What do you buy too much of?

Just lighthearted as I can't sleep

I'll start - I buy way too many books.
I love to read but on my last count I have 518 on my bookshelf. I've cut back on spending now and am getting them from bookswaps instead

So what's your thing?

Books. I read A LOT but buy books quicker than I read, so my to-be-read pile is ever so slowly increasing.

Shower gel/bubble bath. I LOVE it. But, again, buy more than I have time to use!

HastaLaBisto · 29/07/2022 12:45

another - curly hair products. The trouble with curly hair products is that there are actually many types of curly hair and the ends of the spectrum have very different requirements: what's perfect for dry, thick coily hair makes my fine, ringlety hair look like it hasn't been washed for a week. But most of the time, you can't tell until you've tried it.

[stares resentfully at cupboard full of virtually unused bottles]

HannahSternDefoe · 29/07/2022 12:54

Fairy, Bold, Andrex...
PJs - I think I've nearly 20 sets Blush
Milk too probably - but DH uses it more than me.

@Mrsfussypants1 what's a shacket?..and do I need one (or 5)? Wink

HannahSternDefoe · 29/07/2022 13:00

Oh, and cross stitch kits and magazines. 🤦‍♀️
I need to live at least another 50 yrs (and no way will I be able to hold a needle at 100) to finish the ones I have lined up/patterns for.
🤫 Don't tell DH.

Mrsfussypants1 · 29/07/2022 13:10

@HannahSternDefoe it's a shirt/jacket I've got soft loungewear ones from Next to wear indoors. You defo don't need one unless your going for a lumberjack look like me!

NorthernSoul55 · 29/07/2022 13:20

Way too many clothes. In my defence my weight has varied by over 3 stone I recent years so I've 4 different sizes!
And tinned chickpeas. I've no idea why.

LunaTheCat · 29/07/2022 13:26

NanaNelly. I have embraced the cardi’s and accepted that some will always think they are aging ( I am aging now at 57!)
I think it’s what you wear them with - I wear dresses birkies in summer/ Blundstone boots in winter with socks ( can’t bear tights)
if everything else looks up to date you can carry them off.
Last season I treated myself to an Eribe cardi in bright mustard/yellow. I also hunt Brora ( but only in the sale!)

mallowchick · 29/07/2022 13:54

I'll admit that I am far too addicted to buying stuff I don't need on vinted in particular branded fitness clothing 😆

FourChimneys · 29/07/2022 14:14

Plants
Piano and cello music
Books
Socks

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 29/07/2022 14:20

Lego

KilljoysDutch · 29/07/2022 14:20

Food - When DH and I were first together we had days and days of having nothing to eat and it left some nasty scars so now all the cupboards fridge and both freezers need to be full all the time.
Stationery - It was a cheap way to treat myself to something nice and get that little thrill but I'm working really hard on changing my consumer habits and using up what I own instead and have drastically cut back on buying things.

CounsellorTroi · 29/07/2022 14:24

Books for me too. Mostly from secondhand/charity shops.

Maggiesgirl · 29/07/2022 11:13

Roses. My garden is full of them and then I go to the garden centre snd come home with another.

Me too I only have a small garden so planned to only buy ones that could remain in pots but they are growing so big Iam getting worried now!

TeaAddict235 · 29/07/2022 15:32

I get you with the hair products. I am a product junkie. I buy hair products like they are going out of fashion. My hair (bless it) is so resilient and seems to be thriving like wildfire with bog standard products like Pantene etc. So long Paks!

Also:

Too many leather sandals
Too many but beautiful leather handbags (which do not mix with kids and babies of which I have 3)
Too many jeans & corduroy trousers

ChagSameachDoreen · 29/07/2022 15:38

Courgettes. I always think "oh they'll be useful in a meal" but never use them.

Oh and books, notepads and fountain pens.

MaryJoLisa · 29/07/2022 15:39

Books, particularly cookbooks, which I read and never cook from.
Condiments. I bloody love a condiment.

FreezyFreezy · 29/07/2022 15:41

CorneliaStreet · 29/07/2022 16:03

Perfume
Body lotion and hand cream
Cookbooks

Claricethecat45 · 29/07/2022 16:19

Lipstick. Each new one bought is the 'one' I think will change my life.
Of course it doesn't but I cant stop...often buy the same one - twice

briancormorant · 29/07/2022 16:40

Booze, our palettes have improved and we taste more in a wine than we used to.
Started working out the cost last night after trip to Majestic.

germsandcoffee · 29/07/2022 16:42

Clothes.
I think I actually have a bit of a problem, but I do donate lots of my old ones to charity.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/07/2022 16:42

Kids clothes, not particularly expensive ones but constantly want them in suitable clothes which seems to mean I buy them things every month
