I need the power of MN (to prove that I'm right...). If someone says they are "making a roast on Sunday" what meat(s) could possibly be being served?

I agree sausages on their own don't count as a roast, but Toad in the Hole is definitely roast territory for me.

No, toad in the hole is not roast territory..

Chicken generally. But could be any type of meat with typical trimmings.

Well, I was even more wrong than any of you guessed... 😳

I was teasing DH (who cooked tonight) that he should have made me a roast because it's Sunday. He said that he had offered (offered to get a whole chicken for tonight while we were shopping earlier but I wasn't inthemood for that). I said that "a roast" ONLY meant beef.

Growing up, 'a roast' would only have been beef,

any other meat woukd have been what it was 'leg of lamb' 'pork & crackling' or a roast chicken (but that was roast chicken, not A roast.

Im getting used to people meaning any piece of meat & weird sides such as cauliflower cheese.🤪(they're clearly wrong though!!)

im veggie & often have roast vegetables, but I'd never say A roast!
