Is anyone actually enjoying this weather?

I seem to be avoiding going out and am spending a lot of time in my cool basement rooms. It's too hot to sit in the garden or go anywhere (apart from go in my air-conned car to the gym swimming pool or my mate's swimming pool).

I might make an exception at the weekend to go down the pub (one with a garden) in the evenings.

18 degrees here in Edinburgh today so not brilliant, but it's been in the early/mid 20s and about to return to that over the coming days - lovely!

You can keep your 30-plus though!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 13/07/2022 15:52

Nope hate it. 30'weeks pregnant with second baby 2 year old toddler. All miserable

firefly123 · 13/07/2022 15:57

Absolutely hate it. 20 degrees in the city is about as much as I can bear. If I was by the beach on holiday would be great.

MumJourney · 13/07/2022 15:59

39 weeks pregnant with a 2 1/2 year old at home. I don't normally like to grumble about the weather as I am a big fan of all the seasons but seriously, couldn't have been a few weeks earlier or later!!?? Ready for some rain!

easyday · 13/07/2022 16:07

Hate it. Zaps any energy. If I don't take the dogs out first thing (7am) then it gets too hot for them (thick black coats). My cats spend the day stretched out on the tile floor, the stone terrace in the shade, or the flower beds. Trying to do anything that requires any exertion seems impossible. The garden needs 45 minutes of watering every day. I've given up on the grass.
24 degrees light breeze is my max. It's 28 out now and I have one of those migraine cold patches sticking to my forehead. I'm thinking of getting a paddling pool and lying in it all next Tuesday when it is forecast to be 36.
I went to Rome a few years ago in July thinking the weather would be like a normal English summer temp wise (what an idiot) - it was upper 30s every day and we had booked long walking tours of the coliseum, Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii. I thought I was going to die.

lollipoprainbow · 13/07/2022 16:09

No I hate it! Drains me and gives me a headache. Roll on autumn when we have sunny days with a chilly edge lovely.

LondonWolf · 13/07/2022 16:10

I absolutely hate it.

I genuinely don’t remember these two to three weeks of Hot Hell when my kids were younger but the last five years or it seems to come along regular as clockwork. I’m buying air con units for next year.

lollipoprainbow · 13/07/2022 16:11

Sure it's delightful for all of those lucky enough to have a garden but when you're stuck in a tiny baking hot flat it's no fun at all.

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 13/07/2022 16:11

I'm loving it, there are so many grey and rainy days in the UK, it's wonderful to enjoy blue skies and wall-to-wall sunshine :)

I sit in the garden with an early morning cup of coffee and feel like I'm on holiday

Keladrythesaviour · 13/07/2022 16:13

Love it! Can't believe so many people are complaining. It just doesn't bother me and I'm paler than the moon. It just makes me feel so happy. I struggle a bit more when the humidity rises, but sunshine and heat... The silence you get outside apart from the odd bit of chatter from gardens, crunchy grass under your toes, the smell of hot tarmac. It's what I spend all winter dreaming about.

Princessoftheuniverse · 13/07/2022 16:14

I’ve always hated the heat. Just warm enough not to need a cardi is my favourite temperature.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 13/07/2022 16:16

Yep I love it.

TheProvincialLady · 13/07/2022 16:16

God yes, the hotter the better

devildeepbluesea · 13/07/2022 16:20

Absolutely love it. I was born in the wrong country. Just had an absolutely unforgettable weekend by the sea, looking forward to next weekend.

SoupDragon · 13/07/2022 16:23

Me!

It's for such a short period of time I need to fill my soul with the sunshine goodness 😂😂

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 13/07/2022 16:24

Nope I hate it.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 13/07/2022 16:24

Should add I’m close to the beach and have a garden so having those on hand helps. Having said that we get less than a month of the year like this, if that, so folk moaning about it is hard to take given they get to enjoy the other miserable 11 months or so of the year.

HelenHywater · 13/07/2022 16:26

I love it too!

Greensleeves · 13/07/2022 16:29

No, we're all thoroughly miserable here. It's hotter than hell, cloudy and unbearably humid. I'm working in the garden because there's a breeze, but there's also clouds of midges/mozzies everywhere and I can hardly breathe the air. The past two nights I've been literally soaked in sweat all night despite sleeping on top of the covers (perimenopausal as well) and I feel sticky, itchy and sore even an hour after a shower. It's fucking horrible and I can't wait for it to end.

NippyWoowoo · 13/07/2022 16:31

NO

Bloodybridget · 13/07/2022 16:33

In London, and it's much too hot for me to enjoy it, but am lucky in that I'm retired and didn't have to do much today. My bedroom gets hotter than hell, though, so it's very difficult to sleep. Not looking forward to the next few days!

TheWeeDonkey · 13/07/2022 16:33

Yes, I love it

maisieandvicks · 13/07/2022 16:34

It’s okay I guess and for me to say that is a huge deal since I absolutely despise the summer heat. But it’s been bearable so far I think.

Next Saturday and Sunday though, I will be singing from a very different hymn sheet since it’s predicted temp is 36 degrees on the Sunday! God help us all! 😩

maisieandvicks · 13/07/2022 16:34

** Next Monday and Tuesday

Bestshapeever · 13/07/2022 16:38

Love it! Soz
