Fluke things that you're oddly proud of?

Thread inspired by a trip to the Health Centre today.

I have good veins and each time I donate blood or have to take a blood test, the HCP always say "Oooh!" and their eyes light up when they take a look at my arm. Every time, I a experience a little glow at this "praise" 😆

Anyone else have things that they aren't necessarily responsible for, that they take some sense of pride in?

I do have something else to be proud of!

I have super super thick hair. Every time I go to the hairdressers they say something about how much there is to sweep up. I could stuff pillows dontchaknow.

Me too. In the 80s I had a corkscrew perm (all the rage) and the hairdresser broke her record for the number of rollers in a head of hair. Yeah I got good hair. However, thick hair doesn't just come out on your head 😒

Despite being overweight my blood pressure is always fine

Same here. 19st 5ft3 and have spot on blood pressure apparently. Not diabetic. Kidneys and thyroid fine. My liver is slightly fatty, but nothing significant. Have had an ecg too, which was fine. I get my bloods taken regularly (every 3 months) which check these things

I'm quite active though, walk on average 10k a day, some days up to 16k steps, depending on what I'm doing. I don't drive, so regularly walk most places

Small cervix, allegedly. And small ears. No idea if they are related, I'm 5 foot 8 so not a small person.

@NotMyDayJob 🤣🤣🤣 This made me laugh more than it should have 🙈 Cracking up at the idea of someone researching a relationship between the two 😂

Never, afaik had covid. My DP and DS have, and despite having close proximity with them (separate occasions) never caught it 🤷‍♀️ I've always wondered if it's my superpower

User4223131 · 05/08/2022 22:52

Another overweight one with perfect blood pressure here 🙋🏻‍♀️🤣

Diversion · 05/08/2022 22:52

That at 55 I have almost no grey hair and pretty good skin. Genetics I guess as my Granny and Mum were/are the same. Also no bingo wings despite being overweight.

ndo4000 · 05/08/2022 22:53

I have a resting heart beat of around 50 which apparently is similar to elite athletes. This, despite the fact that my exercise routine consists of doing the school run.

Cocolapew · 05/08/2022 22:54

A young Dr was amazed at my uterus, apparently he'd never seen one so thick.
Unfortunately I've had a hysterectomy so don't have it anymore ☹️

Aconitum · 05/08/2022 22:57

I am 62 now and a proper ginger. My 'grey' hair is actually honey blond streaks. It looks fab (most days).
I never had another period after having DS at 37 and have absolutely no idea when I went through the menopause.
Now if only I could lose that 3 stone and grow at least 3 inches, I would be perfect😁

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/08/2022 22:58

Apparently I have exceptional bone structure in my face. It's just a face to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

QueenOfHiraeth · 05/08/2022 23:02

I had a colonoscopy and the clinician doing it said "Ooh this is nice" in a very surprised tone. I wish the outside of me was as beautiful as the inside Grin

Pyewhacket · 05/08/2022 23:06

I'm truly ambidextrous, in fact I can write with both hands at the same time. And I have an amazing memory. I rarely need to write anything down.

twomumsonebump · 05/08/2022 23:07

When going through IVF I was told my uterus was 'perfect'!

Sandysandwich · 05/08/2022 23:12

I have had a lot of MRIs and have been complimented on my 'lovely hip sockets'
And once got told that my hair smelt amazing, by a woman helping to clip me onto an abseiling wall, I do think that was in comparison to the 38 sweaty boy scouts that went before me but I liked it.

Daisy4569 · 05/08/2022 23:25

Not being able to feel contractions, apparently I must have a high pain threshold. Feel like a bit of a fraud when discussing birth stories and probably shouldn’t have put off having children for so long due to fear of pain!

artishard · 05/08/2022 23:27

Had a smear and was complimented on my 'perfectly positioned cervix' 😂

Clearthinking · 05/08/2022 23:32

High pain threshold. Didn't realise I was 10cm dilated - midwife was as shocked as me. We were laughing! I went in as I thought I had braxton hicks being almost a month early they said come for a check.

Gingernaut · 05/08/2022 23:36

After an X-ray for arm pain (tennis elbow), I was told that I had "lovely, dense, covetable bones"

Currently under a consultant for a weird bone deformity in my feet, he's said similar - "good, dense bones" - I have a "unicorn" condition, which means I have to have ten, rarely performed, bone surgeries.

Really not looking forward to that,

Philandbill · 05/08/2022 23:37

I've not yet been seasick despite almost every ferry I've got onto immediately pitching and tossing as the sea inexplicably turns from millpond to storm (18 hours of force 10 in July FFS...). Don't go on a boat with but if you do at least you'll not have me icking on you 😁

Goodnewsday · 05/08/2022 23:40

My baby has slept every night for an entire year. I mean every night, like hasn’t missed one and he’s only 14 months. Would never have believed such a thing could happen before having him!

This is also my super power :D
My whole family had it in Nov '21, and even though we live in a small house and could not keep apart I never caught it. Also, I work in a school and almost everyone in my room caught it in Mar '22 (including the teacher who was the first, I am her TA) I never caught it, along with 3 or 4 of the kids. Everyone else did.

MammaWeasel · 05/08/2022 23:44

My friend commented that I have an " enviable bottom"
chuffed

EntertainingandFactual · 06/08/2022 00:01

I went for a minor operation recently. I am a very overweight, inactive, menopausal ex smoker.
The nurse taking my blood pressure said mine was perfect. The best reading a person could have. ⭐️ She was a bit confused as I am a bit of a mess.

So proud! 🤣

Another overweight one with perfect blood pressure here 🙋🏻‍♀️🤣

Not just me then! 😄 I need to read the thread!

DinosaursEatMan · 06/08/2022 00:07

I’ve never yet caught covid despite being repeatedly surrounded by people who have, at home and work.

I’m very resistant to the effects of anaesthetic (not so good). At the dentist, when having a C-section and surgeries with both general and local anaesthetics they have had to use more than expected and have all commented on it. I have no idea why.
