Is anyone actually enjoying this weather?

I seem to be avoiding going out and am spending a lot of time in my cool basement rooms. It's too hot to sit in the garden or go anywhere (apart from go in my air-conned car to the gym swimming pool or my mate's swimming pool).

I might make an exception at the weekend to go down the pub (one with a garden) in the evenings.

Went into the office today just for the air con - it was fabulous

FourChimneys · 13/07/2022 20:29

I don't mind it too much but I run my own business and have decided not to work on Monday and Tuesday next week. I know I am very fortunate to be able to do that.

A bit concerned for a family member and a friend who will really struggle, especially the one with a difficult pregnancy.

LimboLass · 13/07/2022 20:31

Rather have this over overcast and rainy days.

Haway the heat!

orangeisthenewpuce · 13/07/2022 20:33

The only people I know who are enjoying it are those who don't work.

ellieboolou · 13/07/2022 20:34

No I bloody hate it! Was 29 today and my office was 38, headaches, lack of sleep and the inability to do normal everyday things without sweating buckets is really starting to loss me off. Fuck off heatwave

A580Hojas · 13/07/2022 20:38

I'm not loving it (London) and generally prefer the summer weather to be around 20 to 25 degrees. But I am not going to moan on and on and on about it. It's rare and relatively easy to cope with.

I remember summer of 1976 pretty well so maybe that puts it in perspective for me.

Good question. Im near London and anything over 25 degrees actually affects my mental health; I feel nauseous and anxious. I mostly work from home so can do my best to keep cool but yeah, really brought down by it. I have 2 social events this weekend, a rare day in the office next week and am flying on business too - I feel sick at the thought of coping with the exhaustion. Not sure how to manage these feelings!

I’ve always hated warm weather since I was a child and am 60 now so assume I’ll always struggle. I’ve been to Mediterranean countries felt fine, but also Sri Lanka and I didn’t cope there, so must be the humidity?

I totally relate - i am the same!
Spent much of my childhood in the middle east, and Mediterranean, coped fine. But in south east asia, sri lanka & india and NOW on london, i get so anxious and nauseous!
I started a thread on it on Monday.

Also, we have a dog now so this heat really worries me for her.

ellieboolou · 13/07/2022 20:42

@nomistake you will never find me moaning about being cold - ever!

I like summer, sunshine and warmth just not 30+ when sat in a NON air conditioned office and trying to sleep in a bedroom at 28 🥵

purpleme12 · 13/07/2022 20:45

Yes absolutely loving it! The hotter the better!

I'm just pissed off when I have to stay inside and work. (And it's cold cos it's air conditioned and of course you're dressed for outside)

Tunus · 13/07/2022 20:51

I love it
BUT I work part time, from home and our house stays pretty cool inside.

Needs to be a couple of degrees hotter before I feel too hot, so far it’s been a pleasant temperature for me (if I was for eg a builder working outside with no shade I might feel differently, but for my life it’s been nice)

ellieboolou · 13/07/2022 20:52

@purpleme12 let's swap offices.......please! Ours has no air con and was 38.6 full of sweaty, irritated bodies 😖

NCHammer2022 · 13/07/2022 20:53

I’m sure I’ll like it again on Saturday and Sunday. But work, either from home or in the office, is unpleasant right now. Collecting a sweaty, hot, tired child and taking them home on public transport is unpleasant right now. Trying to sleep is unpleasant right now.

lollipoprainbow · 13/07/2022 16:11

Sure it's delightful for all of those lucky enough to have a garden but when you're stuck in a tiny baking hot flat it's no fun at all.

🫠yep.

shreddednips · 13/07/2022 21:50

No, I can't stand it. I long for gloom 😆 The worst thing about it is the sweating and having to use sun cream, skin always feels gross and sticky. And I don't like summer clothes, I like jumpers and blankets. My husband thinks I'm mad but I really am happiest in winter.

Delatron · 13/07/2022 22:31

I love it. Though I will admit today in the S.E at 27 degrees it felt much more pleasant than the 30 we’d been having for the past few days. I could actually sit out in in today and it was lovely.

30+ makes for nice warm evenings though.

24 tomorrow will feel quite cool.
I accept anything over 32 in this country becomes unpleasant as we’re not designed for it
32+ and you need air con/pool/sea.

ivykaty44 · 13/07/2022 22:35

Ive been enjoying the weather. I went to Cape Verde for a week and then came back to a couple of days that were cool and then this weather started - so feels like an extension of my holiday. Hoping it will last.

Ive also been fortunate as Ive been babysitting and they have an open air swimming pool so the girl has wanted to spend time swimming - which suits me fine to be int he water for an hour or so at a time

lljkk · 13/07/2022 22:40

I would prefer cooler but can enjoy this. Amazing swim in river. I didn't want to get out. Best I felt all day.

ALongHardWinter · 13/07/2022 22:43

Absolutely hate and despise it. But I know plenty of people who DO love it,although when the person saying that they 'love it' is bright red in the face and perspiring heavily, with their hair damp and plastered to their head,I do wonder if they're being truthful. Over the last few years,I've come to realise that some people think that saying you don't love hot weather,or can't cope with temperatures of 34 degrees plus,is a sign of weakness.🙄

Kittycooo · 13/07/2022 22:43

Yes , love it - am lucky enough to live by the sea so been swimming every day since last Friday

MissMaple82 · 13/07/2022 22:47

No, it's fucking hideous

ThelmaDinkley · 13/07/2022 22:49

I hate it. No beach or pool here and can’t sit out in garden due to chavvy neighbours. Feel like I’m in hell

Pootle40 · 13/07/2022 22:50

I love it. A proper summer at last, I wish it was 3/4 months of the year. Make the rest more bearable

Pugfostermum · 13/07/2022 22:50

Yes! I’ve been to a naked festival, swimming in lakes, playing racket sports, chilling in the garden….

I don’t really work though and no kids to run after…….

Summersolargirl · 13/07/2022 22:52

Other than the ballache of having to water th plants so often I would like it to last till oct at least please.

ShriekingShack · 13/07/2022 22:53

27 here today but felt nice as there was a breeze and occasional clouds. Manageable after the 32 and muggy earlier in the week. Wondering about Mon/Tues now as it’s 36…!
