It's raining here (Devon). And has been cloudy all morning.

Maybe it will pick up a bit later.

Just got rained on coming back from buying a sandwich for lunch (north Staffordshire). It is quite warm but definitely no heatwave.

33° here in North Hertfordshire, currently sitting in front of the oscillating fan, dog is on his cooling mat, spritzing us both with a hairdressers water spray bottle. Got a hot water bottle freezing in the freezer, ice pops, doggie ice treats…. We WILL be cool 😎

I read this as though your dog sitting on his cooling mat was doing the spritzing. It conjured up a lovely image of person+dog in perfect harmony - the dog being kind and practical and looking out for your both.

Are we only allowed to answer if we're in England?
It's 28°C in the north of Scotland right now.

I’m on the south coast, don’t get me wrong it’s pretty warm but in my personal opinion it was hotter last week!

I'm south coast too and finding ok so far. Cat asleep on floor, seems to be coping well too.

Bigmouthshouthotair · 18/07/2022 13:23

Tipping 36 here now

skyeisthelimit · 18/07/2022 13:25

North Devon and it's 32 here at the moment. A friend has just had a bit of rain, around 5 miles away but it didn't last long.

frostyfingers · 18/07/2022 13:28

I’ve just been out to check my horses who are amazingly standing in the sun - they have shelter and shade so obviously they’re not bothered. I changed the water as it was almost too hot to put my in! Temp is around 36 I think. Office is a cool 24 in comparison.

Mybeautifulfriend22 · 18/07/2022 13:29

Currently 32 according to weather app ( real feel 35) my in the shade thermostat is reading 31. Sunny greater Manchester. It’s the air that does it. So close and humid .
house is 25 degrees all curtains closed and windows closed. We only have the heating on 19 in winter!

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 18/07/2022 13:29

32 here on the Welsh Borders. Slate doorstep is too hot to stand on barefoot. Dog and I are at home today instead of going into town and opening the shop. Off to check horses shortly, they have shade but won't be in it of course, so I'll go and slosh some water over them :)

27° in Belfast, never seen the like of it although it's to rain Tomo, sigh.

Genehuntsfanclub · 18/07/2022 13:34

Also in Staffs, my thermometer is in the sun at the moment and saying 39.6 and rising. I'll put it in the shade later for a comparison.

Herecomestreble1 · 18/07/2022 13:34

34 degrees in West Kent which this 6months pregnant lady absolutely detests

restedbutexhausted · 18/07/2022 13:36

36 now in South London...feels like it's still creeping up!

kirinm · 18/07/2022 13:37

Wow, just opened the front door and it really does give you that "just got off a plane" feeling.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/07/2022 13:37

31’ in the shade in Somerset. House is cool, but outside it’s not really hot hot although it’s 30+ it’s overcast and windy, it’s odd.

Do you mean England or Britain ?

I deliberately chose to ask about England, mainly because I thought the northern and western parts of the UK were more likely to be cooler anyway. I have Welsh relatives and Scottish friends so do usually say what I mean when using England/Britain/the UK etc.

But feel free to answer from other parts of the UK anyway and sorry for excluding! Sounds like they are hotter than I thought.

Just said on the news that the peak temperatures will actually tommorrow and the hottest will be the Midlands and North

Genehuntsfanclub · 18/07/2022 13:44

My thermometer ( in the sun) has just jumped to 41.5 and continues to climb. (Staffs)

BigWoollyJumpers · 18/07/2022 13:44

Now 32c on my deep in the shade/cool side of house thermometer. Inside steady 24, which illustrates well that closing windows and curtains and blinds first thing makes a huge difference, it was 22 first thing, so only gone up 2 degrees.

Just dropped DD at the train station, she is off to the cinema, and the car is registering 36c. Last week in Sardinia we had 48c on the car when we got back in after a lunch out. Now THAT was hot.

whoruntheworldgirls · 18/07/2022 13:46

32 here in York, expecting 36 by 5pm

takeitandleaveit · 18/07/2022 13:47

Tumbleweed101 · 18/07/2022 13:49

velvetvixen · 18/07/2022 13:49
