Is life just more difficult for some people?

Does anyone else just feel like life is more difficult for them? Like I’ve been unlucky my whole life, nothing is ever simple or straightforward. Things just always seem to go wrong, I’m always the one that needs to call and chase for stuff.

Like I booked a flight recently and realised there was an error on my flight details so had to chase a resolution. In the past I’ve had issues with being charged for stuff that I shouldn’t have been and then having to chase for a refund etc.

Maybe everyone’s life is like this and I just don’t know but I genuinely feel like some people just sail through life and others don’t.

In my first.post in the thread I said:

I ordered a small cheap fridge... It got delivered damaged and had to go back.

DPD have just tried to deliver the broken fridge to me... It's been tossing about in a DPD van for over a week.. they've been scanning the wrong label, the delivery label and not the returns label.
I've had to have a bit of a rant at them to get them to send it back..

My outlook may be dire, but the universe still conspires against me.. 😂

I guess it varies with what your family life is like, your commitment s, etc.

I get that’s frustrating but surely you stick the returns label over the delivery label just to stop that from happening. In this situation I’d be annoyed with myself but not thinking that the universe was against me.

Was carrier that attached the labels, not me..

They attached them and then different folks scanned the wrong ones for a week..

I rarely have admin issues to sort out - everything is on direct debit and it's all quite straightforward. It's very rare that I ever have to phone anyone to sort something out.

My mum however, who is really quite capable and switched on, has things going wrong All The Time. Roof problems, leaky pipes, electricity bills that are too high, water bills that are too high (even considering the leaky pipes), things breaking down etc.

Admittedly I really plan ahead to try to avoid issues and think things through to predict problems so I can mitigate them as far as possible (an example would be travelling with hand luggage to minimise time spent in airport queues) but I still think some people are just unlucky!

Yes some people have genuinely hard lives.
But inconvenience and bad luck happens to everyone.
I have a friend who is very much ‘why me’ and prone to feeling sorry for herself over every little thing, thinking she’s hard done by compared to others - children catching bugs, washing machine breaking, failing an MOT, that kind of thing. These things happen to everyone, but not everyone uses them as an excuse to throw a regular pity party.
