Fluke things that you're oddly proud of?

Thread inspired by a trip to the Health Centre today.

I have good veins and each time I donate blood or have to take a blood test, the HCP always say "Oooh!" and their eyes light up when they take a look at my arm. Every time, I a experience a little glow at this "praise" 😆

Anyone else have things that they aren't necessarily responsible for, that they take some sense of pride in?

I know what ID and address verification documents are suitable for what though my job and always bring loads more documents than I need. I always get praised for being prepared

Haha yes I was praised by the midwife for my normal blood pressure 🤣

Maintained a really good blood count in pregnancy. I have no control over it, it’s mere chance and I don’t think less of women who have a lower blood count for entirely physiological reasons. But every time someone said “your haemoglobin is good” I was all smug. Gave me a good buffer zone for losing a few pints at delivery (a process I feel less smug about)

I have lots of good cholesterol! Is this actually bad?! I'm not sure but anyway, I took it.

My dog happily sleeps in until 11am, people with early waking dogs complement me on having him well trained. I literally did nothing he is just lazy.

That my nails grow really quickly!

That my placenta was 'Huge and really healthy.' All 3 times (preens).

I'm blessed with good hair no matter what I do to it, it seems to sit.

I also have lovely big veins, and as I used to take blood for a living, I thank you for your flukey veins! Also my eyebrows just happen to grow in a perfect shape, I occasionally pluck a rogue one but otherwise it’s pure luck, (and resisting temptation to pluck them all out in the 90s!)

My nails are a great shape, big nail beds and a lovely natural oval. Get them from my mum. The rest of me is a frizzy sweaty shit show 😅

Still got a baby tooth! Don't know why but hearing the dentist say "did you know this is still a baby tooth!" Makes me feel really proud 😂

I have a birthmark on the back of my eye. The attention this gets opticians amuses me. Its probably the only vaguely interesting about me.

I use a wet wipe once every day or two...

My dentist showed me X-rays from my teens and now, forty years later. He said I have absolutely no bone regression, which is very rare! It's a combination of good genetics, growing up in a hard water area and drinking loads of full-fat milk, and looking after my teeth.

Most of the same points were brought up at my bone density scan, where I was told I would be fine to a hundred and I had bones like a dinosaur. I always knew I had heavy bones...

I was a bit over weight when I had dd2, one of the midwives at the consultant clinic was adamant I had gestational diabetes (or that I would get it) and would tell me every time she did my blood pressure, 'I'll bet this is high'.
(I did complain about her and I didn't see her after the first 3 or 4 times, but I was there every 2 weeks from 25 weeks for other issues).

I didn't get gestational diabetes.
My blood pressure was always on the low side, even lower pre pregnancy.
I was always a little bit smug (when it was the mean one doing my bp).
Literally not a thing I could have done at that point to influence that!

That made it sound like I got her sacked 😂 I didn't. She was still there, but I just saw a different midwife after I mentioned the comments she'd been making.

That I have naturally great colour pigment in my hair that most would pay £££ for apparently and don't need highlights. I never appreciated it when I was younger and just sort of did an 🙄 whenever it was mentioned, but now I'm starting to grey a bit, I regret not taking on the compliment sooner!

That I have naturally thick bushy eyebrows. I hate them too, and is a pain in the arse to maintain. No amount of plucking, threading or waxing has made them any thinner permanently

On the back of my right hand, I've got a funny little square of veins. Having a perfusion put in the anaesthetist Saïd he'd never seen one before. Felt quite proud.

I was born without wisdom teeth or tonsils. Apparently I'm 'evolutionarily advanced' and one day we'll all be born this way. There's not much special about me so I'll take a compliment where I can! 😃

Same! We have medics in the family and they look at the crook of my arm with pride and admiration.

I've been told I could be in medical textbooks 💅

I have super super thick hair. Every time I go to the hairdressers they say something about how much there is to sweep up. I could stuff pillows dontchaknow.

I have really low fingernail beds which makes my nails look long even when they aren’t. Beauty places always comment in how great they are.
