Would you go to A&E for this? Bit worried.

To cut a long story short I've been suffering with intense head pressure for nearly two weeks. I wouldn't call it a headache exactly, more like a really bad feeling of pressure, it's been pretty much constant the entire time but not painful enough to stop me from sleeping. I am also getting weird sensations down my left side, tingling and the skin feels weirdly numb. This afternoon one of my eyes has turned a bit bloodshot for no apparent reason.
I've been holding off seeing the GP as I am in the process of switching but the pressure is getting really quite bad now so I don't really know what to do. I really don't want to go to A&E on a Friday to just be bumped around until Monday or to waste anyone's time in case it's something trivial, but the eye thing has freaked me out a bit.

@Beebatron you are not being a wimp.

I hope the CT helps to find out what's going on.

The vipers are here to support you when you need us, whatever the time of day or night. 😊

People really need to up their game on what symptoms are red flags.

Left arm pain with sensation changes, a bloodshot eye and head pressure? Hell yes to A&E.

OP I hope you are ok and it's nothing serious. The NHS is brilliant at sorting out truly urgent stuff. Even now when there are so many pressures on resources.

totally agree. Only just read the thread but it sounded like A&E straight away to me with the tingling and bloodshot eye.
OP I hope the results come back fast and you can get to the bottom of what’s wrong quickly

I’ve just seen a video of an A&E department who were announcing to the waiting room that unless you are in excruciating pain, have chest pains or palpitations you need to go home because they are only dealing with critical care as they are under so much pressure.

Our local A& E has just announced a waiting time of 14+ hours and said to avoid unless absolutely urgent!

OP I hope you are in an area that isn’t under so much pressure.

For people wondering the tingling can also be a sign of severe calcium deficiency. Sounds harmless but it turns out there's a really low tolerance between normal and heart attack for calcium (I had it, my "oh you want me to take more tablets?" was quickly answered by "no, get in here, calcium drip time".) Thankfully while its serious and very much A&E material, its also an easy fix.

Brenna24 · 22/07/2022 20:18

I am also sitting in with you. I hope that it is nothing to worry about in the end.

I am very glad you are having a scan and they are checking you out. I had a horrible scare, it is horrible waiting. I really hope you get a good outcome.

Never really understand why with symptoms such as OP is describing, people are dicking around with oh it’s not A&E, it’s maybe an opticians or GP appointment when it’s so clearly A&E

Because everyone on here goes to great lengths to demonstrate how they never bother anyone with anything and you're a criminal if you even consider using a service that you pay for

PamelaD00ve · 22/07/2022 20:45

Hope you get some answers soon

Senderandme · 22/07/2022 20:49

rooting for you, hope it’s an easily treatable issue x

MolkosTeenageAngst · 22/07/2022 20:55

Glad they’re taking it seriously and investigating. Fingers crossed the CT scan is clear and it’s nothing to worry about and they’re just being cautious in wanting the scan.

Hercisback · 22/07/2022 20:57

Good luck OP. Hope you get answers soon.

CaptainBeakyandhisband · 22/07/2022 20:57

I’m really glad you’ve been seen and didn’t listen to some of the reckless advice on here about opticians or walk in centres. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

Onekidnoclue · 22/07/2022 21:00

Finger crossed for you. X

jtlr · 22/07/2022 21:02

LakieLady · 22/07/2022 21:08

Glad you went OP, and that you're getting your scan.

Fingers crossed for a reassuring outcome for you.

greenacrylicpaint · 22/07/2022 21:08

did you do a covid test?

I still have a headache/pressure like you describe (almost 3 weeks) and tingling fingertips.

but good that you have been seen. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/07/2022 21:09

I'd ring 111 and go to A&E to await the call back.

Rashgremlin · 22/07/2022 21:11

Really hope you get the results of the CT scan quickly and it's nothing serious @Beebatron

Mumof3andlovingit · 22/07/2022 21:13

Hand hold here. Everything crossed that it turns out to be nothing serious for you. I’ve had tingling sensation as you described twice in my life. First was something to do with nerves from grinding teeth in sleep apparently. With that I was getting pressure and tingling in the temple are in one side. And second time was covid. Tingling sensation was the only symptom I actually had.

Iluvperegrines · 22/07/2022 21:17

Just another one to say hope you are okay x

Harrysutton · 22/07/2022 21:21

Hope you’re ok OP
