · 13/08/2022 22:31

Alcohol.
Sex.
Weddings.
Designer handbags.

Babies (I like them, just no desire to have my own).

ThomasinaGallico · 13/08/2022 22:31

A lot of ‘grown-up’ literature is rubbish too. Children have a very active BS filter and know worthy/pretentious nonsense when they see it. They are much harder to please.
